I got some hickory wood chips to grill with. I know some of you guys have used these before. Any tips?

          Get yourself one of these:

Cast iron smoke box. Just throw the chips in there dry. You can use aluminum foil, but the results aren't as good. Same for a steel box, just get the cast iron, they are cheap.

How does it compare to doing meat in an actual smoker? I just looked on Amazon. 15 bucks for that thing is much better than buying a whole smoker, lol.

I have something like that too.

This one is $45 but I got it free and you can use it on the stop top too.

Hit up the pepperjack and bacon burgers again, but only cooked for myself.

They came out perfect. Spicy, juicy, slightly charred, and the slightest of light pink.

I've literally grilled 4 nights in a row.

Lowes you can get one closer to $10 IIRC.

Doesn't compare to a real smoker at all, it's for smokey flavor in grilled foods. You can smoke in anything, just need indirect, low flame. If you can keep the inside temperature where you want it, you can smoke in it. A grill fire is too hot for wood, they will burn and burning wood doesn't taste good, you need a slow smolder, which is what the cast iron box provides.

Interesting. Might be a good substitute for not living in Kansas City, I think.

4th of July sales. God how tempting.

Planning on doing chicken bacon-ranch quesadillas tonight or tomorrow. Definitely gonna be doing some steak this weekend.

Made a special late night dinner for the wife and I.

Penne Pasta with a Vodka Cream Sauce topped with grilled Shrimp, Peppers, Mushrooms and Eggplant and finished off with a Chocolate Chip Fudge Cake for dessert.
