Re: *The FIFA 15 Manager Mode Thread*

Would like some advice for manager mode,

I'm having a tough time figuring out a way to work my way up to eventually taking a PL job or just any one of the power European leagues. I like to make it as realistic as possible starting with a back story that I'm a young American coach and try to start at jobs like Cambridge United but cannot figure out how to progress in jobs or which teams to start at with that story. I use the approach similar to NCAA football where you start as an OC and then land higher jobs depending on your success. Any ideas or advice would be great

Re: *The FIFA 15 Manager Mode Thread*

See post #584 for previous games of this season.

      Newcastle United PL 2014/15 Season.

      15. (H) 0-0 draw v Chelsea

Jose Mourinho brought his Chelsea side to SJP looking for his first win at this ground in both his stints as Chelsea manager. Chelsea threw everything at us in a game which we knew we'd have to be cagey in. Survived a very late scare when Hazard belted a free kick against the post, Coloccini killing any potential for a rebound and earning us a vital point in our quest for a top 6 finish.

      16. (A) 2-1 win v Arsenal (Aarons 49', Cabella 76') (Welbeck 74')

Buoyed by a great team performance against Chelsea, we travelled to North London in high spirits. Aarons rose highest to bang in a header from a Sissoko corner. Danny Welbeck restored parity with a mazy run finishing with a low, rolling finish around Krul. We responded to that setback instantly, restoring our lead with a fine solo goal from Cabella, beating 3 men before lashing in from 18 yards. A great win against tough opposition. Great boost going into the Tyne-Wear derby!

      17. (H) 0-0 draw v Sunderland (Janmaat s/o) (Mannone s/o)

A fiery battle between the two North East teams in the PL. Both teams reduced to 10 men before half time, Janmaat seeing red after 7 minutes for a horrid tackle on Johnson who looked set to score before the Dutchman intervened. Sunderland keeper Mannone was sent off after bringing down the returning Papiss Cisse in the box. Cisse unfortunately missed from the spot kick, blasting his effort just wide of the goal. We thought we'd won it in injury time after Gouffran crossed low for Cisse to tap in. Fans and players started celebrating until they spotted that the linesman had flagged Cisse offside. Deflated, but still unbeaten in 6 PL games.

      18. (A) 1-0 win v Man United (Aarons 7')

We did exactly as I planned in this game, surprising MUFC by going straight at them, rewarded with a rather fortunate goal, Tiote blasting from 30 yards, the shot going wide, but diverted in from Aarons' back, so he is credited with the goal. MUFC never seemed to get close to scoring. Falcao coming closest with a speculative effort narrowly whistling past the post.

      19. (H) 0-0 draw v Everton

Both teams looked sluggish after a slew of fixtures in a busy December. Best chance of the game fell to us, Coloccini going close with a header from de Jong's inswinging corner.

      20. (H) 2-1 win v Burnley (Cabella 82', Riviere 85') (Kightly 78')

The first game of 2015 saw Burnley face us for the second time in 4 weeks. For a long time, Burnley had us reeling, peppering the goals with shots and not allowing us any clear cut chances at goal. The shock result was on when Kightly left Coloccini for dead and lashed home to put Burnley in the lead, which would have lifted them out of the bottom three. Burnley then parked the bus, which proved to be their undoing, allowing us to heap pressure on them. Cabella equalised with an outstanding strike, knuckling the ball into the top right corner from around 20 yards out. The turnaround was complete three minutes later as Gouffran forced his way through two defenders on the left wing, sliding in a low cross for Riviere to tap in, giving us a winning start to 2015.

Our next match is in the third round of the FA Cup away to Hartlepool, I'll be fielding a few youngsters for this game, giving my senior players a well earned rest after a very busy Christmas period.

The transfer window is also open now, where I'll be looking for cover in my DM positions and possibly a new, young RB with good potential as an understudy to Janmaat as Ryan Taylor will be retiring at the end of this season.

Any reasonable suggestions for incoming transfers are welcomed, I have a £21million budget with £115,000 in wages available to me.

      Current PL table:

Aston Villa and Swansea are 19th and 20th.

        Start of 2015-16 with Southampton.

Schneiderlin wanted out, even though I wasn't keen on seeing him go. I brought in Junior Malanda as a replacement and pocketed £1.5m in the process so wasn't all bad.

Malanda looks promising but hasn't made an impact in the first few matches - I have himself and Victor Wanyama beside each other in deep holding roles. Wanyama is a beast - but he's just perked up and said he wants out. No offers for him yet in the summer window, no money will see him go as he really is a key figure for me.

Won the first few friendlies and clenched the Community Shield against Man United. Struggled to create chances - we ended up beating them in penalties.

Thankfully the wage/budget trick worked so I have good cash to invest - I bought 2x 5/5* scouts and 1x 4/5*. I'm really keen to start doing what this club naturally does best, developing brilliant footballers.

Going to be an interesting season! Wish me luck!

Re: *The FIFA 15 Manager Mode Thread*

Taking a break from my Everton Career mode for a while and decided to finally take the plunge and do a full World Class career mode (normally I play professional for most games but for big games and games against big teams I bump it up to World Class). Was a tough choice with who to go with but I eventually went with Swansea.

In pre-season I brought in 2 players. The first I brought in was Schmeichel for 1.75 million plus Tremmel as I wanted a proper back up for Fabianski as I've had problems with inconsistent goalkeepers in my Everton career mode. The second was Sam Byram for 2 Million as a successor for my ageing RB's.

          I've set up my team in a 4-3-3 Formation;

          GK: Lukasz Fabianski
          RB: Sam Byram
          CB: Ashley Williams
          CB: Federico Fernandez
          LB: Neil Taylor
          RCM: Ki Sung-yueng
          LCM: Leon Britton
          CAM: Gylifi Sigurosson
          RW: Nathan Dyer
          ST: Wilfried Bony
          LW: Jefferson Montero

          1. (A) 1-1 draw vs Manchester United (Di Maria 28') (Dyer 54')

A very bright start to the season against a strong Man Utd side. We went 1-0 down in the first half and hour from a shot just outside the area from Di Maria. Despite this though Man Utd were average and didn't really threaten and we capitalised on this with some good attacking play. This culminated with Ki Sung-yueng dispossessing his man and sending a ball over the top which, despite being intended for Bony was seized by Dyer who ran through and surrounded by 3 Man Utd defenders, fly kicked the ball past De Gea to equalize. This really seemed to give us some confidence and we started to be a bit more adventurous but sadly we couldn't grab a winner despite looking the better side in the second half. Still a draw away from home against a strong side is still a good achievement.

          2. (H) 1-3 loss vs Burnley (Canas 20') (Vokes 15', Ings 18', Knightly 40')

Absolutely terrible game for us. I played a weaker team due to a midweek game against Chelsea and Burnley exploited this. They scored twice in quick succession early on with Vokes and Ings and the goals were identical a low cross from just inside the area to the player in the middle who slotted it in. We responded quickly with Dyer running down the right wing and crossing it in to Canas who headed it in at the near post. Our hopes were shattered however as Knightly scored yet another ground cross to the centre just before half time. Once again we improved in the first half and we kept the ball better but it wasn't until late on with the addition of Shelvey and Bony that we actually had some decent attempts on goal but Gilks stood tall and kept us out to send us to an early home defeat against the newly promoted side.

          3. (A) 3-0 loss vs Chelsea (Diego Costa 3' 28', Willian 77')

Our poor form continues as we lose to Chelsea away from home. I think the score flattered Chelsea a bit though as we had several good chances to score but Cech was in fine form saving a powerful header from bony and a powerful shot from close range again by bony and preventing a sure goal for Montero late on. They were dominant though with Costa being too much for us to handle scoring early on with a fantastic strike before doubling his tally in the 28th minute. He also set up the goal for willian to seal off the game.

          4. (H) 2-1 win vs West Brom (Shelvey 3', Bony 69') (Ideye 81')

We finally got the first win of the season with a comfortable win over West Brom. I decided to put Shelvey in as CAM ahead of Sigurosson and it payed off immediately as he weaved into the box and scored within 5 minutes. West Brom came close a few times after that but some good saves by Schmeichel (who started ahead of Fabianski) prevented them from equalising and keeping us ahead at half time. West Brom were guilty of sloppy passing and this lead to our second goal as Bony dispossessed Olsson and blasted it past Ben Foster. They did get a consolation goal late on from Brown Ideye but we hung on for the first 3 points of the season.

Don't know what it is with him, but he always seems to be a beast in CM every year.

Seems Swansea have trouble conceding early in games, I'd go in the market for top quality yet good value CB, Simon Kjaer of Lille is a belter, 80 rated but slips under the radar for many due to playing at a team I'd say is too small for him, possibly get him scouted ahead of the January window.

Solid start for a team of Swansea's caliber, looking forward to reading about future games.

Cheers, i'll look into him. I was looking for a CB but my budget isn't great so I was limited in what I could buy. I was planning to get someone on pre-contract but i'll take a look at Kjaer.

                5. (H) 5-1 win vs Southampton (Sigurosson 12' 51' 88', Montero 66', Bony 68,) (Rodriguez 15')

Much much better from the lads this time out as the West Brom win lifted our spirits. Sigurosson was off the mark early on as his initial shot was saved but it came right back to him and he slotted it in. Our lead didn't last long however as the quickly equalised with a Rodriguez header. The rest of the first half was quiet and it looked like a 1-1 draw was on the cards but in the 51st minute Sigurosson scored from another rebound shot, this time from dyer. Montero scored not long after when sigurosson slid it under the free kick wall and he weaved into the box and scored. Bony scored almost straight from kick off dispossessing his man and running through to score our 4th of the game. Sigurosson completed his hatrick late on to cap off a fine performance from the lads.

                6. (H COC) 1-2 loss vs Everton (Gomis pen 51') (Pienaar 4', Gibson 21')

Our first game in the Capital One Cup is also our last as we lose to Everton. They scored early on ( something which happens with worrying regularity against us) after a goal mouth scramble which Pienaar poked home. It could have gotten even worse as not long after Shelvey gave away a penalty but fortunately Mirallas hit the post. It didn't matter through as Gibson scored to put the visitors 2-0 up. The introduction of Siguosson in the second half seemed to lift the team and Everton gave away a penalty of there own which Gomis blasted past Howard to get us back in the game. Everton struggled to contain the lively Frenchman and Howard had to make a few saves to prevent us from levelling the game. In the end they managed to hold on for the win but I was happy with the performance especially as it was my second team out.

                7. (A) 2-1 loss vs Sunderland (Cattermole 7', Altidore 76') (Williams s/o 55', Gomis 63')

Disappointing one this one but probably a fair result. Another early goal put us on the back foot from early on and to make matters worse Bony was forced off with a sprained knee and he'll be out for 4 weeks. To make matters worse we had Williams sent off for a professional foul not long after the restart. We managed to equalise with Gomis in the 63rd minute but it was short lived as Altidore headed home the winner not long after. I felt as though we could have gotten a point but Sunderland did defend well and took there chances which won them the game.

                8. (H) 1-1 draw vs Newcastle Utd (Gomis 71') (Cabella 68')

Really frustrating game this one as it almost looked as though we were going to get the first CS of the season. The first hour or so was pretty boring, no team could really get anything going and apart from Cisse hitting the crossbar with a header there was no action. We started to get our footing and had a few shots saved but they hit us on the counter attack and Tiote slid the ball into Cabella who put it past Schmeichel. I wasn't having any of it though and we won a corner from kick off as dyer (who is turning out to be our best player this season) stormed up the pitch. The resulting cross into the box was met by Gomis who headed past Krul to bring us back level. Newcastle did have a few late chances but they were ether saved or went wide and we hung on to get the point. Should have been a 0-0 draw really but at least we didn't lose it.

Hey, I was offered the Arsenal job in my FIFA14 save after a mid-table finish with Genoa and forgettable World Cup with Mexico, so it's not totally unwarranted, right?

Well, it's December and all I have to show for it is a career save interminably stuck in the preseason. Ol' Vincenzo Di Stefano sure is doing a good job laying out those cones on the training pitch, let me tell you. That changes now... The patches are out, sliders are (mostly) settled, so no more excuses. Vincenzo will make the jump to the Premier League, but in a more believable manner as the new manager of Aston Villa.

With American owner Randy Lerner watching every penny as he looks to sell the club, manager Paul Lambert resigns on the eve of the new season after back-to-back 15th place finishes in the previous two seasons. No stranger to working with difficult owners from his time in Genoa, Vincenzo Di Stefano didn't hesitate to accept the position. The timing of Lambert's resignation and Lerner's notorious "austerity" leaves the Italian no chance to shape the squad prior to the end of August, but he feels there is quality in the side to build around. The hope for year one is to identify who fits his long term vision while developing young talent in the academy. Anything more is a tough ask until new ownership provides more financial support.

Well, technical director, direct some decent players my way because Aston Villa's squad is dreadful. The only way I can see going through with it is by leaving the first window open and using the financial takeover at the beginning to bring in a handful of quality players. Otherwise I don't think I can make it through the first season...

Carrying on from posts #584 and #587, Newcastle were on a high, starting off 2015 with a New Years' Day win over Burnley. Now we start our journey in the FA Cup, hoping to reach a first cup final since 1999 when Geordie hearts were broken as Manchester United triumphed over the Toon 2-0 at the old Wembley stadium.

                          (A FAC R3) 4-2 win v Hartlepool (Ameobi 20', Obertan 39', Perez 82', 90+1') (Woods 18', Miller 65')

We started our FA Cup campaign with a win at Victoria Park which at times was very tough. A worn down pitch helped the home side settle into a rhythm which saw them take a surprise lead, Woods getting to the ball first to head past the debuting Jak Alnwick in our goal. We soon equalised through a Sammy Ameobi goal, Aarons sending in a low cross to Sammy which he sneakily back-heeled into the net. We took the lead six minutes before the break, Obertan using his blistering pace to beat the Pool defence and slot home at the near post. The second half started poorly for us, losing Aarons and Obertan to injuries as Hartlepool decided to rough us up in the hope of un-nerving us. It worked, as Tommy Miller ran through Steven Taylor, rounded the keeper and equalised. Pool pushed forward looking to earn a famous win over us. Their hopes were ended though as Ayoze Perez was introduced in the 81st minute, netting with his first touch of the game, a curling effort from 18 yards. The result was sewn up for sure in injury time, Perez using his pace to counter as Pool had everyone go forward, running from halfway, tricking his way past the keeper and walking the ball into the net.

After the match, we were given a home tie v AFC Wimbledon in the 4th round. Also, our strike force was bolstered with the signing of Hull City's Abel Hernandez, costing us £5,000,000. He's not quite match fit for the next game but he should make an appearance during the away visit to Chelsea.

                          21. (H) 0-0 draw v Southampton

A tense affair with the Saints who were determined to bounce back after they had suffered a shock exit in the FA Cup to Huddersfield. They had us under the kosh all afternoon, we failed to register a shot on former Toon keeper Fraser Forster's goal but we held strong, Tim Krul producing a string of amazing saves to earn us a valuable, if undeserved, point.

                          22. (A) 1-0 win v Chelsea (Hernandez 58')

We headed to Stamford Bridge, knowing we'd be in for a tough game against the current leaders, and they rained shots on our goal in the first half, Eden Hazard being the crux of the Blues' sustained attacks. I decided to introduce our new signing, Abel Hernandez, into the game on 55 minutes, hoping the threat of his pace would force Chelsea to sit a little deeper to cover him. However, they continued their gung-ho approach and we punished them for it, Tiote nutmegging Matic as he sent the ball to Hernandez, who beat John Terry and Gary Cahill with ease, then firing past Thibaut Courtois, silencing the home crowd and whipping our travelling fans into a frenzy. We kept a high line yet played defensive, the back four doing a sterling job with their offside trap, seeing out the time and giving us a memorable win.

                          (H FAC R4) 2-0 win v AFC Wimbledon (Tiote 61', Ben Arfa (p) 88')

I gave the youth players a run out again as I have done in all cup games so far this season. Wimbledon gave them a stern test, trying to catch us on the counter attack constantly, not giving us any clear cut chances at goal. For the second half I decided to introduce Tiote, so he could bully the opposition a little and crack their defence. We soon got the breakthrough on 61 minutes, Tiote starting off a brilliant 1-2 pass with Perez which cut the defence up, allowing Tiote to guide the ball in from 5 yards, beating the keeper at the near post. Wimbledon finally showed some attacking intent after the goal, but were susceptible to counter attacks themselves, their keeper kept them in the game, saving one on one efforts from Perez, Gouffran and Ameobi. However, it was after bringing Hatem Ben Arfa on with 5 minutes to go which contributed to sealing the win, Ben Arfa tricking his way past the left back and darting to the box, caught by a sloppy challenge which had the referee instantly pointing to the spot, Ben Arfa dispatching the penalty with ease.

The 5th round draw gave us an away trip to fellow PL side Stoke City, who incidentally we play next at home in the league.

                          Next six fixtures:

Struggling against a League Two side in the Capital One Cup and two league matches as I continue to basically fight for my job with my astronomically high expectations of a top four finish with this squad. This season is going to be interesting if I can even get through it without being fired.

I won Serie A on the final day I finished joint top but won the league on results against juventus

anyway when the whistle went nothing happened it was just like a normal game and no mention by the commentary that I won the title no cutscene and no email or news saying I am champion?? but the table has me top after 38 games..so replayed the game both finished joint top still no cutscene

has anyone seen a cup presentation cutscene for winning serie a??
