    Re: Do we have ghosts?

Only ghost encounter I may have had is a friend of my grandfathers who passed.

I got up during the night to go to the restroom and walked through the living room where I swear I saw my grandfathers friend who had passed, sitting in the same chair he would always sit in when he came out. I always figured it was just me being sleepy. I never really thought much about it.

Not trying to turn this into a religious topic but I'm curious what concept you follow that makes you so certain ghosts don't make sense.

Edit: I'm not really ready to talk specifics yet but mom passed away two months ago and since that day some odd things have happened to me and I've seen some things I can't begin to scientifically explain.

The concept is that in reality, they simply make no sense. That's about it. I don't really have any motivation to make much of a post on it, though - because people will believe what they will, and it seems mostly pointless to really go into length with such discussions.

The premise makes perfect sense to me.

That says nothing. I guess your reality is different then mine. In my reality they make a whole lot of sense.

Because a question was asked. I'm pretty sure the OP didn't ask for a detailed thesis on the possibility of ghosts... Unless I missed that; then I apologize.

                  Re: Do we have ghosts?

Call this a paranormal, supernatural or a ghost experience. I don't care, this is simply something that I went thru and I thought it would be good to share with the people that visit this forum.

When I was in middle school, I was driving with my parents around town when out of the blue, my mother had a seizure. Luckily, we were 1/2 a mile from the only hospital in town and got her there quickly. Certain things happened from that moment, up to when she passed 18 months later to the brain cancer that we found out she had a few days after that first seizure, that is very difficult to explain and quite frankly I wouldn't expect anyone to believe it all if I did tell them.

Before I go into detail; let me tell you that the part of her brain which was affected was the speech area. I tell you this so you wouldn't think it was the area that affected what she saw, like an illusion or something of that nature.

The most memorable "strange" occurrence happened about 3 or 4 hours after the first seizure. My mother was released from the ICU and placed in a normal room in the general hospital ward. She was talking normal, knew who everyone was, knew what day it was etc etc.

My dad and I went in immediately and were just happy to be with one another again. After the hospital staff got her all set up, they left. A minute or two later, this nurse comes in and in the midst of this nightmare that had been our lives for the past 4 hours, the room felt like it had suddenly became filled with this incredibly relaxing aura that this nurse seemed to radiate. I remember she was very pretty, she had the softest most calming voice I have ever heard, short blonde hair and beautiful blue eyes.

She came up and introduced herself with "Hi Linda, Victor (my dad) and Harold (me) I'm Nurse Joy." We all said hello, then she looked at my dad, me then my mom, smiled and said "Linda, don't worry, everything's going to be OK. I'll be keeping my eye on you." She smiled and walked out.

A few minutes later, my mom asked my dad to get her another pillow. He walks out to the nurses' station and asks the nurse sitting at the desk to have nurse Joy bring a pillow next time she comes to the room. That nurse informs him there is no nurse Joy. My dad points to the chalkboard that is literally next to her on the wall behind the desk she's sitting at, and it shows which room each nurse has. Every other nurse has at least 2 rooms, my mom was the only one that Joy was in charge of. The nurse said she remembers writing the correct nurses name in that box when she got the info an hour prior and she hadn't moved from her desk since then.

The hospital floor we were on had maybe 30 patient rooms, it was a small floor and the nurses knew one another. No one had ever heard of a person named Joy and none of them were blonde and female. My mother and I were blonde and my parents and I all have blue eyes. This was back in 93-95. For the majority of that time, you wouldn't be able to tell if anything was wrong with my mom. The tumor remissioned for about a year and I'm very thankfully for that time.

There were a few other things in that time frame that I can't explain how or why they happened.

My dad and I never physically saw Joy again. However, during the chemo, when I knew life had to be hellish on my mom, I knew she kept Joy close to her heart. Even when facing death, my mom never worried, she knew everything was going to be OK.

I don't believe in ghosts, but I believe you and that's a pretty ****ing strange story.

I don't see what that story has to do with ghosts. Sounds like an impersonator.

The story implies that nurse joy was like an angel giving comfort to the person's mother. So it is a ghost in a sense as she was never seen again and didn't exist to the hospital staff.

I understood the story. An impersonator can pose as a nurse, leave the hospital and never be seen again. I'm not sure what you're trying to say.

I don't think an imposter (not an impersonator as she wasn't Nurse Jackie) would go troll a family with a single visit and not be seen by anybody else.

And it's much more likely that she was a ghost?

And she was an impersonator if she wasn't really a nurse. Ever heard of impersonation of a doctor, police officer, etc. These are crimes.

Always apply logic or science before assuming there was some sort of paranormal activity.

Where's the logic in visiting one room one time if you're posing as nurse of a hospital's staff? Where's the science in nobody else seeing her especially if she slipped by the nurse at the desk to change the chalkboard behind the nurse sitting there?
