My best friend's fiancee is trying to get me to date her younger sister. Now normally, I would completely dismiss this because she doesn't meet the criteria of the age rule (half your age + 7). I'm 37...she's 23.

But then, I feel like I will disappoint my buddy's woman (who has become a good friend in her own right) if I just dismiss her like that. So I feel obligated to at least get to know her lol.

I was legit wondering if there was a good formula for this. Thanks!

For your situation, I say you do you. If you can support each other down the line and she's good with the gap, let it be if you end up liking her.

first and foremost, completely disregarding any age info, I wouldnt date anyone, for feeling like if I didnt, I might hurt a third individuals feelings for not dating. on the other foot, I do see where you're coming from because I would NOT date someone because of fear of hurting a third partys feelings if I did go on said date.

the age issue, I dont have an opinion one way or the other... unless that is, its my granddaughters we're talking about lol

I'd say go for it. Worst case you go into it knowing it's not gonna be serious and she catches feelings and it all goes bad ... OK I guess that's a pretty bad worst case lol.

I'm about that age and I've no interest in seriously dating that young. I did a 32/20 once, which I guess fits that age rule, but it was nothing. If you're actually going to try to connect with someone it makes it tricky when the years are that different. But let's be honest women don't care.

I always find it weird that a person will try to set up their sibling with someone close to their respective partner.

I've never been in a serious relationship with someone and thought, hey we should set your friend up with my brother.

I just think you're asking for serious awkwardness whether it goes well or it doesn't.

dont wanna generalise too much but its always been my expereience its a woman trying to do the matchmaking.
I'd never even consider trying to play Cupid. I'm afraid my arrows would put an eye out, rather than hit a heart lol

Oh that's definitely a female thing lol. I think women are always into the idea that everything happens for a reason. Whether they be little or big things, they need a reason for it lol. And they love the idea that they're the reason a couple gets together, etc. And yeah, that's a lot of generalizing, but oh well.

I've never cared about age differences in other people, like if it's legal and nobody's getting scammed, who am I to judge? Let them do their thing

For myself though? I do kinda like being with someone that grew up with similar experiences, similar music, can relate to real life events that happened while we were similar ages, but that's just me

*edit, this led me to a search that revealed Pogo Balls are still a thing

If you know a specific keyword, you can search with that keyword.

If you know there was a post in a bigger thread, you can show posts only in threads that have like 100+ posts, etc.

Otherwise, yeah I think you run out of search room if you're just looking at all of them.

It's how my father found out he was allergic to nitroglycerin. They had to bring the crash cart out to get him back.
