Yes. My college roommate's parents started a distillery in upstate NY, so he got me into whiskey. Enjoy both Jameson and Bushmills.

I don't drink often, but if I'm drinking whiskey I usually go for Buffalo Trace. It has a lot of notes that remind me of rum, which is my go to. I also have a direct relative that settled the area where Buffalo Trace is, so I like the historical connection.

Picked up a bottle of Tiffon X.O. cognac Friday to have for the superbowl. Regular $99 at my local spot, but they messed up and ordered way to much and couldn't return it so they selling bunch of it for cost $29.99 ea. Thinking of going grab another bottle before they sell it all.

How was it? You might need to send a bottle up I-20.

Btw, wwharton, can you change the thread title to "OS Fine Spirits Appreciation Thread" ?

I'm far from experienced when it comes to cognac, but I enjoyed it. I tried making Sidecars with it since I got it for a good price and didn't mind splashing a 30 dollar bottle with some lemon and triple sec. I was not a fan of the sidecars, but straight up neat was much better. It kind of reminded me of a decent bottle of scotch, nice smooth mellow finish with tons of flavor but not harsh at all.

Now Cyros you know I'm more a Whiskey/Bourbon type, but in my opinion its a fine cognac.

If you want me to ship you a bottle man, just let me know and I'll go grab you one.

Anybody have some favorite rums of there?

This Zaya Gran Reserva cost me about $30 and came with two rock glasses.

A guilty pleasure show I watch is Moonshiners. When I found out this was actually being sold in stores I had to get a bottle. It's pretty damned good.

I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

Phobia introduced me to Buffalo Trace a while back. It's about $25 here in NC. Very enjoyable. Another I enjoy is Elijah Craig. Same price range.

I've tasted a few moonshines and some are better than others. It just bothers me bc regulating and selling retail kind of defeats the purpose of "moonshine".

There's a distillery in Tennessee called Sugarlands that uses recipes from Jim Tom, Mark Rogers, and Tickle for their legends series. I've only had the Jim Tom shine and that was pretty awesome. Might be worth checking them out since your a fan of the show.
