Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

As your can see, I will be doing a Serie B CM with Novara. I just got the urge to dive into Italian football. I still will have an update for Terek by tomorrow or Saturday. I'm thinking Plymouth Argyle might be too good of a squad for the Football League Two, so I might switch to Southend United. I haven't made a final decision on that though. Anyway, expect more updates this weekend. It's been a crazy week at work, so I'm a little behind, but the updates are coming!

        Official Matches

        Villarreal CF 3 - 3 CA Osasuna
        OSA: Guillermo 4' 61' Palacios 68'
        VIL: Traoré 26' Costa 39' Moreno 90'
A great match worthy of a season opener, with the Basques and Valencians (not a typo) going toe to toe the entire ninety minutes. A dressing room goal started it all with Federico Palacios drifting wide to the right wing and then crossing the ball into the box to find Guillermo who then headed it into the net. A great start of the season for the Osasuna's star striker who continues his preseason goal scoring form.

Villarreal's goalkeeper Asenjo appears to have thought the ball was going out of bounds but was shocked to see the ball betray him and go into the net. The Yellow Submarine pushed forward looking for the equalizer and it was achieved in the 26th minute with their big man in the box Traoré heading in a free kick cross after losing Albentosa's loose mark. Villarreal completely turned the table just fourteen minutes later with a low shot from Costa that crept into the net through Riesgo's near post. 2-1 for Villarreal and they showed no signs of slowing down after the break. Osasuna refused to lose their first match of the season at home though, and in the 61st minute Guillermo overlapped Palacios with a run from behind and Palacios showed great vision to send a through ball in his direction. Guillermo did not waste any time and took his shot first time, beating Asenjo yet again.

Just seven minutes later Osasuna would flip the script and retake the lead with Guillermo sending Palacios a lobbed pass from the attacking third. Palacios brought the ball down and then used his speed to sprint past his markers and just barely get a shot in to put Osasuna ahead.

Right before the final whistle Villarreal rescued a point by capitalizing on a costly mistake from Riesgo. The ball had been crossed into the box and Riesgo came off his line but did not make an attempt for the ball. Moreno was given the liberty to head the ball and that's exactly what he did, equalizing the match at three all. An exciting match with great attacking and almost inexistent goalkeepers.

        Champions League - Qualifying Round
        SK Rapid Wien 1 - 2 CA Osasuna (B-Team)
        SKR: Alar 45'
        OSA: Davila 57' Kodro 79'
One of the most important matches in Chavez's career, as this was his opportunity of making it to his first ever, and the club's first ever, Champions League Group Stage. Chavez trusted his B-Team to take them to the Champions, and there was a hint of worry from the bench as Rapid Vienna played with strong motivation in Austria's capital. At approximately the 20th minute of the match, a penalty was called in favor of Osasuna and it froze the bench as this was the Spaniard's chance of taking a step towards the UCL. Ulises Davila stepped up, powered it to the right, but the keeper saved it!!!

The goalkeeper had dove too far to the right, but he was able to extend his foot and just barely save it with his leg. An incredible penalty save but terrible news for Osasuna! Only to make things worse, Vienna's Alar scored an amazing free kick right before the half to put Osasuna down 1-0. Alar has scored great free kicks on Osasuna last in the Europa League group stage, and he has done it again. Los Rojillos went into the halftime break with their heads low and down on the scoreline, but in the second half we saw a different Osasuna with more scoring opportunities. In the 57th minute Xavier Quinti, playing his first official start with Osasuna since signing for them in Chavez's first season, put in a perfect cross from the left wing and found Ulises Davila who lost his markers with his positioning and headed it into the net!

Osasuna had equalized and it was game on now. As we neared the end of the match Chavez dropped the 4-1-4-1 formation and changed to a 4-2-3-1, with Davila brought back to CAM and Kenan Kodro substituted in at ST. Marcos Alonso also came into the match at LM with the intention of bombarding the box with crosses. Kodro, the big man in the box, did exactly what Chavez brought him on for when he got to the end of a cross from Julian Luque and headed the ball into the net. The header went high and almost over, but it dropped just in time to go in under the crossbar! Impossible for the keeper to reach!

Vienna pushed forward for the equalizer but weren't able to get through Osasuna's defense in open play. The match ended 2-1, and Osasuna have highly important away goals going into the second leg which will be played at El Sadar.

CA Osasuna 1 - 0 Celta de Vigo
        OSA: Guillermo 88'
Osasuna made their season debut at home and boy was it a painful one. Los Rojillos dominated the match, but for one reason or another they just couldn't get the ball into the net. Celta's goalkeeper has to be praised, as he was given the MOTM award with 11 saves, but a huge chunk of the workload was picked up by his centre backs who played an outstanding match. Osasuna demolished Celta the last time they played with a tremendous 4-0 win, but since then Sergi Gomez has left Celta and joined Osasuna. Gomez was replaced by Costas next to De Amos and the two centre backs were impenetrable today. In the end Osasuna were finally able to get ahead in the scoreline, but it was only thanks to a rebound shot from Guillermo.

Yoel had continued his amazing form and saved a low shot from second half sub Ulises Davila on the left wing, but he parried it right to the center of the box where Guillermo anticipated it hit right back to score the winning goal. Osasuna took the three points but were left to wonder, did they get the right centre back from Celta?

        Champions League - Qualifying Round
        CA Osasuna (B-Team) 3 (5) - (2) 1 SK Rapid Wien
        SKR: Kainz 27'
        OSA: Davila 54' Kodro 75' Luque 86'
Once again Vienna took the lead first this time in the 27th minute, and they equalized the aggregate score line. The Austrians had little more than an hour to score another goal to void Osasuna's away goal advantage and significantly increase their chances of advancing. However they decided to defend their 1-0 lead, and although they held it well through the first half it was a big mistake. Davila scored the equalizer in the 54th minute from a play that started in Osasuna's box. Vienna were trying to score anther goal by crowding the box and passing it around the edges, but Osasuna's Ivan managed to intercept one of the passes and then sprint up the field with it. Once he reached the attacking third he sent Davila a lobbed through ball which the Mexican forward brought down with great control, and then sent a powerful shot to the keepers far post that just barely avoided the woodwork and went in!

The home side didn't stop attacking there though as they wanted to make sure Vienna didn't get back up and give them another scare. Osasuna took the lead in the 75th minute and put Vienna to sleep with a shot hitting the crossbar and then second half sub Kenan Kodro diving to get to the rebound and score the deciding goal.

With little time left in the match Vienna were virtually out already, but Julian Luque made sure they were down and out by scoring the third goal for Osasuna in the 86th minute. Luque had received a pass from second half sub Nono and he then used his left foot to finesse and curve the ball into the net.

Vienna now had four minutes to score three goals. Needless to say they were unable to make a comeback, and Osasuna have qualified to their first ever Champions League!!! A huge accomplishment for the Basques who now have the opportunity to compete amongst Europe's best. Vienna really did have a chance at advancing, but they set up their game plan wrong. In the entire ninety minutes Vienna only had one shot on goal and that was their only goal of the match. Osasuna came out with the intention to win on aggregate and they achieved it.

        Copa Europe
FC Bayern Munich vs CA Osasuna
A cup that is overlooked at times, but a really good test for Osasuna who have just qualified to their first ever Champions League. Bayern Munich the champion of last year's Champions League, against Osasuna the champion of last year's Europa League.
        Spoiler

        Rayo Vallecano 1 - 1 CA Osasuna (B-Team)
        RAY: Pozuelo 71'
        OSA: Flaño 90'
Much like in the match against Celta, Osasuna dominated possession and had the most shots on goal but they just couldn't get the ball into the back of the net. The recently promoted side focused more on defense than attack, but they were able to open the scoreline in the 71st minute with Pozuelo heading the ball into the net. Osasuna didn't seem to have an answer yet, and Chavez decided to press high with numbers by going all out attack in the final minutes. The B-Team captain Miguel Flaño was now playing next to Davila as a striker while Vallecano defended with their lives. In the end it was Flaño who became the hero of the night, with Marcos Alonso crossing the ball into the box and finding his captain, who used his strength to fight his markers off and then head the ball into the back of the net!

Osasuna had finally found the goal they were looking for and rescued a point from the game. Rayo's goalkeeper Cobeño had one of the best games of his career, winning the MOTM award with a total of 14 saves.

CA Osasuna Player of The Month

        CAM - Ulises Davila (Mexico) (71 OVR 26yrs) (+1)
The season's first POTM award goes to the attacking midfielder Ulises Davila, who may not be a First Team player but has been an increasingly vital player for the B-Team and has also made important appearances as a sub for the First Team. For example in the match against Bayern Munich, Davila was brought on in the second half for Palacios to play as a CAM behind Guillermo. The team did lose and they conceited a goal when Davila was on the field, but Osasuna's attack had a different face after he was brought on. Davila has also just received his first ever call up to Mexico's senior national team and is expected to make his international debut with them in the upcoming break. Davila certainly has incredible things coming up for him this year.

        August Headline

        UEFA Champions League
Osasuna are going to their first ever UEFA Champions League!! They'll want to make an impact as well rather than just settling with making an appearance, so it is believed the B-Team will have more league responsibilities this season compared to last. The Champions League is a tough competition though and they have been drawn in a tough group. Osasuna will be in the same group as one of England's best Manchester City, Italy's Napoli, and Germany's historic Borussia Mönchengladbach. Osasuna's first ever Champions League match will be against Napoli at El Sadar.

        Champions League - Group H
        1. Manchester City - 0 points
        2. Napoli - 0 points
        3. Borussia Mönchengladbach - 0 points
        4. CA Osasuna - 0 points

        Conclusion
Contrary to other transfer windows I've been through with Osasuna, I really enjoyed this window. I feel the teams in my league spent their money wisely and it this season will be much more competitive. Even if you look at the window's top 3 transfers you can see that the teams that let go of a big player replaced him with another big player. I was busy with departures but not so much with arrivals. I only had one more transfer target but I decided to leave him for January.

My first two games next month will be against Egypt and South Africa with Mexico. As I mentioned in the last Mexico update, I didn't call up any of our top players and instead only called up players I haven't used at all and players I have only used a little. Mexico is currently 4 1/2 stars but after my changes we went down to 4 stars. Since our opponents aren't as competitive, I will take advantage to see as many players as I can. Both lineups will be different and I'll be taking mental notes to see who deserves another call up in the future, regardless of overall.

That's all for this month! I've been playing ahead so I just need to type up the next update.
        Thanks For Reading!

Has anyone seen the news about La Liga. I saw today on a cnn that la Liga was suspending matches beginning May 16 because of TV deal. I was like this is something because the season is almost over. What's you guys take on this.

Side note Roma has lol but clinched the number two spot for this season. Juventus has the league won and we now won our last five matches including a convincing 3-0 win over third place Lazio. Only Palermo left to finish the season.

How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

Indi I forgot to reply to you regarding Raul Jimenez. Personally, I don't like him lol. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact he came from Club America. Also the fact that Atletico weren't even scouting him when they signed him. Although it really made me crack up when the Atletico fans saw that his twitter was that of a Real Madrid fanboy's and they gave him hell for it. Diego Simeone's friendship with the then America manager Mohamed played a HUGE role in the transaction. So, in real life I don't like him. In the game, I don't like him either haha just kidding it's not that I don't like him it's just that I've had much better results from Erick Torres. Jimenez has it all in the game though: speed (78/79) strength (82) height (6'1") ball control (78) heading (84) volleys (78) etc. etc. He has great stats for a striker and he's 77 overall in my career, but like I said for some reason I've had much better performances from Torres who is currently 74 OVR in my career but his potential is 78 in the most recent squad update. I'm positive you'll achieve great things if you sign either of them.

Also a quick announcement gents. As you all know I've been having a lot of fun with Osasuna, but recently I've had the strong temptation to return to England for another career. Missing the Wimbledon days and plus, EA made all kinds of new features for the Premier League and I haven't even gotten to see them yet. I currently have two teams in mind, one is in the Premier League and the other is in League 1. I don't really have the time to run two careers simultaneously, so if the temptation overpowers me I may drop the Osasuna career temporarily and begin a career mode in England.

Personally I'd prefer to see Osasuna be kept going as I've really enjoyed it. I'd be happy to see an English career from you though if that is what you want to do.

You got off to a cracking start! Wonderful goals from Cresswell and Dybala although the keeper as you said maybe could have done better with Cresswells. Great to see the big Geordie getting back on the score sheet and there was nothing to be done on the OG. It looked a pretty even game judging by the stats but you just had that little bit more quality. Very nice winning streak you are on and I hope that you can continue it against St. Etienne. BTW, just a question: How big is your squad now?

Figured with the rival career, where I have to wait for others to post, it'd be good to post on another career as well. There are quite a few teams to pick from.

I chose Stoke as I feel that you could continue on Mark Hughs' job of turning Stoke from a long ball team to a more technical, possession based side.

Decided to splash £637k on a second Youth Scout. He is a 3*3* and where do you guys suggest I send him for 3 months?

My other 2*3* Scout is just been deployed to the Netherlands for 3 months after being in England for 3 months. He picked up the following player.

                      Kyle Harvey - 37-47 Ovr - 79-94 Pot - 16 - MID/LB/RB

Looks like he will be a winger judging by his stats. He may even turn into a pacey fullback. (One can hope right?)

Right, so here is my first post in this trio of CMs. Judging by the other two teams, I think I am exactly in the middle ground. I can't sign Hazard like Regens did, yet I have a bit more room with my transfers than Jamie. So, lets see how I did with my first 2 months!

                        Transfers

                        In

                        Marko Arnautovic - Age 25 - Austria - 77 OVR
Arrived from Stoke City for €8.000.000

                        Cedric - Age 23 - Portugal - 76 OVR
Arrived from Sporting Portugal for €7.000.000

                        Paulo Dybala - Age 20 - Argentina - 77 OVR
                        Arrived from Palermo for €16.000.000

                        Out

                        Klaas-Jan Huntelaar - Age 31 - Netherlands - 83 OVR
Sold to FC Barcalona for €18.000.000

Players sent on loan: Pascal Itter, Marvin Friedrich, Leroy Sane, Marcel Sobottka, Felix Platte, Timon Wellenreuther, Kaan Ayhan, Maurice Multhaup, Thilo Kehrer, Axel Borgmann

So, I will post the squad next post, but the whole idea of this transfer window was to bring in a new LM and a new RB. I felt that Arnautovic is a great fit - strong, fast, very good on the ball. He fits the Bundesliga style and our style of play aswell.

Cedric was more of a surprise buy, since I was looking at Danilo and Ivanovic, yet with buying Arnautovic, I couldn't afford the other two. So, Cedric popped up, and he is a really good one.

So, before our second game, I managed to sell Huntelaar, since I figured that a new striker would be nice, yet it is really difficult to sign a striker as good as him. So during the deadline day, I went with my gut and what I have seen from Moose, and signed Paulo Dybala. I haven't actually tried him yet, but I am keen to see how good he is.

So here is my first post. Obviously, not the start that Regens has had, but still pretty happy with it. Anyway, I will hand it over for Jamie now. I hope you other guys enjoy it!

                          Ha Ho He

                          Transfers Out

                          Andre Hoffmann
                          , €3,100,000 to SC Freiburg
Daniel Didavi, €6,000,000 to 1899 Hoffenheim
Josip Drmic, €36,000,000 to Tottenham Hotspur

                          Transfers In
Note: There are lots of them

                          Davie Selke

73 Ovr, Striker, 22 Years Old, Germany

                          €1,300,000

The cheapest signing Hertha made in the transfer window was surprisingly enough the young attacker Davie Selke. Werder Bremen let him go for just over one million euros which is a bargain for such a talented young player. Selke made his breakthrough in the 2014-15 season and since then he's been consistently good for Werder. Now the 6'3'' attacker will be used as rotation.

                          Moritz Leitner

75 Ovr, Central Midfielder, 24 Years Old, Germany

                          €4,700,000

Another player who was signed purely for squad depth is the 24-year-old Moritz Leitner. The German midfielder was considered a big talent when he was playing for Dortmund in 2011-13 but after a bad loan spell at Stuttgart and some attitude problems he was put in the reserves. Now Leitner will continue to warm the bench of another Bundesliga which is Hertha Berlin.

                          Naldo

82 Ovr, Centre Back, 34 Years Old, Brazil

                          €5,000,000

Ronaldo Aparecido Rodrigues, also knows as Naldo, became the oldest player Hertha BSC have signed in the last probably ten years. The 6'6'' giant is one of the best and most underrated defenders of the league and he has been an important piece of Wolfsburg's defence in the last few years. Hertha's manager Simon Müller believes that the defender has at least two more years left in him. The Brazilian will take John Anthony Brooks' starting spot and he'll form a very tall centre back partnership with Joel Matip.

                          Adrian Ramos

77 Ovr, Striker, 31 Years Old, Colombia

                          €5,500,000

Like the Olympiastadion commentator would say: "Berliner, Brandenburger, Hertha fans", he is back! The legendary Adrian Ramos has returned to Berlin after a three-year long spell in Dortmund. In his last season (2013-14) at the club he scored sixteen league goals and lead his team to eleventh place in the league. After that the Colombian who is one of the world's best at heading the ball suffered from poor form in Dortmund and now he has rejoined the club that made his name into a big one. Even though Ramos isn't the same player he was a few years ago he's still very dangerous and he'll be a good rotation for Salomon Kalou.

                          Leon Goretzka

79 Ovr, Central Midfielder, 22 Years Old, Germany

                          €6,000,000 + Per Skjelbred

Hertha have wanted to sign Leon Goretzka since 2015 and now they've finally succeeded in that. The youngster was the sixth player to join Hertha under Müller's command and he arrived for a fee of six million. Hertha's midfielder Per Skjelbred was sent to Gelsenkirchen in the same deal. Goreztka is one of the biggest German footballing talents and he has been compared to Paul Scholes. The 22 years old midfielder can play in numerous positions, including every position in the middle and the wings. He'll probably be used as an every-game substitute.

                          Maximilian Meyer

77 Ovr, Attacking Midfielder, 21 Years Old, Germany

                          €8,000,000

Another very talented German gem Hertha bought in the summer was the ex-Schalke midfielder Maximilian Meyer. He joined for eight million euros from Atletico Madrid. The talent is a very good dribbler and he has been compared to Mario Götze and even Lionel Messi himself. Agility, shooting, passing and dribbling. Max Meyer has got it all. Daniel Didavi's replacement has the potential to become one of the world's best midfielders.

                          Karim Bellarabi

80 Ovr, Right Winger, 27 Years Old, Germany

                          €9,500,000 + Andre Hahn

Hertha's Andre Hahn wanted to leave the club after a poor 2016-17 season and that's what happened. He was used in a money + player deal to get Karim Bellarabi from Bayer Leverkusen into the club. Bellarabi, who was pretty much a nobody before the 2014-15 season, will challenge Julian Draxler for the starting place on the right wing. Bellarabi's first big season was very successful and he got called to the national team. Now the winger who has a fair amount of pace, skill and shooting will get a lot of playing time in Berlin.

                          Grzegorz Krychowiak

81 Ovr, Defensive Midfielder, 27 Years Old, Poland

                          €10,000,000

Last season Fabian Lustenberger didn't do an amazing job as the holding midfielder of Hertha and the club addressed that by signing Grzegorz Krychowiak for ten million euros from Sevilla, thus making him the most expensive purchase Hertha made in the summer. The Polish destroyer has had been very successful at Sevilla and he was one of the best defensive midfielders of the team. Krychowiak is strong, fast and defensive minded, everything you expect from a very good anchor man.

                          August 2017

                          Hannover 96 0 - 1 Hertha BSC
                          Calhanoglu 66'

Maybe it was just excitement or pre-season fatigue but Hertha did not play well at all in their season opener. The Berliners could've gotten into the lead in the 52nd minute when Karim Bellarabi had a dangerous shot but the ball bounced off both posts before getting cleared. In the 66th minute Hakan Calhanoglu scored the only goal of the game with a free kick that flew to the bottom right corner.

                          Hertha BSC 4 - 0 FC Kaiserslautern
                          Son 34', 40', Kalou 58' pen, Calhanoglu 78'

The newly promoted Kaiserslautern didn't stand a change against the holding champions in this game. The Berliners got the lead about half an hour into the game when Heung-Min Son cut in from the left flank and curled tha ball into the bottom right corner. Just five minutes he got a brace with a tap in from Bellarabi's pass. Ten minutes into the second half a penalty was called and Salomon Kalou slotted it into the bottom right corner. In the 78th minute Hakan Calhanoglu scored the fourth goal of the game with a powerful shot from inside the box.

                          VfB Stuttgart 1 - 1 Hertha BSC
                          Maxim 14'
                          Kalou 18' pen

This result isn't what Hertha were looking for at all. Stuttgart got the upper hand under fifteen minutes into the game when Diego Benaglio decided not to catch the ball from the corner. The ball flew right over him and Alexandru Maxim stretched his leg out to tap the ball into the net. The lead lasted only four minutes as Salomon Kalou equalised from the penalty spot. The second half was mainly played in Stuttgart's half but Hertha weren't able to get past their defensive bus.

                          Hertha BSC 2 - 1 Borussia Mönchengladbach
                          Draxler 16', Son 27' pen
                          Raffael 59'

The first half an hour of this game saw Hertha play amazingly. Everything went their way and they scored twice, first with Draxler's header and then with Son's penalty goal. Mönchengladbach managed to pull one back right before the hour mark when Raffael shot a rebounded shot into the net (I swear he scores every time against me!). The goal wasn't enough as Hertha were able to defend their lead.

A very busy window! What a fee for Drmic! I like that you brought Ramos back to the club and I like the signings of Krychowiak and Goretzka. That is quite a team you have built up now. Which of rbw new signings has impressed you the most? You made a solid start to the league with 2 wins and 2 clean sheets. The draw them wasn't ideal but at least its a point and you ended the month with a win.

The chief executive said that I could've gotten up to €43m for Drmic but I decided to play it safe. Naldo and Bellarabi have been the best signings so far. The season is long, though.

Figured with the rival career, where I have to wait for others to post, it'd be good to post on another career as well. There are quite a few teams to pick from.
I went for Aston Villa because they can't instantly challenge for the title which means that you have to build them up effectively but they also have a great foundation to build upon.
