Pretty sure I could pull 400 right now on a good day. Plus I deadlift after my volume squat workout so I'm already wrecked. Deadlift sucks after a 5x5 at 300 plus pounds for me.
You deadlift and squat on the same day? Yikes, that's too rough for me! I deadlift on back day, had leg day yesterday.

Yeah, I'm running Texas Method so I squat 3x a week. Been squating 3x a week for over a year and a half now. Deadlifts are just once a week but only 1x5 heavy set plus warm ups.

Are you doing the Strong Lifts 5x5? If so I did that routine for about 6 months 3 or so years ago and was never stronger in my life. Loved it.

As of now I honestly feel like I'm the most out of shape I've ever been. Got a few extra pounds on me but nothing crazy and I eat pretty well but I can just feel it ya know? It's weird. Motivation is the killer for me right now. Working full time (stressful **** at that), 4 kids aged 4 to 11, and a wife leaves little free time.

It's kinda stupid because I always feel so much better when I'm on a consistent routine but damn if I can get my *** up and do something right now lol.

          Re: 2017 Fitness Challenge

I was actually doing really well to start the year. I was on a 7 week stretch of clean eating with a cheat day every 10 days.

Then I discovered not one, but two taco shops because of my new job (working in an area I had never really explored before), that really provide pretty close to SoCal quality mexican food, and it was a wrap. I know it's another example of failure to control myself/lack of willpower, but I had been craving this food or years and I just have been in heaven the last couple weeks. I gotta get back on track though.

I think I can get the diet going again and finish the school-year strong, and then by the time summer vacation starts be feeling good enough to start slowly working my way back into a gym routine.

I'm still on my push-up rampage, but I have since been trying to sacrifice quantity for quality of push-ups. Too many websites are suggesting "rest days" for me, but to be honest I think with all of this I am losing a lot of strength in my push-ups.

Uncertain how to approach this. I think I was having significantly better results at the beginning of the year than I am now.

                  I'm following this program:

The Hundred Pushups Training Program is a six week training program designed to improve strength and physical fitness.

I've reset countless times, either due to back injury or redoing the art of how I should be doing my push-ups, etc. So I'm on Week 3 right now.

I have not. Are you recommending it, or speaking of its scamtastic ways?

For the record, I am more than capable of devoting seven days a week to working out. This "100 push-ups" site was just saying that your body needs recovery time. I'm not saying it doesn't, but I never felt that it actually needed it previously. I never got fatigued, even without monster amounts of protein.

Gave up trying to get heavy sets of 5 on deadlift recently to progress on the lift. Hit a baby milestone of 392.5 which is significant because it is all the weight I have in my home gym including the use of ankle weights. Time to go find a new set of 45s.

Well it was a kickstarter, haven't used mine yet though.

                            Re: 2017 Fitness Challenge

I'm ready for Spring and ready for tax season to be done.

The past week has been terrible. I've worked out once in the past week. No excuses really - I just haven't had the motivation, too.

I will say that before this I've been doing a lot better than I typically did. Often times during these Insanity workouts I'll rest and then rewind the DVD to do the full set. Moving into the extended month 2 exercises I've been doing them straight through. I keep rests as minimal as possible, but going straight through actually does a better job of keeping me in the workout and prevents from resting too much and making resting a habit.

I've also been doing the Hasfit 30 day ab routine workouts after my Insanity exercises. My stomach is flat with some noticeable toning. Still got a long ways to go before I get rid of lower stomach flubber, but this is the best my torso has ever looked.

Now, I just need to get back on the train ASAP before I lose all my progress and hardwork from the past two months.
