California has horrible gun laws, I was stationed there for almost 8 years and buying a firearm was ridiculous, when purchasing a firearm you have to pay for it up front including background check fees, then you wait 10 days crossing your fingers that your background check gets approved, then after 10 days you have a time window to pick it up... if your background check gets denied you can get a refund for the firearm minus a restocking fee... (some dealerships charge almost 20%) PLUS they do not tell you why you were denied. Thankfully I never had a problem, but a couple of my friends did and it was frustrating for them.
So glad to be out of that state!

Make me more envious, why don't you.
Can I buy something in Nevada and bring it over only having to register it? Or does that involve the same process?Comment

Outstanding collection Dan. The Henry is as smooth as silk. Here is a video of my son and a teammate sending some rounds downrange. How is that Henry to shoot? Always wondered...in vids I've seen looks like it kicks very little? VERY nice!
My wife and I love our guns. She's a little better shot than I am, too.
Mine:
Glock G19 (favorite)
S&W 642 (wife got it for me for my b-day
Springfield Loaded 1911 .45
Remington 870 shotgun
Wife:
S&W M&P9C
Springfield MilSpec 1911 .45 (her favorite. She's petite but she can drive nails with this thing)
Remington .22 rifle
Assorted knives
NFL:Packers
MLB:Reds/Tigers
NHL:Red Wings
NCAA:Michigan Wolverines.
F-1: Ferrari.
It's been a while OS. Hope all are doing well!Comment

Re: OS Firearms Thread
Currently all I have is a Remington 887 tactical nitro mag shotgun. Love it, recoil isn't bad at all.
I'm saving up to get a Glock G23 (.40).
Ultimately I'd like to add a nice rifle at some point, I just enjoy shooting and I have family that has a 400+ acre farm that we can safely shoot at.
My dad has a springfield XD .45. Not a bad gun but I can't stand the safety on the back of the grip. It's very sensitive, I was shooting it and then all of the sudden it wouldn't shoot. It took me a second and I put more deliberate pressure on the grip safety and it started shooting again. To me I didn't notice a difference in my grip but the gun sure did.Battle.net: xXKING08Xx

That was a cool vid! Kinda funny that the handgun seemed louder than the Henry when they were shot side by side! Man, that rifle looks like fun...and shootin in the woods like that looks much more fun than the indoor range.Outstanding collection Dan. The Henry is as smooth as silk. My XD45 is my favorite gun that I own right now. I've never had a problem with the safety, I tend to keep an extra firm grip when I shoot (not to the point where my hands are shaking but close). My wife shoots as well, in actuality she is more accurate with all our guns except for my 45XD.

It was probably an isolated incident but other than that it shot great.
A somewhat funny story, when we shot the XD it was the first time my dad shot a .45 since he was in the marines (he's in his early 60's). He didn't wear hearing protection and he didn't say anything at the time but about a month later he admitted that he had a ringing in his ears for a few weeks afterwards.Battle.net: xXKING08Xx

Re: OS Firearms Thread
Yeah, they are really cool, a combination of badass and elegance.
I got mine just because I thought it would be cool, and use primarily as a range gun. It's fun to shoot (I'm actually MUCH better with it one-handed than two), it's even kinda fun to take apart and clean. My wife fired a magazine through it and decided right there she had to have her own LOL.
However, for me personally, if someone's breaking the front door down at 1:30 in the morning I'll reach for my Glock 19 as it's been more reliable for me so far. I'll let my wife blast gaping holes in the intruders with hers LOL.GO 'HAWKS!

I wouldn't mind owning an AR or M4. I've shot both the civilian and military rounds out of an AR and its night and day... the 5.56 rounds will blow a hole through our Steele targets, without any problem.
We have a home made Target in the back yard. It's against the woods and there are Steele plates on chains, so rounds hit the targets and go straight to the ground or to the foot of the woodline...

Re: OS Firearms Thread
Everybody has their favorites but my buddy who is a Marine/Cop swears by Glock and I do to. They aren't the prettiest guns but they are very reliable, easy to shoot, easy to strip down and clean. As for caliber you can't beat the power of the .45 but personally I think the .40 gives you good power with better control. That's just me though and everybody has different preferences.Battle.net: xXKING08Xx
