    Was it this?....

Also this is the BBQ Easy Off...

Wasn't this brand (got them for christmas as a stocking stuffer), but very similar. If you look you see that the wipe has the plastic/rubber bumps that help get stuff off.

I think he's talking about OzKleen oven and grill wipes. I've used those in commercial settings before to get grease and stuff off equipment wheels and grates. Very good wipes but not cheap.

Well whatever you guys use, just don't use water.
Most grill grates are made of iron or some type of rust able metal. Few are stainless steel.
Always use oil to clean and always make sure your grill is hot.

Per Weber's cleaning instructions. Warm soapy water can be used to clean the exterior or interior of a grill. Once clean, you might want to re-season the grill by smoking some wood and cooking some real fatty bacon to get a nice smoke grease layer built up again.

Now it has this funky smell inside

I'm planning on buying a new grill, but until then I wanted to see if there was anything I can do to salvage it?

I was going to take a pressure washer and clean it out that way as best as possible, then cure the grill all over again.
Exactly what kind of grill is it? And more importantly, what type of cooking surface?

Love seeing the WSM in action. Hoping the weather clears up here soon so I can bring mine out and use it.

What's the other? Is it a Chargriller?

He cooked two butts on it. Turned out okay, although he had to make quite a few adjustments quite often to keep the temp stable.

For a good dedicated smoker, an ugly drum smoker is the way to go. It's basically a $400 22.5" WSM, only you drill a couple holes and make it for under $100.
