Re: OS Cars Thread
Im looking at a major promotion in the next couple weeks. Once I'm sure I got it this is my ideal purchase. But its got to be at least the GT. Impulse blue metallic.
In split between it and a GTO. The G8 is perfect for the family but the goat is closer in my price range

Re: OS Cars Thread
It was a sad day today. Traded in my Jeep for a 2014 Ford Focus. I'll save $200 a month on a car payment and it will double my gas mileage so that's the reason for the switch.

Do you guys think the STi is worth the premium over the base WRX? Apart from the engine I can't see too many other differences to warrant the additional cost.

Decided to simplify my life. Not to mention when we move to the new house next month our driveway is a mile long dirt road.

Re: OS Cars Thread
Thinking again about trading in my 2008 Silverado for a 2013-14 crossover or mid-size SUV. Looking at the 2013 Honda CR-V or the 2014 Mazda CX-5 Touring (the one with 185hp). Anyone happen to drive one of these?
I do a weeks worth of research when spending $500 on an electronic item so I will do more research on the whole process. So with that said a quick question. Is buying new as bad as some people say as far as losing so much value the second it leaves the lot?Last edited by SuperBowlNachos; 08-06-2014, 11:50 AM.Comment

Buying used is overrated IMO and always hailed as the "smarter" approach to car buying. The price difference between used and new isn't that big, especially once you factor in the higher interest rates associated with used vehicles. You can easily get 0% financing on a new ride assuming your credit is good.
I find comfort in knowing I've put every mile on a car. You don't have to worry about whether or not the previous owner dogged it or anything.
Just my $.02. The "value" isn't intriguing enough for me to go used.Originally posted by J. ColeFool me one time that's shame on you. Fool me twice can't put the blame on you. Fool me three times, **** the peace sign, load the chopper let it rain on you.

Re: OS Cars Thread
How is it over rated to not have a car payment and saving money? I never had 1 car payment ever. Maybe you have a point if you're buying a car out of your means and have to get a loan with a bad interest rate.
I always bought my cars from a private party, so you do your research to find a good deal on a high resale car. There's a ton of desperate people out there.
I've sold my car for more than what I bought it for 2 different times at the same time saved money and bought a nicer car each time.
You're talking to a guy who is anti debt. I dropped out of college because it made me so crazy on how much I had to owe. Even with my mortgage I made profit renting out the rooms and cover my share of the bills. The only reason I have credit cards is to get a better credit score and get free travel miles.

Re: OS Cars Thread
It's all good that you're anti-debt, but most people aren't paying cash for a new car. I'm strictly talking about someone who is making a decision between getting a new car or buying that same car used from a dealer. My reasons for going new are stated above.
Didn't realize having a car note was "living outside my means" though. Interesting.Originally posted by J. ColeFool me one time that's shame on you. Fool me twice can't put the blame on you. Fool me three times, **** the peace sign, load the chopper let it rain on you.

Re: OS Cars Thread
After my first vehicle I've never really trusted used cars because you just don't know. Take it to a mechanic, yeah, but even then something can happen. Even something routine can be costly. New appeals to me because of warranties and because I personally know the history of the car and that gives me piece of mind. I had to change out my catalytic converter a couple years ago, but thank God that thing was under warranty.
If you have good credit and know how to budget then buying new shouldn't be a problem. If you're paying straight cash for a used car then its probably not going to be apples/apples comparison to a new car anyway.
