I've been air frying hot dogs for about a year now. Love it.

Re: Things that took you way too long to realize....

I'm not a fan of the live strike zone for MLB broadcasts (especially since it makes every commentator an armchair umpire complaining about their zones) and I try to ignore them as much as possible so maybe that's why I only now realized this, but after watching the Jomboy video on Pat Holbrook's perfectly called game, I can confirm that pitches in the zone are closed (filled in) circles and pitches out of the zone are open circles.

I'm sure everybody has already known this, though. I guess that's a cool feature, but now it's another thing that I'd like to ignore seeing.

By the way, when I say "ignore" I mostly mean I don't use it as a barometer for what is a true ball and what is a strike. I've seen it be inaccurate/uncalibrated before (whether it is the box location or where the ball crosses the plate versus where it shows), and I give umpires leeway based on their consistency of that game. This is also true for certain heights. Obviously I know the reticle is there, and I mostly look at it because I have to since that's where the pitch is and for the MPH.

Things that took you way too long to realize....

I’ve been playing a lot of NES & SNES games over the last week or so. I’ve realized that new games are great but it feels like it has been decades since I had as much FUN gaming as I did back during my teenage years when these games were current.

Well, after some finetuning and figuring it out, my re-heating woes have been solved. I have gotten it down to 25 minutes from a cold oven at 275 degrees wrapped with foil over the top of it (EDIT: I forgot to mention on the bottom rack as well). Retains about 70% of its original taste, as opposed to like 25% of it haha.

By the way, for those wanting to suggest it, cold pizza is and never will be an option for me. I detest it.

Air fryer reheating works well too. Maintains some crispy crust

Does it cook the yolk too much, though? Is it something approaching a deep-fried egg, which I have never had but would definitely try if they exist?

I couldn't possibly agree with this more. It seems like a lot of games these days - particularly so-called "Triple-A games" - end up being more like a checklist of "to do" items, too focused on packing in hours of "content", rather than focusing just on what's "fun". Game design, in my opinion, was much better in that NES/SNES era, because it wasn't just about making an open-world sandbox, and then coming up with a bunch of fetch quests to give people something to do in that sandbox. Of course there are really fun modern games, but I do think it's striking to note how stripped-down and fun many of those earlier era games were. In my opinion, the most incredible distillation of this 'fun at all costs' ethos is late 1980's/early 1990's arcade games. Still the best video games ever made in my (probably weird) opinion.

Games have never looked better, and simultaneously never felt like more of a chore (in some ways) than they do now.

Well stated. I’m even playing acclaimed games that I never played back then because I was confused on sports games. I’m ‘Harvest Moon’ and ‘Chrono Trigger’.

Random: we came up playing with a D-pad but now that feels sooooooo awkward [emoji23]

hmm, Idunno about yolk, I'm a scrambler, I like to mix in some "just crack an egg" ingredients, preheat an unstick treated bowl, let that sucker go on 350 for about 10 and add cheese when its "flip" time, poofs up great

Dead Island 2 is very old school in its approach. It's refreshing if you're tired of the Ubisoft game design. Small levels, very little filler content, pretty short if you just run straight through. It's a very well crafted game too.

Stephen King's Salems Lot doesn't get its name from Salem, Mass., which is what I always thought. Instead Salem is 'Salem, short for JERUsalem, 'Salem's Lot.

That I switched to coach mode NOT because of hyper realism but because I suck at passing and I hurt my team because of it. I’m too decent at pro and really stink it up at anything higher without being hyper focused in a not fun way. Oh, and I HATE sliders. Whew, glad to get that out in 2023. [emoji23]
