Re: The Pleasures of Life Thread

I decided to treat myself today and signed up for DC Universe. It's awesome. I geeked out for several minutes as I scrolled through the menus. Can't wait for Titans, Young Justice and the other original programming.

I also finally set up the cable in my apartment, three-plus weeks after moving in, so I can watch baseball again. Life is good.

More importantly you can stand up, point your finger at whomever would be sitting in those chairs, and tell them, "The numbers don't lie!"

I can't remember is I posted this already or not because I have CRS.

Discovered by accident that when I heat up my coffee in my microwave for 60 secs., I open the door and the handle is facing me when the timer goes off. Ahhhh, the little things.

To borrow from the gear grinder thread, I'm apprehensive about ordering online because I have all sorts of neurotic issues about mail delivery or in-store pickup. Last time I did in-store pickup I rang the buzzer for help for 20 minutes before a manager finally walked by and asked if anyone was helping me.

So, couple days ago I noticed my local Walmart now has one of these giant towers for store pickup, and you can just walk up, scan the barcode of your order email, and pick up your item, and I'm totally psyched lol, maybe irrationally so, I can't wait just to try it out as soon as it's up and running

I love aerial blimp shots of sporting venues, as you not only get some of its exterior but also context with regard to where it fits inside its respective city. Hard to explain why I like them so much. Just fired up the DVR for the Bears-Lions matchup and was greeted with that from the onset, so I thought I'd bring it up heh.

I once did this thing where I turned off all the labels on Google Earth and sought all 30 MLB stadiums just by panning and zooming. It was actually pretty fun.

did that a year or two ago for NASCAR tracks. And I dont see the point in having blimps at domes.

Talking football with your wife’s grandmother (Steelers fan but we’ll let it slide)

Been bedridden the last couple days with a major stomach virus. The plus side? The one who brought it home to everyone (our two year old) was also exhausted so Mom, myself and him got major cuddles in this weekend. I remember staying home from school sick growing up and watching Nick Jr... here we are 20 years later and it’s the same story. They got some good content on there man. LOL

I totally agree with this. I love when they show you the stadiums and downtowns (or any sports venue - field, golf course, etc) for context. It's even better if you've been to the area, or are familiar with it, so you can look and see where landmarks are. I will often pause the TV on these shots and try to put things into perspective based on which part of town I'm familiar with.

As a corollary to this, I love when video games put the aerial shots in the intros as well. Really puts you in the atmosphere!

Getting to spend this time of the year actually having a baby around during the holidays is fun. Sucks I'm not on vacation yet, but nice motivation for final week. Seeing cousins with kids is one thing since I only see them once a year and am not so close, so it's not as big a feeling, but having a baby around I can babysit and spoil this time of year is fun.

Still feels weird to me realizing I'm supposed to be a role model for someone else and somewhat actually helping out on occasion taking care of them.
