Bumping old thread rather than starting a new one. How's everyone's sleeping patterns these days?
Anyone else find that as they are getting older they are sleeping less and less? I used to feel like I needed 8 hours a night at least in my teenage years but now that I'm in my early 30's if I get more than 6 or 7 it seems like too much and I feel like crap.
I have no idea why but my theory is that we need less sleep in our middle ages because we have more responsibilites and are able to perform at levels of less sleep, than those older or younger.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon. I was certainly never a morning person throughout all of my life but I haven't been able to sleep past 7am unless I was up REALLY late / drunk the night before for years now. I was at a motel for work a few weeks back and didn't have to be into work until 10am. Set my alarm for 8am to have a sleep in and promptly woke up at 6am and stared at the ceiling trying to get back to sleep for an hour with no luck. Weird....Comment

If you averaged every night of the week, It's probably closer to 6 hours.
My goal is usually 7 hours, but sometimes between trying to hang with friends, get in the gym, and still have to work.. I get a lot less..
I seem to manage just fine, though. I went out last Friday night and didn't get but 5 hours of sleep before being at work from 11a-8p the following Saturday and then went straight to the gym after work and ended up getting to sleep around 1am. Then woke back up at 4:45am and got to work by 6am for a meeting and worked straight through to 3..
came home and got ready, just to turn around and drive to Birmingham to see a movie with this girl and stopped by and got dinner and some drinks afterwards.. after it was all said and done, I got home and finally got to sleep around 11..
So I usually don't sleep much on weekends.Comment

My sleep schedule is erratic, to say the least, lately. I generally get less sleep than I should, though. I can't remember the last time I went to be before midnight. It must have been years...Comment

A solid 7 or so during the week.
If I don't have a particularly long night over the weekend, it is about 8-9. I'm always awake at 10, the latest on the weekend.Comment

I have a crappy sleeping pattern.
I slept at 1:50am, and woke up wide awake at 5:50am.
I'll probably force myself to take a nap from like, 11:30am to 4 or something.

My sleep schedule sucks. I'm switch from days to nights a lot. Either working 530am to 530pm or 530pm to 530am. If I'm on days I get about 5 hrs of sleep. If I'm on nights then 9.

My sleep schedule is very inconsistent. Even during the work week, sometimes I go to bed at 9, other times after midnight and wake up at 6 regardless.
On the weekends forget about it. Anywhere between 11 PM and like 4 AM could be my bedtime and I might get up at 9 AM or I could sleep until 1 in the afternoon.

Man I wish I could get a good night worth of sleep. My highschool years destroyed that. I would be out till late an have to wake up early for school.
Now I have to be up for work at 5am. The bad part is I don't go to sleep until I'm tired an that doesn't happen until 1am on average. So about 4-5 hours for me.
On my days off I go to sleep earlier like around midnight but still wake up at 6am ish ..... I hate it. I'm always tired.
