Re: Do we have ghosts?
That sounds a lot like the Heidi Wyrick case. Anyone interested in this type of stuff should look that one up. Tons of stuff on the web about it.My friend's daughter apparently sees ghosts. She's around maybe 4 years old or so. They've never watched any paranormal type shows with her around, not even Scooby Doo or anything like that.
She describes them as looking like real people only you can see through them. She tells them they are nice, and that they are always around and they come and go as the please. She says they walk through walls and that they don't just stay in the house.
Well my friend's wife recently found out she was pregnant. The daughter actually said to her "my ghosts said that you're going to have a baby" even before they took the test to find it out.
The second crazy thing is that she's been having nightmares and she says that there are bad ghosts who want to hurt her, but the good ghosts tell her that they will protect her.
Whether or not it's just kids being kids type of stuff, that is some crazy stuff to hear.Comment

My friend lives in a haunted house, he would tell some spooky stories, I was made a believer over time though. His house is one on the oldest in Onondaga county(over 200 years old) and it was a house on the Underground Railroad. We would be around the usual spooky stuff: stuff falling out of cupboards, lights turning on by themselves, or walk into a room with a chair rocking. The spookiest thing by far though was something that his entire family heard and myself heard, from a air vent we heard someone say " get me out of here".
They still live there to this day but they are just used to it, not sure if I could get used to something like that.My dog's butt smells like cookiesComment

Re: Do we have ghosts?
While I never really believed in "ghosts" per se, since moving into my current home back in 1999 I have experienced some strange stuff. We've had issues with lights, strange noises from the floorboards (almost like steps) coming from upstairs when nobody was up there and some other weird ****.
However, I have never "seen" anything beyond the realm of physical impossibility nor have I experienced anything that couldn't be explained using science. So, while I have an open mind now, until I "see" something like an apparition with my own eyes, I am still a bit more skeptical than most.Comment

Re: Do we have ghosts?
I never strongly disbelieved in them when I was younger, I just didn't know. Now as for myself I know. I have seen 2 ghost in my life now.
The first one I saw was at my cousins house. We had just gotten to her place after work and it was late and no one else was there. We were standing in the kitchen talking and all of a sudden we both looked at the hall leading to the living room and saw a person standing there. The person disappeared all of a sudden and we both just looked at each other and said "Did you see that?" We were both like "YES!" We had other things happen like the tv going off by itself one night, she had all her movie on this wall rack and they starting coming out one night while we were sitting there, and they just weren't falling out, they were coming out like 2 feet from the wall before they hit the ground. Lots of other tings happened I could go on for a while.
They other ghost I saw was an old man at my grandfathers house. I was staying with him because his health was bad and needed someone around, and I woke up one morning and there was an old guy standing there looking at me. He waved to me and I waved back thinking it was my grandfather. I closed my eyes and as soon as I did I thought hey that wasn't my grandfather. So I got up and checked and my grandfather was still in bed sleeping. A minute had only gone by and there was no way for him to get back to bed that fast so I know it wasn't him. Plus when I asked him later he said it wasn't him. He also told me he saw a man in the house one night when he first moved in and couldn't find anybody in the house.
Another weird thing that happened there was one night I went out to close the windows in my car and locked the cat in there. He would climb in there and sleep, and it was dark when I shut the windows and didn't see him in there. Well my car had these buttons you just pushed for the headlights. So at about 6am my grandfather came out and woke me up saying my headlights were on. I went out and found the cat had turned them on. I asked him how he knew the lights were on and he said someone was banging on the door until he woke up, but when he got to the door no one was there. That's when he saw the lights. If someone was banging on the door how come I didn't hear them?Comment

Re: Do we have ghosts?
You are right. Here are a couple.
1) The first incident we had was pretty crazy. We were shining a flashlight down one of the hallways were they had some rooms. Each room's door was facing another room on the opposite side of the hallway. Me and my buddy from college were just talking quietly shining the light down the hallway when a dark figure came of one of the doors on the right and walked over to a door on the left. We were a little bit taken aback at first and a couple seconds later were running into that room. When we got there, there was nobody inside but the room was freezing. Really odd occurrence all the way around.
2) They have a boy's wing and a girl's wing in this building on opposite sides, both on the third story. There is a funky set of stairs leading up to each. We sat down in a young girl's room who is supposedly seen quite often there. We decided to do EVP's. We asked, "If anyone is up here please make a sign of your presence." As soon as the question was asked, it sounded like three or four children were running up the steps we just came from, I mean running. Scared me to the brink of sharting. I shined a flashlight down the hallway to the top of the stairs, nothing. Upon replay of the EVP, about 10 seconds of dead space and then a young girl (there were about 4 grown men doing the hunting) said "I'm home". I will ask my buddy Doug if he stills has the file, we were doing this for a project of his.
There were a plethora of other little bumps, footsteps, temperature changes and an odd instance of sound we couldn't figure out. Those were the two that stick out in my mind though. Now hopefully I can get rid of these goosebumps.Last edited by VTPack919; 07-11-2013, 07:18 AM.YNWAComment

That would freak me out too.
I would love to hear it if he still has the file.Comment

First...

And secondly, the old DeJarnette's building here in town would be...interesting to see. Also, the Western State compound would be interesting. I wonder if the residents in those apartments encounter anything freaky.

Re: Do we have ghosts?
I have wanted to do the DeJarnette's building so bad. I really do miss the thrill of being in a "haunted" place at night, there is nothing like it.
I have another buddy who was renovating what I am guessing is an old prison complex across from Wright's Dairy-rite (probably Western State like you were saying). He has a few stories that will really make you go WTF.YNWAComment

Re: Do we have ghosts?
I think that's still part of the Western State property. Its had a shakey history and I get the bumps just driving by there. Supposedly they want to turn one of the buildings into a hotel and spa (I guess kind of like a bed and breakfast).I have wanted to do the DeJarnette's building so bad.
