    2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE

    January 1st, 2012 (Today)

Let's make 2012 our fittest year ever! Post your situation and your goals so that we can help track and motivate one another to having a healthier and happier life.

My goal is to reduce stress by eating healthier and exercising more.

Being in law enforcement it is not easy dealing with stress. This past year I packed on a few pounds around the midsection. I was skipping meals, eating poorly, not exercising as much and this led to having super high stress virtually ever day. It didn't take long before I felt the weight of the world on my shoulders. Married with two children in college, this 40 year old wants to get back to running 4 miles per day and adding muscle while torching fat. I will be eating small healthy meals every 2-3 hours and I encourage any and all feed back along the way.

Today I will start P90x and run / jog/ walk 4 miles this evening. Tomorrow morning I will begin my day by running at 70% of my maximum heart rate for 25 minutes on a treadmill before going into work. I will prep the next two days worth of food so that I have it handy.

Thanks and have a Happy New Year to each of you and your families!!!

My goal is to go from looking like this.

    to this...

but seriously I do want to try and pack on atleast 10-15 lbs of muscle.. maybe more but got to stay with short term goals. I've already gained 10 lbs since I started eating healthier, more regularly. I resolve to lift harder than I ever had, doing good so far and staying motivated.

Goal to get back into football shape, which is about another 10lb of muscle and dropping some of the fat i've gained.

The biggest thing in the fall for me was adjusting to my schedule as I had more classes in the day and was always just too lazy to go work out. Got some more early classes this semester so my plan is to go after my first class in the morning.

I'm actually in pretty good shape cardio wise as i've been helping my one of my good friends train to try to walk on the football team just need to cut some weight and gain some muscle.

At 5'9" 170lbs right now. The rough part will be trying to figure out a leg workout routine that revolves around not roughing up my knees.

I'm in on this for sure.

2011 was a good year for me fitness wise (lost about 20lbs of fat, barely ever missed a training session, dropped 4 belt sizes, got way stronger and added some muscle mass) but 2012 is when I finally have one of those 'holy crap that guy is jacked!' physiques that I have always wanted but never achieved in my 31 years on the planet.

                  Plan is:

counting cals (protein = high, fat's = medium mostly from healthy sources such as avocado etc, carbs = lower but not no carb). 2000 cals per day

4.30am starts for 5am gym sessions for 1 hour 4 times per week (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri) followed by 30 mins cardio on workout days and 1hr cardio on Wednesday with weekends off.

                  GL with your goals fellas!!!

                    Re: 2012 FITNESS CHALLENGE

                    I'm down.

                    I'm sitting at 6'3" 225 lbs.

I don't have a weight goal, because I don't have much to lose and muscle weighs more than fat, but I am looking to get in some great shape.

I started a workout regiment around July of last year and stuck with it until about September and got back into a bad rut throughout Fall and all the way into the middle of December. I re joined a gym and I'm more dedicated than ever before. I've now cut sodas out of my diet COMPLETELY. The only drinks I take in are the occasional coke with my weekend rum.

                    My plan:

                    • Minimum 4 Days / Week in the Gym.
                    • Chest / Back & Shoulders / Arms / Legs
                    • 30 Minutes of Cardio each regular day
                    • Work Abs alternate days

I'm paying special attention to the amount of protein I'm taking in. I just started using Syntha-6 and I like it so far. I know that potassium/bananas help your' body retain water, but I'm using the Banana flavored and mixing 1 cup with 12oz 2% Milk and 1 Banana. That's my usual breakfast.

I'm not so worried about the total fat in Milk. I'll burn most of the excess off in the gym.. I'm just focusing mainly on my protein intake and my amino acids. I'm looking to get into some kick *** shape before the end of the year.

                      Day #1

Current status: 6-3, 230 (probably around 15-18% body fat)
Goal physique: 6-3, 215 at 10% body fat

I was there before and just want to get back down. A couple months of solid diet and consistent workouts and I'll be right there.

The holidays were delicious and I overindulged.

                        I'm down for this too.

                        Current stats:

6'4", 220 lbs from the official Health & Wellness checkup today.

Goal is to stay at my current weight, lose approximately 5-8% body fat by mid year. I've not been below 12% per a caliper since I graduated the KSP Academy. Like the OP, the time in the cruiser killed my midsection, and workout discipline.

I am currently on a 4-5 day lifting regiment that I will continue, adding in cardio and P90X.

                          I'm in.

Right now my goal is to put on 10-15 lbs between now and the end of April. Hopefully the majority of it is muscle as I have a lot of room to grow, but any fat I put on I plan on trying to get rid of heading into the summer.

I've been eating >3200 calories a day for the past two weeks, usually 3500+ on days I workout. It's a bit too early to see results, but oddly enough 2 of the 3 times I've weighed myself since I started I was below what I started at.

Yeah I'm probably going to have to up my calorie intake some more to get the gains I want... but man how are you guys able to eat so much?

I work most days of the week so it's hard to find times to eat, and eating the right things.. I don't want to have junk and just go boom there's 1k calories in one meal.. I want to have wholesome nutritional food.
