Lol, of course it's socially acceptable.

If some dude (or chic) is saying you're not a man just because you own a cat, they aren't worth your time or trouble, and most likely are compensating for their own insecurities.

That said, I'm certainly not a fan; a) I'm allergic and b) I GREATLY prefer dogs.

This reminds me of when someone asked if someone was less of a man, because they know how to cook..

If someone lets owning a cat define their manhood.. something is definitely wrong.

        Exactly.

Most of the time, when a man makes fun of another man for the things he does, he's also going home alone every night.

I keep myself well-groomed, I know how to cook, and when I go out, my favorite drink is a screwdriver. Say what you want, but I also go home to a smokin' hot wife every night who loves that in a man... and here's a secret, so does just about every other woman

The same applies here... you take a girl home and she sees you care for and love an animal, you've already earned bonus points, so who gives a **** what your single-for-life buddies at the bar think.

Now if you take her home and you have ten cats running around... then you might have a problem

To be honest, I use to think it was weird. Then it changed when I was hanging out at my friends apartment a couple of years ago, one of the toughest and bravest guys I've ever met, and he owned a cat.

If cats didn't have fur I don't think I would own one. My cat is a mega pain in the ... though.. between her and the dog they wake me up at 6 am every morning.. not sure if you have ever woke up to a cat "kneeding" your leg, but it sucks.

any ways I wouldn't trade my furry companion for anything.. it helps with the ladies and people who own cats are 40% less likely to have heart attacks.

Only if he drapes the cat in velvet.

                  Cats are ****ing awesome.

If someone thinks I'm not a man because I own a cat, then that is pretty idiotic.

I've never been a huge fan of cats, but I lived with a guy in college that had 2, Black Zilla and Brown Zilla. Those cats were awesome. They would actually play with you and interact.

We had a game with Brown Zilla. He did this thing where he would head-butt you, then lick your nose. The game was to see how many times he would lick your nose after head-butting... I got 12 one time.

I have never owned a cat, but I wouldn't be opposed to getting one. From what I have seen cats are pretty entertaining. Plus, they don't demand attention like a lot of other animals do. I like that.

I have the best cat in the world. It ain't even close.

She never got full-grown. She's about 3/4 the size of your average cat. She's a calico. Just a sweetheart. Super tolerant. She has the cutest meows. She's currently living at my dad's (makes me sad) but when I go over she comes out of her hiding spots without me even calling her. She adores me. Everyone who ever came over, even if they didn't like cats, ended up walking out claiming her as the best ever.
