Got to say going to the gym has become a hobby for me and I enjoy it . It's two things I make time for almost everyday. And that's working out and my ps4 lol .

I started Strong Lifts 5x5 last July. My big goal was a 300 lbs squat. Recently I switch to 3x5 and today I passed at 295 lbs. Tuesday I get to go for 300 lbs! I'm not sure if I'll get all 3x5 but excited to hit a big goal weight.

I'm into my third week now (started April 17th) and making good progress so far. Started at 261.2 lbs, 46 inch waist and 33% body fat. As of this morning:

        252.2 lbs
        43 1/4" waist
        30.6% body fat

Body fat measurement is from my scale so not 100% accurate but it does measure consistently so it's a good tool to use. Feeling really good so far! Only 1 lb to go for the 10 lb milestone and then only (at least) 30 lbs to go after that!

Restarting P90X2 after completing it, then holding steady in the last phase. Was on vacation for a week, then recovering so I missed a lot of days. Have a trip to Florida in 3 weeks. Doing P90X2 at lunch time, and my girlfriend is doing PIYO so I am doing that at nights with her.

Hit PR's on squat and deadlift yesterday.

            - 300 lbs squat. Was going for 3x5 but only got 3x3
            - 315 deadlift 1x5

              Re: 2016 FITNESS CHALLENGE

I've definitely struggled with consistency since moving a little over a month ago. I'm going to have to sign up for a gym membership, because I'm working 7:30-4 and with the hot temperatures coming this way soon, exercising outdoors will be tough to do.

It may not be a bad thing, as I could stand to add back some muscle mass. I've really only down kettlebell and bodyweight exercises infrequently for the last year as I focused more on running and cycling.

I'm down about 20 pounds from this time last year.

I also ran my fastest 1.5 run since 2009. I got a 10:16 in today. I'm feeling pretty good about myself with all the progress I have made.

Can anyone recommend an app to keep my workouts logged? I have been using a notebook, but I want an app or spreadsheet as well.

Also any other apps as good as MyFitnessPal? I just don't like the look of it.

How does one go about this and is it even possible? - I am trying to lose some fat/weight. About 15 pounds on the scale. Its all in my mid-section, but I am lifting weights about 4 times a week. I don't get much cardio because I can't run/jog because of my knee injury. I could do a treadmill or bicycle machine though. How do I lose this weight but also gain muscle? Does one need to eat differently to achieve one or the other goals?

Went and signed up for a gym membership today; I drive by the place everyday on my way to and from work, so really no excuse to not go there. They have other locations in AZ, too, including one near my office in case I want to get a lunchtime workout in.

Going to start off with a total body workout 3 times a week, with one-two stretching/conditioning workouts.

                              In my experience, its difficult. You're probably better off focusing on one or the other. I've posted a link to this site in other threads, but its worth another post and a read;

Thanks. I broke my tibia plateau on both sides of my left knee back in August. Got a rod, two plates, and 9 screws. Leg is getting stronger though, starting to see some definition come back after 12 weeks of no weight bearing and multiple weeks of partial weight bearing when the injury happened. Doctor said it could be two years before both sides look the same because of so much atrophy. Running is just really awkward still and I've never been a runner except for sports.

If I can only do one, I think I'd rather focus on gaining muscle. My stomach isn't that big, just bigger than I would like. I've lost 15 and put on some muscle as well. Definitely can tell with my clothes and looking in the mirror.
