    Still running Madcow 5x5.

    Maxes
Squat 327 x 3 reps (need to hit 5 to move up)
    Bench 215 x 5 reps
    Row 182 x 5 reps
    Overhead press 137 x 5 reps
    Deadlift 357 x 5 reps

Really happy with my progress since starting strong lifts 5x5 a year ago with a starting squat weight of around 115 lbs. Next personal goal is 1000 pound club less than 100 lbs away with my 1 rep maxes.

Those squat and deadlift numbers are impressive.

I've been serious about trying to get in shape for about 3 months now. Started off just with gym work and didn't see the difference in my body like I wanted. I have always said I don't care about the #(as far as my weight) but around the end of June I started working my diet over. Down 6lbs since then. But still lifting consistently to get gainz lol. I'm 248 right now, shooting for 225.

Just went down to 1800 calories a day and use MyFitnessPal to track and record everything. Lots more fruits but mostly just portion control is working for me. I want seconds and thirds most days but I stay at it.

Main goal is to build some serious running stamina. To that effect I will try to jog 3-4 times a week (3 one week, 4 the next, back to 3 the next, etc).
Been a very long time coming but I'm pumped about the new routine.

—Early morning workout (6 am, outside, no one around)
—Late afternoon workout (~6 pm, inside)

Going pretty well. Nothing out of the ordinary but with the year about to get busy it'll be all I can do to maintain it.

                    Re: 2016 FITNESS CHALLENGE

I had to come to stark realization that I had to make better choices when it came to my diet, as a trip to the doctor (nothing serious, just establishing a new primary care in AZ) revealed what I'd long suspected; I've put on too much weight.

Going over the 200-pound mark was tough for me to see, but it definitely has motivated me and since that appointment, I've lost 6 pounds and am back under 200 at 198. It wasn't drastic changes to the diet, just things like cutting back on the amount of starches and sugars I was consuming. I've reduced dessert intake to 2 times a week.

Exercise-wise, I've been running a bit more as I'm looking at doing a 1/2 Marathon in January.

Anybody have thoughts on the Bowflex Max Trainer? I've gained some weight and a gym is real far away. Thinking about turning our 3rd BR into a Home gym...

With the weather starting to get cooler (supposedly) and evening sunlight waning (shakes fist at sun) its important to keep motivation up and continue with your routine.

Some days are harder than others, but I've noticed that the days I feel less motivated are the days I feel the best after my workouts.

In an effort to spice things up I finally started hitting on the boxing bag I bought a couple months ago. I made the mistake of hitting with only mitts and soon rectified that by buying hand wraps. Getting in the zone and circling the bag is great. Having my arms hurt and ache afterwards is bitter sweet.

I've also increased my weights on some weight exercises, but I need to buy a couple more sets of 10s and 5s that I keep putting off because of "Christmas shopping." I've seen improvement in my arms and shoulders. Some slight toning in my stomach, but as long as its "flat" I'm a happy camper. Not any major bulking up, but building on the toning that Insanity started. Its nice to fill out the sleeves of my shirts.

How is everyone else doing so far?

Good point, FT, I heard we lose 3 minutes a day of sunlight in September, which comes to about 1.5 hours.

I've been delaying going to the gym and that isn't helping matters.

So, I started to spruce things up on the exercise front at the gym. I'm spending some time on the stairmaster. A few days ago, I spent five minutes and yesterday, I upped it to 10 minutes. I start on the treadmill for 20 minutes and then head over to the stairmaster. The sweat is just dripping off me by the time I start hammering away on the stairmaster. Stairmasters have changed since the last time I was on one. The stairs were metal back in the day and now they are rubber. They are a bit more difficult to clean because even when the machine is off, the stairs will move ever so slowly.

I'm going to try for 10 minutes today.

If you want to get in great shape go do mma training. There's classes everywhere that train you in all aspects of mma and staying fit. It's all I do. Any street fight and I'm all rdy to throw down and defend myself properly. It has already kicked in a few months back at a sports food/bar. lol

I live in Nor Cal and there's tons of mma gyms run by UFC and former UFC fighters that give classes. AKA in San Jose has a great program or Gilbert Meldandez gym in San Francisco. Also there's a mma gym in San Mateo right next to the movie theater in downtown San Mateo.
