I know maybe I'm the only one but I don't carry cash because quite simply it's a disgusting cesspool of germs. After I saw reports on tv about how filthy cash is, quite literally, I rarely like to touch it. And when I am forced to touch cash I immediately use sanitary gel on my hands.

I feel sorry for kids that have parents who insist on killing every germ in existence. When those poor kids get a cold it last for weeks because their immune system doesn't have the slightest clue what to do.

After encountering homeless people who eat out of garbage cans, I will say it's more than likely a ploy to get people to buy products.

Debit card machine reader buttons have more germs on it then cash.......

And far as people not knowing how to use them, I always just stood there SMH in the inside. I remember my days as a cashier many years ago, how many old people didn't know how to slide the card or use the machine.

In particular, the cash back question use to always stomp old people. They would stand there for a couple of minutes and say what do they mean by do I want cash back ?????

Then they would always ask for an odd number back that I couldn't give them back like $35, $47, or $9 back. Then would I have to explain to them it could only be by 20s and only up to $100. This one lady treated it as an atm machine and wanted $300.

When I couldn't give it to her she threw a hissy fit and called the manager on me and I ACTUALLY GOT WROTE UP FOR THAT BS. Another reason why I will always hate Walmart. You will get written up for customer stupidity.

Far as gas stations and credit cards, that is all over. Gas stations lose money on credit card transactions, so therefore they pass the cost on to the customers. I remember one of these gas station owners told me that years ago. Some kind of fee they have to pay or something like that.

Because it was like that in Chicago and northwest Indiana as well. Same way in Vermont and Mass as well.

On the original topic, I wanted to do some research on whether the see id thing was legal and I went to a couple websites and they all said that it was not. If you don't sign it, the merchant doesn't have to and shouldn't accept it.

exactly wsu, it says on the back to SIGN the card, not write something clever on it. just quit being so stubborn and sign the damned thing when you get it, LOL

as for germs, you're kidding if you don't think cash is filled with germs. and no there's nothing wrong with exposing yourself to germs, but for certain things like public escalators, cash, elevator buttons, etc, do you really want to be touching them knowing people are picking their nose, grabbing their crotch and everything else before you? i've got a great immune system and never get sick, I had to get cancer to find that out but my immune system is about double that of a normal person and combine that with my somewhat OCD about stuff like cash it's really served me well thank you! but if you want to be handling cash maybe do a little googling to find out just how filthy it really is, it's disgusting in fact.
