Re: Missing Malaysian Plane
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) - Malaysian official says investigators conclude missing jet was hijacked, steered off-course.

.....well, if that's the case, then this thing better be in the ocean somewhere.
I'm just hoping some Jack Bauer type can find these guys before time runs out. I'm obviously for an "average case scenario" in that nothing results from this by it being in the water, but it would be nice to salvage this debacle and sabotage the possible crisis at hand.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Missing Malaysian Plane
Malaysia is not like the USA or other major powers. Same for the other countries other than China. If this happens in one of the major countries, the plane would have been found by now. They are working with 2/3rd world technology and leadership. They don't have organization, communication, etc so you get this clueless stuff.
With them finally confirming it was hijacked or pilot(s) did it, I wonder if someone shot it down and they don't want to say it.
For the pilot having a flight simulator at home, I don't think that matters at all. The pilots know how to fly the plane, they don't need to practice anything. Even if they wanted to fly a specific path, they could just put the GPS coordinates in and fly there.Comment

I believe what the PM meant was the plane could have been travelling in the direction of Kazakhstan, not that it was pinged in Kazakhstan:
"Based on the direction in which the plane flew, the plane could have headed in one of two possible corridors. Mr Najib noted that the Northern corridor stretches from border of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan to Northern Thailand, while the Southern corridor ranges from Indonesia to Southern Indian Ocean."

Re: Missing Malaysian Plane
Normally I would agree about practicing and flight simulation. I think what he was practicing was the landing of the plane in an area where this type of plane does not land. just my thoughts.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Re: Missing Malaysian Plane
Why can these transponders even be disabled by the pilot? In what scenario would or ever need to be turned off. Seems like there should be tracking and flight status reporting equipment tucked away in the untraceable parts of the plan that would need to be destroyed to stop working.Comment

The FDR(black box) contains all the flight info. That cannot be shut off....
The transponder...a simple flick of a switch...
Why?...I don't know....
But the other avionic communications seem to be more complicated....this only muddles this further...
