At least the couple steakhouses I've been to have always been like that. Not a huge difference, but still a difference on top of the cooking of the steak.badComment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
Apparently, this is uncommon:
There's nothing wrong with popular music today. There always has been, and there always will be, crappy music that becomes popular. SOMEBODY gave MC Hammer all his money.

Re: Uncommon Opinions
Having said that, I think the amount of corporate-produced, souless, same-sounding, glossy crap that is proliferating the airwaves these days is very disproportionate to what we got when I was comin up. You know, back when they signed artists because they liked how the artist sounded and what they did, vs hiring them to play only what the label wants them to play. Creative freedom in popular music is either taken from the artist, or artists don't have any fresh ideas anymore.
We are overdue for a music revolution. Nirvana and their ilk led the last one, and that was over 20 years ago.
Country music and hip hop dominate now.
Back to my old cds....LOL.

Re: Uncommon Opinions
Yeah, but you've had corporate produced music groups ever since the 1920s.

Just about every one of his albums had at least one postive/gospel influenced type of song in it. Most pop acts today wouldn't even think about trying anything like that.
Your point is right though that there's always been drivel but as Lieutenant Dan says the ratio between crap and quality is so far off the scale these days. Indeed, there needs to be some kind of revolution in the pop music field. Who knows when it'll happen though.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

There's some group of kids somewhere making the new **** in their basement that will just come and crush everything in its path like Nirvana and the Beatles and Sabbath did before them.HELLO BROOKYLN.

Re: Uncommon Opinions
The big thing today is the power of the blogosphere and the internet. I think it will be rare for a single band to emerge and propel a new scene, but there's tons of great music out there and its easy as hell to find.

An internet connection is all you need to find what you perceive to be good music. We live in an age where discovering nearly everything music has to offer is easier than ever.
Spotify, Youtube, & Google are really all a novice internet user needs to navigate music and discover something they like but never knew existed.

Re: Uncommon Opinions
I say XM radio makes it even more easier. I will be perfectly honest and say when I go to Youtube, I just type in the names of the people and songs I already know. So therefore I very rarely venture outside of known stuff. But with XM, I have no control over who gets played and got exposed to way more new people that way.Comment

Ha, they really are. Nothing those two say is any different than the some of the outlandish statements we've all seen posted on here.
Only difference being Collin & Skip are paid hefty salaries to be over the top with their opinions.

Its not like the "mainstream" is in dire straits anyway. I mean since the grunge revival we've had Radiohead, White Stripes, Black Keys, Queens of the Stone Age, and a ton of other great acts emerge.
