Not just that, but the virus doesn't live on surfaces as long as they initially believed. The more viable danger is airborne.

    Additionally, use hand sanitizer.

Yeah, all of that stuff is so old news. The aerosol nature of the virus is what scientists are keying in on. It’s about reducing the amount of virus hanging in the air.

I put my cc into card reader, I took the card out.

I picked up the gas pump handle, took the gas pump and started filling gas into the tank, put gas pump handle back.

I opened the car door and applied hand sanitizer and then started the car.

Also, we went to church this morning and we didn't realize it there was a 1st communion celebration. 150 people in the church and 90% wore mask.

The 8 1st communion recipients all wore mask and didn't whine or complain for 90 minutes.

The model referenced has 340k new infections a day in America. I'd say that seems like an over estimate, but with so many states near or above the 1,000 daily reported cases mark, even states with less dense populations, I could definitely see it.

Masks and washing your hands or using hand sanitizer. I mean, even without the pandemic, having touched all those things after others have, I would've used hand sanitizer when I was done because I don't want to get a cold, flu, or any other type of sickness that others may have left behind.

And my 5 year old wears a mask without issue. If you practice, set example (wear one), and educate, then it really isn't that difficult to get young children to wear a mask.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

The main goal of the mask each person is wearing is to protect others by preventing viral particles from being exhaled towards others. In other words, the mask is meant to reduce the virus spreading by carriers, not to keep the person wearing it from getting the virus.

And since no one is really sure if they have it or not (for all the reasons you listed above) the safest way to limit spreading is for everyone to wear a mask.

At this point, there's no sense in trying to explain masks to anti-maskers

They are literally ignoring EVERYBODY; disease experts, health professionals, foreign leadership, facebook memes, YouTube videos, and even Republican leadership

They are simply trolls now and being willfully ignorant. There is no getting through to them. They don't want to be got through lol

Thanks for jumping the gun and calling me ignorant without due discussion. No one is saying don't help protect people, especially the potentially easily infirmed. And of course those who are easily infirmed and capable and ambulatory, need to take the proper steps to protect themselves. I'm not "anti-mask". This is not black and white. And I love how you guys throw around the "troll" word around here when someone challenges the groupthink, but that's been a common theme here (like our "discussion" on people of different races playing a superhero character from how they were portrayed in the original story).

What I'm saying is that you are expecting everyone everywhere to follow these mandates and guidelines to a tee. Not only is it not going to happen flawlessly, it already has not happened. Have you looked at these riots for example? Was there 100% compliance with wearing masks during these? So if this only slows the spread and doesn't stop it, then what are we doing in the long run? Some will say we are holding on until a vaccine is discovered. But despite current wants and claims, this could potentially take years. Potentially.

This has turned into a socio-political debate as well. There's no denying that. And that is a shame, because once factions get involved at whatever intensity or level, then this affects the science. And if it affects the science, then it affects the research. And if affects the research, then it affects the potential treatments. So whatever the numbers truly are, there's no debating that we are going to need cures and not just the present prophylactics and symptom reducers. But if true science and medicine are tainted, then we have a larger problem.

                      lol

So the Bahamas banned tourists from the US and told all Americans currently there they have until Wednesday to leave. Non-Americans can enter and stay lol.

Let’s you know everything about how we’ve handled this pandemic when a country that is so dependent upon American tourist $ closed their doors.

                          1) That's part of living in a society - trusting your neighbor to do the right and moral thing for not just the betterment of themselves, but the betterment of society as whole. Clearly a lot of people have forgot that fact and were allowed to wallow in isolation and feel disconnected.

                          2) "True science" has been tainted long before this.

Well, that's all very virtuous and idealistic. But that's not reality and practical. Irresponsibility has been around from the start.

Your comment came off as snarky and something that an "anti-masker" would make. And the subsequent responses by others to your post reinforced that thought.

As long as you believe that masks work how they are intended and mask wearing is the best tool we have to prevent spread in public settings, we're good brotha. Lol

Right - so what you're describing is nothing new. I don't see how it changes our approach to this pandemic. Stronger and consistent messaging from all levels of government would certainly be helpful.
