Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

I'm in the second season(summer transfer window) with my Arsenal. I finished the first year as champs by around 14pts and FA Cup winners(playing on World Class, might bump it up now).. Lost out to Bayern in the UCL (again but in the quarters). Also, I try to make my transfers realistic at leasg for the first 2 years.

I brought in Benzema and Veltman in the summer that year..
-Benzema: 30 goals & 7 asts in PL
    -Veltman: solid young CB.

In January, I got Lars Bender (for Arteta and cash).. Solid, adds steel.

    Key players after first season:
    -Ozil, 13 asts BPL
    -Walcott, 12 asts BPL
    -Giroud, 14 goals BPL
    -Cazorla, 11 goals BPL
-Woj, 22 Clean Sheets (more credit to Kos and Per tho)

Currently in the summer transfer window...

I got Reus for around 33M(Cazorla and 22M)... They wanted 45M so a good price. (He did get linked) (Cazorla's goals were rebounds or from the few games I simmed)

-I also got Schmeichel(?) on a free to replace Fabianski (I love Fabianski and he was my FA Cup GK but I wanted to extend Sagna over him, wouldn't do both)

I put up for sale Giroud and Vermaelen. Oli mainly because I'm just not feeling him in the game... His goals mostly came against lower opposition or rebounds.. Not like Benzema (well... What do you expect) and Verminator cuz I want someone more solid.

Currently looking to find a CB, a backup ST, a CAM (Rozza wants to go even though I like him in game/real life and he's real old..// either get Diego or a young promising one to develop). Jenko's been doing great behind Sagna so might wait for 2nd January window to decide on my RB situation.

My shortlist(take note taking into play real life but wanted to put a few of my choices):

-Fabregas (I want him back but just keeping an eye on him, not really gonna go for him)

    DEF
    -Mangala
    -Varane(linked)
    -Aurier(linked)

    MID
-Draxler(linked but since I got Reus, not prioritizing, same goes for the Griezmann, Vela, etc.)
-Diego(linked before and my Rozza stituation)
    -Griezmann (linked)
    -Vela (linked)

    ATT (back-up to Benzema/Giroud replacement)
    -Remy(linked)
    -Morata

I got about 17M left so I may try and take Mangala, Remy, Morata(loan him out right after) then also get that Rozza replacement. Gonna be a tough thing to pull off so....

    Any inputs/insights/tips? Thanks!

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

      LIVERPOOL CAREER MODE

      League Cup Game 3

      Liverpool 0-1 Swansea
      De Guzman 8
I fielded a weak side but we did not deserve to lose. We dominated but Morata, Ings and McManaman couldn't finish their dinner. De Guzmans goal was a luck rebound as well.

      Match 14

      Liverpool 4-3 West Ham
      Borriello 4
      Noble 15
      Sterling 18
      Suarez 22
      Nolan 36
      Taylor (og) 53
      Rakitic 80
A thrilling contest in which West Ham went ahead when a long ball over the top found Borriello who slid it under the onrushing Mersin. They doubled the advantage when Downing picked out Noble at the far post who smashed it in from a tight angle. Sterling pulled one back though, when Gerrard played him through and he scored with his left foot. He then ran down the wing before whipping in a cross that Suarez expertly volleyed into the corner. Nolan regained West Hams lead through a piece of sloppy defending. The equaliser came about when Sterling skipped through the defence but his shot was saved but knocked in off the shin of Matt Taylor on the rebound. Rakitic won the game when he picked his spot from 30 yards and found the top corner.

      Match 15

      Liverpool 2-0 Norwich City
      Ings 17
      Zouma 90
Ings opened the scoring with a volley from a cross by Martin Kelly. A corner in the last minute was headed in perfectly by Zouma. Finally a win for my weakened side, yay.

      Match 16

      Spurs 0-2 Liverpool
      Suarez 11
      Suarez 81
Luke Shaw played a ball over the top that Sturridge ran full speed to get to and he whipped it in first time for Suarez to volley home. Suarez later jinked through the defence before sliding the ball into the bottom corner.

      Match 17

      Liverpool 2-0 Cardiff
      Agger 17
      Sterling 67
Agger won the header from a corner to take the lead. A shot by Suarez was saved but Sterling fired in the rebound.

      Match 18

      Manchester City 1-3 Liverpool
      Suarez 20
      Rakitic 23
      Sturridge 45
      Toure 53
Suarez broke through the defence in this big game to fire into the roof of the net with a powerful strike. A few minutes later, Sterling hit the post but it fell to Rakitic to fire into the empty net. On the stroke of half time, Sturridge cut inside and hit a shot with his right foot from 25 yards into the bottom corner. Toure got a goal back for City when he rose highest to head in a cross by Silva.

      Match 19
      Chelsea 1-1 Liverpool
      Gerrard 35
      Matic 82
Even in FIFA, Chelsea parked the bus, playing 10 men behind the ball all game and I was forced to shots from distance. Schwarzer played amazingly keeping out thunderbolts by Suarez, Rakitic and Sturridge. Eventually, Gerrards powerful strike went in from 25 yards, despite Schwarzer getting a hand to it. Late on, Chelsea got a counter attack in which Matic scored to give Chelsea and undeserved point.

        LIVERPOOL CAREER MODE

Warning: TRANSFER WINDOW meant I simmed a few games. Matches with no description were simmed.

        Transfers IN:
Elaquim Mangala: £12.6 million + Daniel Agger
        Marco Verratti: £14 million

        Transfers OUT:
        Phillipe Coutinho: £30.5 million

Sturridge refused to sign a contract with Dortmund that would have got me £32.5 million

        Match 20

        Liverpool 2-1 Hull
        Rakitic 27
        Sterling 45
        Jelavic 74

        Match 21

        Stoke 1-1 Liverpool
        Ireland 26
        Rakitic 60

Stoke were once again defensively stubborn. I tried to break them down but they eventually opened the scoring from an Ireland header. I hit back with a hard and low strike with Rakitic.

        FA Cup Match 1

        Liverpool 1-0 Crystal Palace
        Suarez 45

        Match 22

        Liverpool 3-1 Aston Villa
        Sterling 12
        Pratto 18
        Strurridge 45
        Sterling 66

        Match 23

        Fulham 0-0 Liverpool

        Match 24

        Liverpool 3-1 Everton
        Rakitic 6
        Suarez 44
        Pienaar 69
        Suarez 72

We attacked early on for Rakitic to fire in from just inside the box. Suarez then beat the whole defence to chip the keeper. Pienaar got a goal back for Everton on the rebound of a save but Suarez hit back instantly, slotting in to the corner.

          Gerrard 33 (p)
          Sturridge 87

Gerrard opened the scoring after Suarez was tripped in the penalty area. Sturridge smashed in late on from distance with the outside of his foot.

          Match 25

          West Brom 1-2 Liverpool
          Suarez 3
          Mulumbu 27
          Suarez 78

Suarez opened the scoring when a brilliant ball over the top from Rakitic was volleyed in. Mulumbu headed in after beating Sakho in the air. Suarez scored the winner when Verrattis shot was saved and it bounced off of Suarez into the net.

              Wolves: Reviving a Club

I have been promoted from the Sky Bet League 1 to the Sky Bet Championship with Wolves and are steps closer to getting back to the Premier League. To be fair, I was a little anxious and decided to simulate the beginning of the season until January. So here is all the matches from January to the end of the season.

              January Results
              Huddersfield 1 - 1 Wolves
              Wolves 1 - 0 Reading
              Wolves 0 - 0 Brighton (FA Cup)
              Wolves 3 - 0 Forest
              Leeds 0 - 3 Wolves
Brighton 1 - 2 Wolves (FA Cup Replay)
              Wolves 1 - 1 Middlesbrough
              Wolves 0 - 0 Tottenham (FA Cup)

              February Results
              Milwall 0 - 1 Wolves
Tottenham 4 - 1 Wolves (FA Cup Replay)
              Wolves 2 - 1 Doncaster
              Bolton 2 - 1 Wolves
              Wolves 2 - 0 Blackpool

              March Results
              Bristol City 0 - 0 Wolves
              Birmingham City 1 - 2 Wolves
              Ipswich Town 0 - 1 Wolves
              Wolves 3 - 0 Sheffield Wednesday

              April Results
              Leicester City 0 - 1 Wolves
              Wolves 2 - 1 Cardiff City
              Preston 0 - 0 Wolves
              Wolves 1 - 1 Brighton
              Derby 1 - 0 Wolves
              Wolves 1 - 2 Burnley
              Blackburn 2 - 2 Wolves

              May Results
              Wolves 1 - 2 Crystal Palace
              Wolves 3 - 0 Hull City (Playoff Semi-Final Leg 1)
              Hull City 2 - 1 Wolves (Playoff Semi-Final Leg 2 [4 -2 agg.])
              Wolves 2 - 1 Bolton (Promotion Final)

              Final Championship Table
              1. Reading - 91 points
              2. Leicester City - 88 points
              3. Burnley - 86 points
              4. Hull City - 84 points
              5. Wolverhampton - 82 points (Promotion Playoff Winner)
              6. Bolton - 79 points

Sky Sports caught up with the Playoff Promotion Final winner manager, Paul Ince and asked him a few questions. "What a great day! What a great day it is to be a Wolves supporter. I am still in shock that we fought all year and made it to the Playoff Final and to beat Bolton, who were a great side is just fantastic. Our club is back in the Premier League, which I believe is where Wolves should always be. We do know, however, that is will be a challenge to stay up with the other 19 sides in the league."

              Hockey - Chicago Blackhawks
              NFL - Chicago Bears
CFB - Notre Dame (Attended Western Michigan)

Re: How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

Simulated a season with Tottenham today, Soldado was immense . Finished 5th in the league 1 point behind City. United won the league. Lost in the League Cup final to Chelsea. Lost in the FA Cup final to Liverpool (Suarez sold, Sturridge injured, they beat me with Luis Enrique and Iago Aspas up top). Won the Euro League.

Played Newcastle to start the next season, won 2-1. Will probably never play this again

I've got one going with Bayer Leverkusen (maybe the 3rd or 4th one with them on this years game). I finally updated all the rosters too. Simulated the first season with them and was up and down. finished 5th. I'm off to a solid start this year.

                    My lineup looks like:
                    Leno
                    da Costa, Wollschied, Toprak, Boenisch
                    Bender, Reinartz, Castro
                    Bellarabi, Kiessling, Son

Danny da Costa is a player I've never valued before. He starts off on loan but he never really progresses much. He came back from loan this time with "an exciting prospect" I for one love that loans affect the potential of players.

Son is a blast to play with in this game. I like playing with Leverkusen because I can focus on defense, counter, and set pieces. I beat Schalke I think 3-1 with something like 38 percent of the ball. I've taken some notes for this and I'll post a proper update soon.

How's Your FIFA 14 Career Mode Going?

                      Cardiff City Career Update

                      October Games

                      BARCLAYS PREMIER LEAGUE

                      Cardiff 0 - 1 Newcastle

                      Cardiff 0 - 4 Tottenham

                      Chelsea 3 - 1 Cardiff

                      Norwich 2 - 3 Cardiff

CAPITAL ONE CUP ROUND OF 16

                      Leeds 1 - 2 Cardiff

                      Summary:

Bad start to the month but picked it up towards the end of the month by beating Norwich away and progressing to the Quarter Final of the Capital One Cup after beating Leeds. Might have to consider starting Berahino instead of Vokes has been great so far. I will give another month to Vokes and if he doesn't impress Berahino will start. Eikrem and Souttar are unhappy with playing time and rightly so because they both havnt featured much or at all. Juan Cala is feeling threatened by the arrivals of Souttar, Moore and Lascelles. Moore is only featuring as a backup RB for me will probably send either Souttar or Lascelles out on loan next season and bring in a new RB on pre-contract.

                      Current Record: 3-2-4

                      League Table Around Us:

                      9. Swansea - 16

                      11. Cardiff - 11
                      12. Sunderland - 10
                      13. Southampton - 9

Players of the Season so far (Have to have played at least 5 games so far to qualify)

                      Goalkeeper: David Marshall

                          Sturridge 47
After a quick passing move between himself and Morata, Sturridge rifled home hard and low.

                          Liverpool 2-0 Sunderland

                          Kelly 50

Hey guys, so my Ajax save finally got corrupted in the sixth season (the farthest ive been on FIFA 14 :P ) Its a good thing actually, since it was ridiculously overpowered and playing against even Bayern and Madrid seemed like walkovers. Simming would give results of 6-0, 7-0 etc.

Anyway, so I started a career with Everton this time. Disabled the first transfer window, so I am with my original team. Playing a very weird 4-2-3-1 with 3 AMs - usually Fellaini/Mirallas/Pienaar or Naismith. Tend to play Kone or Jelavic upfront.
Anyway, with a budget of $13 million initially - I did not really think of any purchases and simply sent out my scout to England (hired a 5* Judgement scout). Next I will probably get another scout and send him to Belgium.

Also looking at strengthening the team, and currently feel like getting Kovacic if I can manage to get the funds by the January transfer window, which seems highly unlikely - since I am not playing in Europe and that is where usually the remuneration comes from.

Guess I really need a better striker since Jelavic is good but not THAT good right now. Eyeing Muriel and Lewandowski (on a free - the staple purchase :P )

Currently unbeaten, and just played Man City who I DRUBBED 5-0 on World Class. Pienaar got a double. Everton are actually much better than what I had thought. Quite quick as well, just need to add some depth... and then we will be good to go.

I am also contemplating whether should I add a second rule of selling my players if a club offers twice his value - playing the Everton way Will add some realism... Should I?

Also, some suggestions on possible purchases would be much appreciated. I feel like the squad is lacking in depth in EVERY position :P

After Everton, I will SO PLAY AS PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN, and throw money around

In my Arsenal career mode I enquired about Carlos Vela (Walcott is out for 5 months) and they asked for $64,000,000! I offered $13,500,000 thinking it was a bug, but they declined and said that the least they will take is $42,500,000. Has anything like this happened to anyone else? In my Bayer Leverkusen career mode about a month ago I bought Vela for $12,000,000 with no hiccups.

Just wanted to mark this as the day the acquisition of Kendrick Perkins sparked a debate about stacking your team.
