Please keep the triple option wishbone in college, thanks. Those teams bore me to tears. But it is amazing to see it run well on a good defense.

Because it might work for a while then it'll get figured out and cast aside as inoperable. Until the next fool 20 years from now tries it and thinks they've stumbled on some genius thing.Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
Isn't that any strategy?
At one point, it was thought that a multi-back, pass first offense was a gimmick. Was the single back, 30 carry strategy of the 90s a gimmick?
It's not a gimmick, the game is evolving.Last edited by dsallupinyaarea; 03-24-2013, 11:42 PM.NFL - Vikings

Re: Uncommon Opinions
I like to watch it in college because it's an anomaly... if everyone starts running it, it'll get boring, much like spread offenses are now.Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
In my opinion, whether only one team runs it or 100 teams run it, the triple option, when executed correctly, is beautiful to watch. In small school Iowa football, you see quite a bit of the option and option style looks and reads, and when it was executed correctly (which it often wasn't) it was amazing. Now imagine pro teams, with the best players in the world, running the option to perfection. I don't think it could possibly be boring, personally.MLB: Minnesota Twins

Well, I guess if it'll work, it'll stay. If it doesn't, it'll go away.Comment

I gotta say, the short time I played as a single wing QB/"spin back" in HS football was a blast. RB was always my favorite position, but the spin back position was pretty awesome.Comment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
Why do you think the triple option would work in the NFL now? Just wondering...isn't there a reason teams stopped using it in the NFL?
I dunno, I feel that NFL defenses adapt very fast, so would shut this down in a few years.
See RG3. I bet next year teams will be more ready for that brand of offense.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

The defense always adapts and it wont work arguments make me chuckle as if offenses and offensive nfl players are just pathetic and don't adapt as well.HELLO BROOKYLN.

Re: Uncommon Opinions
It might be hard to find an NFL option QB today though, although maybe that's one offense Tebow might actually be sought to run.
The way defenses clobber ballcarriers in the current NFL, option QBs wouldn't last long IMOWolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Re: Uncommon Opinions
What about the Wildcat? What about it made it easy to shut down? I dunno, maybe the fact that you had an RB under center and you knew the run was more than likely on its way. In an option offense, even though you still know a run is on its way, there are more people to account for, thus making it more difficult to stop if you mess up your assignments.MLB: Minnesota Twins
