Re: Everything Else Forum Removed
A lot of high post count users have responded to this thread, and the decision was only just recently made. But if your point was that OS would still be a successful place if it turned into a mostly read-only ghost town where people came to read the OS frontpage content for reviews and sliders and then left, then I agree with you. I just thought this place was something different.Originally posted by aholbert32Most people? This is a forum of 30,000 people. Maybe 50 posters have written that they are unhappy with the decision. That doesnt seem like most people to me.Helen: Everyone's special, Dash.

Re: Everything Else Forum Removed
Hopefully this will make more people join the OS Debate Club, so we can continue to have these debates about politics and current events.
I mostly post in the non-sports gaming and EE forum. In the EE forum I mostly posted about movies and music, with the occassional "funny thread" here and there. Plus the Neighborhood is still in tact, so the community is still very much alive here.

Re: Everything Else Forum Removed
I thought you guys added all of these newer moderators a few months ago to keep control of the EE forum, along with some of the other questionable forums (Madden, Pro Basketball, etc.)
I'm a moderator over at 2ksports.com, and although many of the posters over there aren't as mature or knowledgable as the guys over here (actually, they're not even close), the forums where side comments, opinions, and jokes can be shared do keep the community pretty close. When NBA 2k6 started coming out, an influx of really immature and annoying posters came in. Our moderating staff was upgraded (just like OS was) and after a few weeks of bans, warnings, and moderation, it was back to normal. We had a bit of work to do, and we did lock down troublesome areas of the website, but it never got too out of hand.
I see the removal of Everything Else hurting the forums. It will not be addition by subtraction. I know you're dealing with a lot of threads daily, but you seem staffed well enough to handle it.
Of course, the website will not collapse if EE is replaced. You will not lose thousands of members. You will still be respected as one of the top sports gaming sites in the WORLD. But there will always be a little something missing.
I'll keep coming here regardless. I'm noticing some people getting mad at y'alls decision just because getting mad is like the popular thing to do right now. I'm not mad, I just think it would be an unwise thing to do... unless it really is THAT out of hand right now. I think the price of moderating the EE section is worth the reward the hundreds (if not thousands) of people get out of it daily.

Or, since it's so easy, and you don't like how they are run here, start your own forums, and mod them any way you please.Originally posted by SucreI used to moderate at WZforums about 2 and a half years ago. That forum had at least over 100,000 posters. I modded chit chat(their EE) and i must say it wasnt all that hard to do. We had groups of 3 for all forums, which made it easy. If it's too hard for you guys to moderate one forum(EE) then quit your jobs, there are other people who would probably do it for you.Comment

Re: Everything Else Forum Removed
Point taken. Truthfully, this isn't a power struggle, and nobody said that the removal of the EE forum was permanent. It's a move we thought was necessary at the time, and we're prepared to handle the backlash.Originally posted by SkerikWhy has this become some big power struggle to the people who run this site? Obviously, we're all aware that you can run the site however you choose. My point was that people have the right to complain and not be taken to task for it, that's all.Comment

Re: Everything Else Forum Removed
I think Brankles post does a great and respectable job (minus the ya'lls) explaining my feelings on this subject.
Did the Every Good Thread Gets Banned thread have any impact on this? Or was it something that has been discussed for a while?Comment

And what power exactly are these power hungry admins after?Originally posted by skydog71This is a ridiculous move. I enjoyed the threads about favorite albums, dating advice, and world events. Somebody is on a power trip here... 99% of all threads on the Everything Else forum were innocent and entertaining.Comment

I said modding my individual forum was easy, not the enite place. I found that with 3 other people helping, that modding one forum was easy. However taking care of an entire forum is not as easy.Originally posted by bkrich83Actually saying it's easy is exactly what you said.Comment
