It's kinda overrated to host that type of event coming from a cost perspective. Look how many building are abandoned that were used just for the Olympics.

I agree with the cost. The abandoned buildings thing is something that I think the US wouldn't have nearly as much trouble with as most countries. I think the only thing in Atlanta that fell into disrepair was the tennis facility. I think Boston would have been smart enough to avoid it as well.

Still, avoiding the Olympics all together is probably smart for the cost reason. I think the last ones in LA were the last ones that actually made money.

The Olympics really just need to have one set location. I think in the next 20 years or so we will eventually get to something like that.

I doubt it. Unless the permanent home becomes Qatar, because they are rich and attention whore-ish enough to just pay off the rest of the world. They'd build a dome over the country to host the winter games too.

That will never happen - there is too much money in it for certain groups of people.

Look at the World Cup in Brazil. They already had adequate stadia to host the World Cup, but they built all new ones because that puts money into the pockets of construction giants. The people running the IOC are the same kinds of people running FIFA.

Yeah that's true. I did read an article that said the amount of bids they normally get has dropped from 22 to 5.

I'm pretty sure you could count on one hand the number of Olympic Games that have actually made money. I believe LA was the first time that there was THAT level of profit involved, thus the extreme commercialization of every subsequent Games.

But yeah, the IOC is definitely corrupt as hell. It's, at the very least, on the level of FIFA.

Tried to find a college football preview magazine in arlington TX. They had like 8 pro football ones, and only a texas one for college/hs. Disappointed. More disappointed in how fantasy football is becoming so dominant
