    Re: 2015 FITNESS CHALLENGE

Last month I applied for life insurance and had my tests done.

Everything came back fine except my blood pressure and cholesterol are both higher than average. Neither of them are "terrible," but are in the area of necessary improvement in order to get back in the good ranges.

Its rather timely considering I started exercising two weeks ago and have been working out a food "manifesto" of sorts of what to do/don't do, what to limit and avoid, and coming up with healthy substitutes.

The hard part is going to be going to the in-laws and somehow avoiding fried foods and saturated fats.

Still not 100% after bruising my ribs, but I have felt good enough to start running and biking again. I managed to run 7 miles yesterday and didn't have any lingering issues with the ribs.

I still can't lift weights or do bodyweight exercises yet, but at least I can do something.

        Re: 2015 FITNESS CHALLENGE

Been a good while since anyone posted in this thread. Anyone still working out? Exercising?

I finally got my butt back in the gym 2 months ago after a long lay off.. crazy time early in this year. Worked 2 jobs for a little bit, changed jobs, had some personal stuff going on, and since then everything has settled down.

Down side for the 6 months I laid off I lost a lot of weight, mostly muscle. (because of my thin frame, and fast metabolism) Was a shock getting back in the gym mostly all of my strength was gone, was struggling with weight that used to be easy. So I dropped the weight, sometimes going back to bodyweight and just focused on quality repetitions. Now I'm noticing my strength is coming back, and I'm slowly starting to build muscle again. (fixing up my diet)

Still not back to where I was in 2014 when working out was a huge priority in my life, but I'm determined to finish 2015 off right; and absolutely kill it in 2016.

I've been meaning to post an update, but didn't want to jinx myself.

I completed one round of Insanity and will be halfway through round 2 at the end of next week. Normally I do not weigh myself and let the mirror show the results, but after every Fit Test (every 2 weeks) I've been weighing myself since starting 10 weeks ago. At the start I was 205lbs and this past weigh-in (Monday) I am down to 190. So clothes are fitting better and I can get back into all my medium shirts once again.

Yeah man. I got down to 145 (started out at 225 of mostly fat) so I decided to start bulking. Been doing it for about three months and I am 155 right now (170 is what I want to be) Using the Body Transformation Blueprint and every week I am putting more weight on the bar. Once I hit 14% BF I am going to cut down to 8% BF and rinse and repeat. I'm loving this lifestyle.

Wow from 225 down to 145? That's amazing progress; and you've bulked properly to 155 on top of that?

Doing a slow, and steady bulk is the right way to go. Don't load up on junk food, but treating myself every once in a while; and my weight is steadily going up. Only weighing myself about twice a week, trying not to get obsessed with the scale.

              Good job man.

                Good job man.

Thanks man. I ate a ridiculously low amount during my year plus cut. Trying to do things the right way now.

Yeah I'm eating +300 on most days. Weekends I eat more what's funny is I am starving most of the time now while when I was cutting I wasn't as hungry. Go figure.

Been working out where and when I can. I've traveled a lot for work the past 2 months, including a stretch where I was gone for 13 straight days. I traveled with resistance bands and running shoes, so was able to either go for a run in the morning or evening, or do a 20-minute circuit in my room with the bands.

I knocked out an 8-mile run yesterday, which was the longest run I've gone on since completing a half-marathon in June. I had a deep-tissue massage over the weekend, and man, that really helped me feel good on the run. Should've gotten one a couple of months ago, as I was struggling to complete 5-6 miles due to overall soreness/stiffness.

Weather is starting to cool down here, which means I'll be getting back into the gym to build up some muscle.

Anyone use a Fitbit or a Jawbone? I'm not sure what to get and maybe we could make an OS group to compete.

I'm looking for some advice. I've had a pulled abdominal muscle for almost 2 months. I went to the doctor right away to make sure it wasn't a hernia and they gave me an anti inflammatory. Been done with that for a couple weeks and things seemed to be improving but I woke up this morning with more pain. Anyone have advice? Doc told me rest but that's easier said than done.

Just follow what your doctor says, it's impossible for us to know what's wrong with you.

But as a general guideline you want to take it really, really slow with core injuries (Abdominals, lower back) they are notoriously slow to heal; and easy to aggravate. Stay away from load bearing activities, and don't work out until you get the clearance from your Docs.

Went from 248 to 221 for my wedding. Currently at 229 and working to get back down to where I was. It was very easy to put on the 10 pounds!

I just slipped up and didn't work as hard at it. No excuses.

Good job! And yes, it is very easy to have that weight sneak back on. You've already acknowledged it, so all you have to do now is put in the work. Simple fix.

Young children make it impossible to avoid load bearing activities. That's probably why it keeps acting up.
