I too have been trying to avoid all of this. I have been having a really hard time with this, this is going to stay with my like the memory of 9/11 is still with us.

I thought the President speech last night was beautiful, along with Connecticut's governor. We as a country need to figure this out, we have a problem and we need to address it

Saw pictures of the kids on TV this morning and on the front page of our local paper. Tough to look at without getting a little emotional.

I've tried to avoid watching...it's a horrific tragedy no matter what but tough to see it happen to a bunch of kids. We were all that age before and being 6-7 we enjoyed school and interacting with others...so sad.

I just want to praise the heroics of the adults in this situation, plenty more innocent lives would have been taken away had it not been for these people. I would like to think many of us in that situation would do the same but we wouldn't know until it happens. It happened to them and they never once thought about themselves over their kids. I feel for families of the victims and not entirely sure how one can move on from something like this.

Evidently the kid had a room full of computers. You just KNOW they are goin to find a bunch of violent video games.

            Matter of time now.

Oh I know that, but if you don't think the media will run with this, your nuts.

Also, if you don't think more people will listen to them in a terrible scenario like this, your nuts.

It will not lead to a ban on violent video games, so I guess I don't really care.

Exactly. This goes far behind anything you can get from a movie or game. Of course there are always idiots like those condemning those that made the Mass Effect series to go to hell.

Disclaimer: THIS IS NOT A POST ABOUT POLITICS.

Did anyone catch the president's speech at the Vigil last night?

Pretty moving stuff, and probably the first time in a while that I've heard a politician make a speech that sounded like it was from the heart.

But as always, it's a shame that these revelations always have to come from something tragic.

The end of the day, this falls on us as a society. We all have to be better, as people, as parents, as neighbors. Be selfless, and treat others how you want to be treated. So maybe, just maybe, we can prevent another child from growing up, absent of any moral compass that would allow them to justify an act like this.

BINGO...The ROOT of this problem is the mental state of these idiots...& this person was obviously deranged.

I've already heard the argument and it's just a cop out.

If anyone mentions videogames, realize he was getting real life practice shooting guns at home, not on a console. Most people who own videogames, enjoy violent movies and entertainment can't say the same.

It's just like Columbine, and how those two were influenced by the music of Marilyn Manson. I'm sure that a good amount of people around my age had friends who listened to Marilyn Manson at that time who didn't do anything remotely similar to those asshats.

                              Its already started.

It was about 9:40 a.m. Friday. In just minutes, Lanza — a withdrawn, emotionally detached 20-year-old who lived with his mother and is said to have played graphically violent computer video games — would kill 26 people in the country's second-largest mass killing. Dead were 20 children, four teachers, the school principal and a school psychologist. Earlier in the morning, Lanza shot and killed his mother, Nancy, perhaps the only person with whom he was socially engaged.
