Modern country music isn't even country music. It's like light pop with the occasional twang sound.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

There's only a very, very select few country artists I'll listen to from the past decade or so: Toby Keith, Tim McGraw, Big and Rich, Carrie Underwood, and (if you consider some of his stuff country) Kid Rock.
Other than that, all of today's country is ****. Not a big fan of the old stuff either outside of Cash, but he's not really country IMO.Twitter: @TyroneisMaximus

Re: Uncommon Opinions
People have been listening to Country music for yeeeeears and that genre/sub genres have been bringing in big money for a long long time.
I don't think you can say there's a sudden urge for people to listen to it.
I listen to Country music from time to time, even if I prefer rock and metal. When I think of unbearable, I think of Nicki Minaj (sp), Bieber, etc. I don't think of George Jones, Aaron Lewis, George Strait, Jamey Johnson, and Garth Brooks.
I guess that's why its an opinion, right ?
My music playlists tend to be all over the place. We could go from Bring Me The Horizon to Dr. Dre and back to J Cole and then to Fleetwood Mac without even batting an eyelash. My musical taste always depends on the artist. I always feel like its more fair to judge artists rather than genres.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. Re: Uncommon Opinions
Taylor Swift, Hunter Hayes, and all these other so called "country" artists are unbearable though.
I pretty much listen to exclusively country music, but I cannot stand pop singers like Swift and Hayes that for whatever reason are considered country artists and played on country music stations. They have no place there.

I definitely consider Cash country, and I love all the older country. Cash, Charley Pride, Jerry Reed, Buck Owens, Conway Twitty, etc... But around the time I stopped listening (the early 2000's) I felt it getting a bit formulaic and tired. But any country from when I was a kid and before I love. But, as I've mentioned before, my music selection is super all over the place.MLB: Minnesota Twins

I'm a Taylor Swift fan and even I wouldn't consider her country lately
I just think any discussion about what music is good and what isn't is stupid. People listen to what they like and I listen to what I like. I'm not gonna say that the stuff I don't listen to is bad I just don't listen to itLast edited by jack1535; 06-17-2013, 11:23 PM.Buffalo Bills

I used to say the same exact thing but then I personally (I buy 90% of my games. I'll get one as a gift now and then) but then I experienced DRM ruin two of my favorite franchises firsthand.badComment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
who is close to him? KD hell no Lebron has done more at 25. Kobe is the only one I can think of who comes close and i'd still take Lebron because he's younger and can play more positions. People always diss Lebron and say he is overrated and all but he puts his team on his back. He wins MVPs like its nobodies business. I don't think there is a player close to him in what he can do.Comment

re: country
When did Aaron Lewis become a country singer? That's like Darius Rocker converting.
I don't listen to the radio so what is "mainstream" and what isn't never really comes into my mindset. Bands I like that I consider country would probably be "alt. country" like:
Ryan Bingham
Shovels & Rope
Hayes Carll
Justin Townes Earle
Loretta Lynn
Lindi Ortega
Tift Merritt
Neko Case
Lucinda Williams
Johnny Cash
The Highwaymen
Waylon
Willie
Garth Brooks (who is just as much a pop act as a country act)
Ryan Adams (depends on the album/band he's playing with)
Ha Ha Tonka
etc.

Re: Uncommon Opinions
I don't like country, but every now and then I come across a "pop country" song that's actually pretty good/that I like

Lebron is miles better than a guy like Gerald Wallace.
Not saying he is overrated either, just sick of the hype machine.YNWAComment
