I've never had these nightmare flying experiences y'all are talking about. That being said, I don't fly particularly often, and I've only ever flown Southwest.

I'm guessing the boarding is different, because I've never run into the split up seating issues.

Best flight experience I've had is getting drunk off of nips of Jack while watching the Ravens-Patriots divisional game a couple years ago on my way to Vegas.

It was ****ty having to watch the game on the flight, but it was out of Baltimore so there were other Ravens fans, plus I came prepared.

Once, flying from Pittsburgh to Memphis on an early morning flight I got stuck next to this huge woman. Only 2 seats to a side so I just hung out in the aisle when I could. Only time it's ever happened. The flight back home made up for it because there were maybe a dozen of us on the plane, if that, and I flirted with the flight attendant half the time.

I know my fears are irrational, but I can't help it.

Any tips to relax on a flight? It's only a little over a 2 hour flight.

I'm a nice boyfriend, so I end up with the middle seat anytime I fly with my girlfriend. We'll always pay for exit row seats if it's an option. I like Southwest, but hate their stupid non-assigned seat system. We got stuck in that mess where they had to cancel thousands of flights back in the summer. Ended up with 50% off next trip coupons which actually made it worth the trouble.

I have a peanut allergy, and if I call well in advance (24+ hours beforehand) they can make sure peanuts aren't on the flight that I'm on, and sometimes even the flights before. Whether or not, I also get a pre-boarding pass so I can wipe down my area if there is any peanut contaminant around (including peanut dust, mind you).

I'm not suggesting you try this system (especially if you want your peanuts), but I can also state that they've never asked for proof of allergy. They have to take my word for it, because they can't afford an anaphylactic attack 30,000 feet in the air.

That being said, I was once sitting in the way back of a flight after providing them my allergy info, and they started serving peanuts! Thank goodness I was awake and alert at the time to stop them passing them out then and there, because who knows what could have happened. I called Southwest and complained, but I mean I could have made this a very serious lawsuit if I wanted to. My life was literally at risk there.

Anyway, I feel pretty bad if they make a "no peanut" announcement before flying and I start to hear the grumble of other passengers. I have no control in the allergy that I have, but it is still severe enough to affect others. One time though we heard a family right behind us say, "Oh, who cares? Get the PBJ sandwich from the bag, honey." My dad confronted them about it then and there. Good riddance, selfish jerks.

Just a few months ago, my older sister finally revealed that she's had more PB meals than ever since marrying and moving out and that I ruined her childhood from not being able to have any peanuts in the house. She didn't say it angrily or whatever, she was kind of joking about it... but now I sit and think that I was a burden to her in the early years lol.

I'd rather skip the peanuts and not have a dude die. That's just me. People really don't understand that kind of stuff -- and this coming from a person who has no ailments like that. No allergies, perfect vision, don't get sick too often... stuff like that. I'm pretty lucky, but I realize it.

See PVarck? nothing to worry about, most complaints are about the flight issues and other passengers, no one yet has complained about dying on a flight

Peanut allergy can be that serious that you can't even be around it? My cousin and niece have peanut allergies but it was never that extreme where we couldn't eat peanuts around them and we just made sure to never have in the food we made.

Pretty sure I was just walking behind Pitt's Homecoming King for a while on my way back from Subway. Or at least it was some guy dressed up as a king and with a bookbag over 1 shoulder. His outfit actually kinda looked like the Burger King King mascot.
