Mike,

I am glad to hear that you are progressing so well. However, the police need to step up their investigation efforts in your case. Since you said they were able to determine the make/model/year of the van that hit you, couldn't they just do a search of those vans registered in a certain radius of your area? After that, they should see if anyone that has that specific van has a connection to any of the kids in your school. Even better would be checking all of the body shops in the area to see if they have serviced one of those vans in the last 5 months. If they get a hit, I'm sure they could do a little surveillance and either track down the van and/or dig up enough dirt to get a warrant. It's VERY tough to get away with a crime when you leave behind physical evidence in this day and age.

They did 2 radius checks for the van. One around my school and one around my neighbourhood. I was told that there were over 80,000 of these vans in Toronto, Ontario. They went to the homes that had this type of van (gold dodge caravan) and checked out the vehicles. The also contacted the dealerships and glass and body work places.

I'm amazed that this van and it's drivers just vanished. I trust that one day they will slip up and get caught.

I understand that they did the radius check, but they really should have cross referenced it against a list of all the male students in your school. Whether it be a parent, grandparent, aunt, uncle, cousin, neighbor etc. of someone in your school that has that van, you would have your attacker. I am almost positive that if they really dug in and did their homework they would at least get an extremely solid lead or two, if not completely solve the case. I don't know how law enforcement works in Canada compared to here in the USA, but this doesn't seem like a terribly hard case to solve in the grand scheme of things.

Awesome to hear your recovery Mike! Also can't wait to see you on Mike Holmes show! He's actually one of my heroes for what he does for people and the work he does is amazing. He's proving again why he's a man to look up to.

On a real note, I know what you're going through to some point. I had my baseball career ended from a UCL tear in my elbow. Not the same as what you're going through, but it was tough. I know you'll push through it. You have to get on the golf course. I always go to Arizona and have always said if I ever knew anyone on OS that loves golf, I would invite them to come play. I always play Scottsdale and a couple other nice ones.

Anyways, lol, I'll probably just invite you to a private chat on 360...haha

When I'm up and able to play, I would definitely be interested in this. Only thing, I would bring my wife. She has been a rock dealing with this situation, so she would definitely deserve to come. We golf, she shops!

Alright, a quick update. I'm doing well. I can walk with the aid of ski poles and I gave back my wheelchair. I'm hoping to go back to teaching in September. The case has gone cold. The police have exhausted all leads. Oh well!

Big News...Mike Holmes is doing a show about me and is renovating my backyard. His new show is called "Making It Right!". This is unbelievable and very generous of him and the network to do this. For my American friends, Mike Holmes has a tv show where he fixes homes for people who have had contractors take advantage of them (Holmes on Homes). The show about me is for a new series.

Aw man I watch Mike Holmes all the time.. I love that guy!

Please let us know when the episode comes out... someone needs to clone that guy. He's a freaking hero

Small Update:

The director and crew will be coming next Tuesday to start filming. Then they will schedule a day for Mike to come by and start the work. This is a crazy experience!

Just a little update on my recovery. I'm still very weak in my antigravity muscles, but I'm walking without poles, but I still use braces for my ankles. The pain is still bad but it has been worse. I'm unfortunately not going back to teach in September, hopefully 2014 will see me back in school teaching and coaching.

I'm adding a few pictures (sorry about the selfies)! The first picture is the day after the accident. My legs were paralyzed here! During this time I went from 195 pounds of muscles down to 145, do to atrophy.

The other pictures are current. I'm stuck at 178.5 pounds, not where I was before, but my legs are super skinny and I lost all my glutes. (FRIENDS DON'T LET FRIENDS SKIP LEG DAYS! Lol) I workout my legs in physio, but the nerves have not turned on yet, so the muscles are not functioning properly.

The last picture is from the surgery where the windshield glass was removed from my face 1 year and 2 months after the accident.

So to all those that have sent your blessings, prayers, kind words and those I spoke to on XBOX Live thank you. Know that I'm working very hard to get back to 100%.
