Many of the things preached like the eating small meals etc actually make sense in some form which is why they are so easily followed but it's just not true.

For example a recent study showed that it takes the body over 7 hours just to digest whey protein and it's way longer for real food. A decent piece of steak or chicken may take 24-48 hours to be properly broken down and utilised by the body so eating every few hours is irrelevant. There's nothing inherently wrong with it and for some people it suits them best because they can eat that way and enjoy it but for people like me who actually like to feel full and satisfied by a meal lots of little small meals leaves me feeling totally unsatisfied and always hungry.

Another one is that whole "don't eat saturated fat as it'll lead to heart disease' thing that has been endorsed by the government both in your country and mine. There is actually no link between dietary sat fat intake and cholesterol and no link to heart disease. Hell if anything a diet low in fat is far from optimal because it reduces testosterone in men which is critical for libido, sexual function and building / maintaining muscle and low fat diets have been linked to depression.

Like AA touched on in his Paleo thread the reliance on refined carbohydrates in the western diet is ridiculously high and is the real reason people are getting fat.
Not in the slightest, man. I found the article a very interesting read.

So i'm down from 210 to 193 now. Still going strong.

I picked up the Perfect Pushup the other day as well, and am very happy with my purchase. My wrists don't hurt after doing them like normal pushups, and you have to concentrate extremely hard to keep everything perfectly balanced. I'm gonna try to follow the workout chart that it comes with, then re-test my max on them. I can definitely tell they are harder than normal pushups, as my max with the PP was only 17, and with normal pushups, I can get about 8 or 10 more. I'm not the strongest guy in the world, so i'm hoping these will make a difference.

I was 302 yesterday morning. Three more pounds to 299! I did eat pizza last night and had a few beers so my weight is probably up this morning. Just think 6 months ago I was 360! I need to get a before and then a 299 pic (with shirt, don't need to scare anyone!) haha

I always wondered about that! I was skeptical it would actually work..

10 Minute trainer is a great workout. Very simple, and fast - and you get a good sweat on. IF anyone is looking to get into P90x or insanity, I'd recommend starting with 10 min trainer. I plan on doing 10 min trainer for at least a year - then Insanity.

I'm going to kick my *** into gear on Monday. I've been just sitting on my *** and eating terribly.

Anyway, does anyone have a good calorie counter online? I've been using caloriecount.about.com, but I'm interested if anyone has found anything better.

I use Livestrong.com, and I like it quite a bit. It's actually the only one i've tried, but it does the trick. It's got quite a big database of foods when you enter them in.

The thing I like is it gives you the recommended amount of other things aside from calories for your diet as well if you are keeping track, such as protein, fiber, fat, etc. I mostly just calorie count, but it's useful.

Yeah Livestrong is my favourite as well. It has an iphone / android app that some people would find pretty useful which i think is free.

I have lost 4.4lbs in 2 weeks. Joined a gym and have been doing weights 3 days a week and cardio 3 days a week. Trying to watch what I eat is the hardest part but I am trying. I have noticed my belly doesn't stick out as much and have been sleeping better at night since I stated exercising.

I just started a new program this week.

3 days of strength training and 3 days of cardio.

Finished 1st day of strength training, ramping up for cardio tomorrow. I'm sure I'll be sore tomorrow.

                      Beginning weight is 283.

I was 303.4 this morning, up from the 302 on Friday I believe it was. Damn pizza and beers! Basketball game tonight, though, should expend a good amount of energy! Hoping to see 302 or even 301 tomorrow morning!

GL with it guys. I'm away from home for a wedding this week so have been drinking a bit more than usual but nothing too crazy other than the bucks night which was a bit of a booze fest. I've still been running and doing pushups in the morning to i'm hoping i do minimal damage from this week off my usual routine.

Weighed in this morning at 251.5 pounds.

That's 20.5 pounds down from a month ago when I weighed myself after having a pretty bad day/night of eating.

Amazing what healthy eating can do for you. I did finish two weeks of P90x and can't wait until I start the program up again. Those first two weeks was a "warm up," but now I can plan better and do more back stretching before beginning.

My goal is to be in the 240's again within two weeks. With the lighter frame, I'll have less stress being placed on my back.

I have definitely noticed this myself. The more weight I lost the easier things like pushups, pullups and squats became and they play such a huge role in the p90x program it really does get easier. You get lighter and your strength gets better so the longer you do these sorts of things the easier they become and have to keep finding new ways of challenging yourself.
