Then why did it ever leave the NFL?

I get what you're saying (especially in college), but I really have to think that it'd get shut down in today's NFL. I would 100% love seeing it get a legit shot though, that would be awesome! I love thinking outside the box.

      Re: Uncommon Opinions

There's a big misconception about a lot of spread offenses too.

The spread isn't just the spread anymore. Coaches are stepping outside the box and being creative and putting their own spin on things.

Example: Malzahn at AU gets mentioned for his "wide open" attack, but in reality we will probably run the ball close to 60% of the time and it won't just be read option plays, they'll line up and run it right up the middle from the gun with a lead blocker.

I just hate the thought and elitist opinon held by a lot of diehard NFL fans that the NFL can't learn or pick up something from the college game, especially when you have some great coaches who spent time in the college game or they are consulting high profile college coaches on what they are doing. The Patriots are a perfect example of this.

edit At the end of the day, a solid read option requires a quarterback that is a legit threat to pass the ball. Guys like RG3, Cam, Kapernick, etc. are also decently accurate to really accurate passers. If these NFL coaches are as smart as advertised, they will put them in whatever position helps them succeed the most. At the moment, it's in a more spread look. As the game eveolves and time goes on, we may see some of that change.

It's hard to blame guys for going with what works right now.

Oh we're discussing offenses that won't work in the NFL?

Triple option in the NFL is a great idea!! Patriots, Dolphins, Bills, get on that.

There was one team in our district in HS who ran the Single-Wing and they were awful, but that offense made them semi-tough to defend when they were running it well... which wasn't often and we normally beat them by at least 40, until the year after I graduated when their 6'8" star basketball player (who now plays at UNI) took over as QB and they switched to a spread offense and played us to a 7 point game.

Modern country music is actually pretty good.

I know this isn't super uncommon, but from someone who was mostly pop/rock/alternative in the 90's it is. I always used to think of old country as just hokey and for cowboys or something.

Now that I've given it a chance (the fiancee loves it lol) I actually kinda like it. Country has definitely fused with pop more, while keeping some of its unique qualities.

Right because 95% of the players from College all have proper fundamentals as well.

There's a difference between outliers and a difference between a nice chunk of your players still struggle with basic concepts and only try to get by on their "athleticism".

I can give you examples if you like.

Good players in the NBA just get trained on the job, so they suck more early on in their careers. Compared to a few extra years in college where they hone their fundamentals and end up better prepared for the pros.

Athletically some of these kids are ready as HS seniors, but not fundamentally. Not every athlete is KG, LeBron, or Kobe (and even they took a few years to mature)

Short version is I have one son from a previous marriage, who is a mini-me and we're very close, but I don't relate to little kids so it took us until he was in jr high to really connect. Now I'll blubber when he moves out this summer, bet on it.

The other four are from my wife's previous marriage. The older two are awesome kids and doing fine. The younger two....oyyy.....especially the youngest son (18). They actually drove me over the brink (bit of a mental breakdown) a few years ago, and I'm recently back on speaking terms with the youngest girl and nowhere NEAR speaking terms with the son.

I will say that I still love all of them (really really really really deep down somewhere for he whom shall not be named), and definitely do pray for their happiness (and good choices).

I reluctantly admit that I was probably not cut out to be a dad, or at least a dad to so many.

What a downer post in a fun thread....sorry guys. Back on topic.
