    A 777 is a huge plane.

That would be a pretty big feat.

As for the plane flying on and phones still working...that would lend to rapid decompression....but even that doesn't seem plausible.
I'm pretty sure the cockpit is a separate entity in that regards....cabin decompression is not necessarily going to effect the cockpit(unless the door was open at that exact instant)....and even then...nobody gets to the emergency O2?(especially the pilot or co-pilot who would be at the controls)

    Tragic...but interesting.

We did it in the Army a couple of times with the big C-130 Cargo planes. They are a pretty big plane as well. Not saying it would not be difficult, but certainly not impossible. I am not even saying really that it's likely. I'm just saying that is what my brain is kicking up. There are just so many really very strange occurrences with this incident, I cant see it not setting off some alarms somewhere.

This is a double-edged sword. For the sake of the passengers, I hope they're still alive. If there is something being planned, I hope there is a way they can get out of this unscathed.

I'd prefer this doesn't end with us just finding it in the water, but there obviously are much, much worse alternatives.

My gut is saying what some former FBI guy said in the Gawker article Bruins posted: it is/was terrorism, but is one piece of a larger puzzle. Someone mentioned a lot of these passengers were computer chip engineers or something? They're using them to make something disastrous.

            That's my crazy theory.

I dunno. That or it crashed into the ocean and we won't find it for a while.

So crazy that this can happen! I know it's super rare, but we have all this technology and think we're so smart, but we can't even account for this big *** plane.

I pray for closure for the families. Nothing worse then that emptiness of not knowing. I can't imagine.

That would make for an excellent television plot.

Like you said, it's unbelievable that with our technology these days, we can't find this thing.

U.S. officials have an "indication" the missing Malaysia Airlines jetliner may have crashed in the Indian Ocean and is moving the USS Kidd to the area to begin searching. It's not clear what the indication was, but senior administration officials told ABC News the missing Malaysian flight continued to "ping" a satellite on an hourly basis after it lost contact with radar.

It will take another 24 hours to move the ship into position, a senior Pentagon official told ABC News.

I think this is a reminder that while our technology feels like it has shrunk the world, it's still a pretty freaking big place.

For the record, I think this is the work of terrorists.

But at what point do we start considering stuff like this?

"Mind-bending possibility #2, the "Stargate" explanation: A teleportation portal of some kind exists in the skies, through which the plane inadvertently flew and was teleported somewhere else. Yet, astonishingly, electromagnetic signals can still make it through the portal, and the two sides of the portal remain in contact across the radio spectrum. (This explanation sounds like pure science fiction and also seems extremely unlikely, yet we must at least acknowledge that modern physics has already demonstrated the instantaneous teleportation of information across apparently infinite space due to the "non-locality" of entangled electrons as described in quantum theory.)"

I'm just at a total loss for words on this whole scenario.

People also have to remember that they're not looking for a huge 777 floating on water. They're looking for plane wreckage scattered across thousands of miles of open ocean. Big difference.

At this point, strangely enough, they can't afford to just assume it's wreckage. Quite frankly, I don't think anybody knows what happened to the plane. I certainly believe there is information not being made available to us. But there seems to be a new "legit" theory sent out to the media every day for what could of happened. I'm not sure if I truly believe the plane couldn't have landed somewhere intact, right now. There's just far too little proof for either side of it all.

Here's a dumb question, how come we haven't used any drones to look? I think releasing a handful of those cruising the waters will help gain more ground.

                                Absolutely.

Shoot, I know our technology is crazy advanced, and I also know my wifi randomly goes out, too. It ain't perfect. Obviously this is on a more grand scale with more advanced tech then my home wifi, but it more so surprises me that we can do all the things we can then it surprises me that it slips up or has limitations. I don't 100% trust my devices to always work perfectly... They mess up too often for me to ever get that comfortable!
