Re: Uncommon Opinions
Someone should create a formula to quantify the level of boring-ness of each sport. I like tennis, I'm excited for Wimbledon starting up, but I know most people couldn't care less about tennis. I'm not going to try and convince them it's not boring, that's their opinion, not everyone has to share my opinions on everything... now THAT would be boring.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
For those who say "blank" sport is boring, I'm willing to bet you don't understand it (and that's fine).
I have a friend I work with who HATED baseball. He'd rather have surgery that have to watch the game. One night we were on duty together and I was watching a game…he asked me how I could watch grown men throwing a ball around with no action. I asked him to sit down with me and I'd explain in detail EVERYTHING going on in ONE at bat. So he did…and he was blown away at everything that was going on. The cat and mouse game with the runner, the defensive positioning as the count changed, the thought process of the hitter, the catcher/pitcher working together. He ended up finishing the game with me and later got some books on baseball…he now understands the game and loves it, watches/listens to it on his own time.
My point is I'm willing to bet most of the things we find 'boring' are really things we just don't understand...Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
75% or better of the people who dislike baseball say they don't like watching it, but they enjoy playing or seeing a game live.
I have never met anyone who doesn't at least have a basic understandings of the game. It's not that difficult of a concept to grasp.
It's just a difficult sport to enjoy on TV.
My possibly uncommon sports opinion: baseball shouldn't be considered America's favorite past time. I think it's football now.Comment

I think when you see people say they don't like baseball because they don't understand it they aren't talking about not understanding the basic concept of baseball because like you said it's simple.
Usually it's said about people not understanding the intricacies of the game that make those parts of the game boring to some yet exciting to others.
Again, not advocating it for those who find the game boring and I get it, just pointing that out....Comment

l3ulvl said it best and I don't think it fair to get into telling people what is or isn't boring to them but just to clarify this post a bit.

My point was that when I hear people say they don't like watching it, that it's boring and nothing happens, etc, I am willing to bet they aren't following all the intricacies of the game within the game. Maybe they are and they find that boring…that's fine too, but don't tell me it's boring because "nothing is going on"."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. Re: Uncommon Opinions
Yes, this was the point I wasn't making very well earlier…and honestly I thought we were just talking about 'watching' it, not playing it, because that's what the discussion was about.

That being said, some random game in the middle of the baseball season can just put me to sleep sometimes. All the downtime in baseball spent waiting drives me nuts, even if it's a good game.
That's why I usually just watch the playoffs...that's electric. Regular season? Not as much.
Even soccer, I don't watch tons of EPL or whatnot, I don't have time and it's way early in the morning. World Cup is the best soccer ever, and it's essentially the playoffs. How can you not get into that intensity?Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
I have no problems with people saying "I find (sport) boring", people are entitled to their opnions. However just saying "(sport) is boring" makes it sound like if you find it boring, then obviously everyone should too. I know thats not what people mean when they say that, but how I interpret their meaning is different.Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
I love Nascar, but most find that boring. "Cars going in circles, wow."
And that sport was born in the USA. GTFO if you don't like it.
Kidding. I don't care who likes it or doesn't.Last edited by Segagendude; 06-24-2014, 01:25 AM.Comment
