    Re: Christmas 2017

Retail stores during Christmastime will suck on both ends. Customers having to deal with part-time minimum wage employees during a busy time of year. And part-time minimum wage employees having to deal with lots of customer during the busy time.

I bought some stuff and just trying to pick it up from the store was horrible. Seemed like they were understaffed and the ones there couldn't do things fast enough. This wasn't even a peak point of the day, can't imagine how they hold up during busy parts of day/week.

I haven't really made any kind of plans for Christmas yet, but gotta put up lights/tree within next 2 weeks. At least I got shopping out of the way. Online especially helps out because you beat the rush period and don't have to deal with Christmas parking lots, one of the most chaotic places to drive.

Nice. I need new wedges as well. What are you looking at? Taylor Made is coming out with new wedges this spring and I heard that they are incredible. All black milled. I need them and the new 790 irons. Sweetness.

I prefer retail over the restaurant business. So much less stressful.

I think we’re putting up our tree this weekend. We’ve been slowly putting on the Christmas music here and there.

This one will be a lot of fun. It’s my son’s second Christmas but first as a walking, jabbering baby toddler mobile madman. He is getting SPOILED this year and it’s going to be torture not giving him all this stuff early.

I’m most excited to give him a knee hockey net/stick/pucks set. We’ve got a great surface and area to play that. I have amazing memories of my brothers and I using our hallway bedroom doors as goals, taping together 5 pogs for a puck and playing with our mini sticks we had gotten as souvenirs from a trip to Canada.

Having a young child during the holidays is like you’re back in your childhood when the Christmas magic was a bit more real then it is as an adult. Indescribable feeling of joy.

We have 3 fake trees. If you put them up this early, they kind of need to be artificial. Real trees when they dry out are absolute fire hazard.

One year we will have a real tree, I love the smell, however I will be on top of the water level.

                    Real Tree Tip:

Make a solution of water and Aunt Jamimah’s syrup and it will help slow the tree from dying and drying out. Highly recommend by real tree lovers.

                      Re: Christmas 2017

Thinking about Christmas after tomorrow. Put up our tree Friday and various other. Got an 8 switch relay and tinkering with Raspberry Pi to create a small light show. See how that goes, guessing, not well.

But in reality, this is the first Christmas without my mother, she passed in January last year just after Christmas but was able to be home for it, dad passed in 2012. I've decorated their tree since I was about 10 (39 now). My brother took over the family house about 3 weeks ago and had big shoes to fill with the tree this year.

Wanted to post the last tree I did for mom. Per usual, there was a dozen or so beers during the decorating, that tilt was fixed the next morning, it was the beer. Mom didn't drink, but her 4 nutty sons did at times.

Mom was unfortunately back in the hospital about 3 days after Christmas. This was a solid last tree.

(Someday I'll tell you about the tree that almost went to the street but I got it stuck in the doorway during the drag out of the house loss of mind.....someday I'll tell that, not my best moment)

Hells yeah. That’s the best version of a Christmas tree I had growing up too. Tinsel like crazy... I think that’s an age thing (my dad and my wife’s parents). Lol

My grandmother used to put tinsel on her tree when I was younger. Literally one strand at a time. She would take it off the tree one strand at a time. Haha.

Do or do not. There is no try.

Given the circumstances, I'm just not feeling extremely festive this season.
