Re: The Lego Thread
Here's a few of my favorite pics of my Christmas Village, there's a link below to the flickr album I put them in if you would like to see more.
I used the major Lego Winter sets like the Post Office, train, bakery, toy shop, cottage, and market, but then also added some City sets like the train station and corner deli and just winterized them by putting wreaths, snow, and Christmas lights on them. The biggest thing I added was obviously the ski slope with train tunnel underneath. That took the longest to build and I can't say how many times it came crashing down while I was learning how to make it sturdy.
After the ski slope was finished I was really able to start putting finishing touches on the display that I think really helps. I added the sidewalk all the way around the village because I really wanted to fill it up with pedestrians. I also added little things like lamp posts, traffic lights, benches, fire hydrants, and trash cans. The City sets really helped fill the village out. There is a Fun in the Park City set that had like 18 minifigures in it that was an awesome buy to add more people to the streets.
I'm done with it for this year, but my main goal next year is to add some kind of ski lodge and ski lift.

Re: The Lego Thread
Picked up the new Lego Batman Movie Joker Notorious Lowrider set on Amazon earlier. Was on sale for $44 and I had $28 in Amazon credit. 400 piece set for under $20. Can't beat that.
Put together the birthday celebration set earlier too. Fun little build. Will post a pic later. Will be a nice decoration to bring out on birthdays. Has number pieces you can build too which is cool. I have the next birthday next month so I have 32 on it now.
