Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

    The New Clough

    December 2014

    December 6, Hillsborough Stadium
    FL Championship: Match 19

    Sheffield Wednesday 0-3 Nott'm Forest

    Assombalonga 45' 66' Cataldi 60'

    MotM: Britt Assombalonga (NFO, 8.3)

The 4-2-3-1 we tried out today worked wonders as we controlled the game, scored three times and kept a clean sheet. Congo man Assombalonga bagged another brave before he set up Cataldi for his goal. He played the ball around the corner into the Italian's path and he smashed it past Westwood at his near post. Assombalonga's first came when he intercepted Loovens' pass across the back line and his second was a header off a Cataldi corner.

    December 13, City Ground
    FL Championship: Match 20

    Nott'm Forest 2-0 Bournemouth

    Antonio 35' 82'

    MotM: Michail Antonio

We scored against the run of play as Bournemouth had several early chances that Darlow either saved or they put wide. Assombalonga set up the goal getting past Elphick before he slid the ball across to the waiting Frenchman for an easy tap in. Nothing much happened for either of the sides until Camp, under pressure, hurried a clearance and it instead rolled along the ground to Antonio on the edge of the area where he pounced sliding the ball home. The energetic winger had a great game today and he fully deserved his MOTM award.

    December 20, The Valley
    FL Championship: Match 21

    Charlton 1-3 Nott'm Forest

    Morrison 17' s/o Church 40'
    Fryatt 17' (Pen) 60' Veldwijk 87'

    MotM: Matty Fryatt

The majority of the side was rested due to a game against Blackburn in two days time. Among those to return was Matty Fryatt, getting his first start since coming back from injury. He repaid the favour with a brace inside the hour. The first came from the penalty spot after Cohen was axed down by Morrison with the defender getting a straight red card. The second came after a Simon Church goal five minutes before halftime. Spearing avoided two challenges while making his way into the box and he pulled it back to Fryatt who slotted the ball home first time past Henderson. The icing on the cake came from a substitute, Lars Veldwijk. Wiggins and Wilson became tangled out under pressure from Scotsman Chris Burke. This caused Wilson to sky a clearance into the box and Henderson stupidly came out to claim it but he didn't even jump. Veldwijk used his prowess in the air to beat Solly and head into an empty net. Another good three points achieved.

    December 23, City Ground
    FL Championship: Match 22

    Nott'm Forest 1-1 Blackburn Rovers

    Veldwijk 89'
    Dunn 45' Williamson 61' s/o

    MotM: Jake Kean (BLB, 7.2)

Blackburn started brightly and our keeper, Darlow, was forced into an early save by former Cardiff City man Rudy Gestede. Rovers stopper, Jake Kean was in a terrific vein of form making 8 saves over the course of the match. The first half was a tight affair with only Blackburn's captain David Dunn's strike separating the sides when he netted in stoppage time. Spearing failed to follow the run and Jordan Rhodes slid his teammate in to finish coolly. This came just mere minutes after MOTM Kean made a brilliant double save to deny Assombalonga. The tides turned when Williamson got himself a red card, diving in from behind in a scissors motion on Cataldi. We couldn't get through however hard we tried and Rhodes nearly made it 2-0 in the 81st minute but Darlow kept it out. As Keano went all out attack, he brought on the big man Lars Veldwijk up front. This substitution was rewarded with Veldwijk netting off a Paterson pass a minute from time. He almost snatched the win with another effort but Kean was not to be beaten a second time.

    December 27, Madejski Stadium
    FL Championship: Match 23

    Reading 2-1 Nott'm Forest

    Robson-Kanu 5' Mackie 74'
    Lansbury 87'

    MotM: Jamie Mackie (RDG, 7.4)

Jamie Mackie, on loan from us, was instrumental in Reading's victory today. He assisted Robson-Kanu's 5th minute goal with a cross and then scored one himself in the 74th latching onto an over the top ball before finishing past Darlow. Lansbury did hit the net for us when we changed to a 4-4-2 Diamond Wide and brought Veldwijk on. He provided the pass through to Lansbury and he made no mistake making it a nervous final three minutes for Steve Clarke and his men.

    Player of the Month

    Britt Assombalonga

The pacey striker netted twice this month while also setting up a further two. He earned one MOTM award was has made himself a mainstay in the lone striker role.

We stay 5th having earned 10 points, although we did move up to 4th at one stage this month. Wigan dropped from 2nd to 6th while the majority of the top 6 stays the same. The bottom 3 remains as it was a month ago with Brentford climbing above Rotherham by a point.

    January Games
    3/1 Bournemouth (a)
    6/1 Sheffield Wednesday (h)
    10/1 Sheffield Wednesday (h)
    17/1 Blackburn Rovers (a)
    24/1 Charlton (h)
    31/1 Leeds United (a)

We want to beat Bournemouth, Chartlon and Sheffield Wed twice while also picking up at least a draw away to Leeds and Blackburn. That'll mean our aim is 11/15 points and also advancing in the cup.

Jack Hunt, RB, 69 Ovr, 24, England
His loan has expired and he has returned to Crystal Palace.

Robert Tesche, CM, 70 Ovr, 27, Germany
Robert wants to leave due to lack of game time.

I'll have to look for replacements for them. I'm also considering moving on Matty Fryatt seeing as he has decreased from 70 Ovr to 69 Ovr and is only 28 due to an injury. I'm also looking to secure a pre-contract keeper and maybe a CB for when Karl Darlow and Jamaal Lascelles loans are over. (I hope that they will last the season.)

Any positions you guys think I should upgrade in January? Thanks for Reading and I hope you enjoyed it!

      Match 1

They continued to dominate and Frantz forced a wonderful save from Sommer. We finally had a chance on the hour mark, Kramer heading over when in open space from a free kick. So are we all ready to go onto the next month? How should we do this, just post and then wait for the others, and that'll go on until January? Or should we keep an order?

EDIT: Also, like the Gabbiadini transfer. If you didn't go for him, I was going to try in the winter. Hope he flops lol. Also, Cruzerr, I like the Dybala transfer. Again, hope he flops.

Just keep the order, you post next, then I post, then Jamie does. We do this until January, to see if the table is different by then, so we can sort out who gets priority.

Alright, my post will be going up shortly then. Also, for the priority as of January, I think we should have it as a decision. So whoever is in first gets to decide if he wants to post second or third, or even choose to pick second or third, this way if you are wanting the other teams to sell players, you can wait for them to do so. Also, if you want to see where somebody else would post, you can go second or even third to see what they do. The 2nd team would then have the second selection, picking from the remaining options, and then the third team. Just a thought.

I get your point, but getting priority means that you post first aswell, since others need to see who you transfer first, if you get my idea.

                The Rivalry - Season 1 - September

                FSV Mainz 0 - 4 BVB
                Hazard(BVB)21'(PEN)
                Aubameyang(BVB) 45'
                Aubameyang(BVB) 90'
                Reus(BVB) 90'

Notes: From the outside, looks like a thrashing, but really isn't. This was a close, contested game where Leno really came through. Also, I have just realized I forgot to include in my first posts that I have gotten Leno, it was a deal for €7,000,000 as well as Weidenfeller. I hope I don't make this mistake again, as it could be pretty bad. Anyways, the last goal from Reus was actually open-net, after they brought their keeper up for a corner.

                BVB 2 - 0 VFB Stuttgart
                Aubameyang(BVB) 45'
                Alaba(BVB) 85'

Notes: Another good game and a clean sheet, Alaba was played at midfielder, which he could see a lot, when I don't want to play Kagawa at CM, because after getting rid of Gundogan, I failed to sign a proper CM replacement.

Marco Reus out for 3 weeks with a Sprained Knee

                FC Schalke 2 - 2 BVB
                Hazard(BVB) 5'
                Draxler (FCS) 60'
                Aubameyang (BVB) 78'
                Nastasic (FCS) 90'

Notes: Disappointing. Out of all the games so far this season, this is definitely the one I wanted to win the most. I would've rather lost in the other 2 games this month, and picked up a win in this game, even though it would not make sense point wise, that's how much it meant. Personally, I think I played the best I have all season. The Draxler goal was my only mistake. Nastasic's goal was amazing. It was a shot from outside the box on the left side of the net, where he hit it with his left foot, and it ended up in the top right corner, leaving Leno no chance. Schalke really played well, and if one thing goes differently, they win.

The table ends the month as:

                Team: | Position | Played | W | D | L |GD | PTS |
                Bor. Dortmund | 1 | 6 | 5 | 1 | 0 | 12 | 16 |
                Bor. M'gladbach | 2 | 6 | 4 | 1 | 1 | 5 | 13 |
                Eint. Frankfurt | 3 | 6| 4 | 1 | 1 | 5 | 13 |
                Hamburger SV| 4 | 6| 4 | 1 | 1 | 3 | 13 |
                Bayer Leverkusen | 5 | 6 | 4 | 0| 2 | 6 | 12 |
                FC Schalke | 6 | 6 | 3 | 3 | 0 | 4 | 12 |
                FC Bayern | 7 | 6 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 5 | 11|
                VfL Wolfsburg | 8 | 6 | 3 | 2 | 1 | 3 | 11|

This is the table, didn't realize how much of a mess I've made it into lmao. If any of you have found websites that allow you to efficiently create tables I'd love to see them. Otherwise, hopefully I can find something out lol.

                Thanks For Reading!!!

Right, but what I am saying is they would have the option of not playing until the others post, and act like they are essentially second or third. This could come in handy if they want one of the rivals players and they want to see if they sell them, because if they can't wait and see, they would have to wait until the next window. Again, it is just a thought, and is optional.

EDIT: Also, I have just realized I have not yet sent out a congratulations to sportsfreak on being cancer free! It's a great thing to hear, congrats!

Very well then, thanks for the feedback! I have also really enjoyed this career I've just been looking forward to seeing all the new features that were added to the premier league in 15. I'm just going to shake them off for now and keep Osasuna going. So far it's the longest career I've ever had in Spain and I'm still having fun with it.

Angelino played a give and go with Costa and received the ball back moving to the right side where the defense had shifted away from before slotting the ball past the keeper on the near post. Montañes found Caicedo on the right side of the box and he was able to fire the ball inside the near post. Aquino sent a corner into the box and the defense headed the ball just as the keeper was about to punch it out and it went towards the goal where Lopo tracked it and knocked it in with a diving header. Iglesias attacked to the right before cutting it back to the left side and finding space through the defense to place the ball to the far post.

Asenjo found Aquino on the right side of the goal and he fired it between the keeper's legs and into the net. Insua clipped the player from behind to concede a penalty and Candreva stepped up to convert to the bottom left corner. Radu mistimed his challenge and took out Aquino inside the box allowing De Tomas to convert once again from the penalty spot. With time running out Barral put the match away as he raced down the right side and fired a shot that hit off the keeper's hands and flew into the upper net to sent Deportivo into the semi-finals.

Guardado lined up a free kick from the left side of the box and curled it around the wall and inside the left post to double the lead. Costa sprinting down the left wing and sent a cross into the middle of the box for De Tomas to head to the far post into the bottom corner. Lopez found Nolito on the left side of the box and he curled a shot perfectly into the top right corner to pull one back. Aquino played it to Asenjo in the middle of the field and he sent the ball ahead quickly to De Tomas on the right side of the goal for a quick strike into the top left corner. Lopez played a ball over the top for Nolito on the right side of the goal and he fired a shot through the keeper's arms and into the net. Asenjo played the ball through for Reyes on the right side of the goal and he slotted the ball into the bottom right corner to complete the scoring.

Eriksen played a ball over the top finding Lennon behind the defense for a header that was kept out, but Lennon was the first to the rebound to knock it into the net. Lennon sent a cross in from the left wing picking out Soldado on the back post for a header into the top right corner. Barral dribbled towards the middle before cutting it back to the right and splitting two defenders to fire a shot into the top left corner. Luisinho gave the ball away just outside the box and Chadli took a couple touches before slotting it into the bottom right corner to give Tottenham a commanding lead going into the second leg.

Timor took the ball from Angelino and pushed it ahead to Gemeiro who slid to knock it past the oncoming keeper to open the scoring. Barral pushed the ball ahead on the counter from the right side and cut it back to the middle of the box around his defender to fire inside the left side of the goal. Carmona came down the right side and used a big touch to get past the defense and go through on goal to place the ball off the left post and in. Urreta attacked the left side of the box and sent a low cross into the box finding Iglesias in the middle for a quick tap to the opposite post. Carmona played the ball from the right side of the box to Barral in the middle and he took one touch and then slotted it past the keeper in the bottom right corner. Angelino sent a cross in from the left wing and two defenders got in each other's way while trying to clear it and Iglesias chased down the loose ball and hit it just under the keeper. Iglesias played a ball up the middle and Barral ran around two defenders to get there first and place it into the net.

Guardado ran past his man down the left side of the box avoiding a challenge before sending a low ball across the face of the goal for Barral to tap in on the back post for the only goal of the match. After a inexplicable poor performance at home in the first leg Deportivo was knocked out sending Tottenham through to the final.

                      David Barral

David Barral showed why he was brought in for this year. He had an outstanding month leading the attack, totally 6 goals in the process. His hat-trick against Valladolid was the highlight of the month.

                      Manager Comments

Europa League - It is extremely disappointing to be missing the final for the competition. It all came down to a poor performance in the first leg at home. We couldn't climb back after dropping a game we should have done much better in. This is a great learning experience though. We will remember this when we go into the Champions League next season.

Academy Update - Little movement in the academy over the past few months, but we finally added some new young players to the mix. Two keepers have joined the academy and both have tons of potential to become elite stoppers. Francisco Rotela is young at only 15 and still has a lot of growing to do. Mario Ruiz on the other hand at 17 is already at a point where he could contribute to the first team. He could possibly get a chance to join the senior team sooner rather than later depending on if a spot opens up in the rotation.

Title Race - Still one point back from Real Madrid with only 3 matches left to play. Our last three are Elche, Bilbao, and Getafe. We need to focus on taking care of our end and hope that Real Madrid either lose or draw a match to open that door for us. This will no doubt come down to the very end, and I am excited for this to play out. We have put ourselves in a great position, but we will need some help down the stretch to pull it off.

Point difference and goal difference comes into play.

                              Ha Ho He

                              September 2017

                              1899 Hoffenheim 0 - 2 Hertha BSC
                              Ramos 10', Draxler 31'

A typical routine victory for Hertha. The highlight of the game was Adrian Ramos' first goal since joining Hertha again. The ball was whipped into the box and the strong striker headed it into the left corner of the net. Twenty minutes later Julian Draxler doubled the lead after stealing the ball from Hoffenheim's defender.

                              Hertha BSC 2 - 2 Inter Milan
                              Bellarabi 16', Naldo 34'
                              Icardi 23' pen, D'Ambrosio 90'

Inter did not deserve a point from this game but sometimes football is very unfair. The game begun well for Hertha who got the lead thanks to a successful counter attack. Just seven minutes later Hernanes was tackled in the box and Icardi slotted in the following penalty. Ten minutes after that Hertha got the lead again when Naldo headed the ball into the net from a corner. In the following hour Hertha had several chances but Handanovic had a great game in goal. In stoppage time D'Ambrosio dribbled inside the box and took a weak shot. Diego Benaglio should've easily catched the ball which was going in two feet to the right from him but instead of doing something logical the keeper decided to stare at the ball and let it in.

                              Eintracht Frankfurt 0 - 5 Hertha BSC
                              Calhanoglu 14', 28', Bellarabi 42', Son 45', Kalou 63' pen

Hertha were superior to their opponents in this game and the fans were treated with amazing team work in attack. Hertha's free kick master Hakan Calhanoglu opened the scoreline in the 14th minute with a free kick from about 25 yards out. Fourteen minutes later he doubled the lead. Salomon Kalou got the ball at the edge of the box and he saw Calhanoglu's run. Kalou then lobbed the ball over the defenders and Calhanoglu had an easy job heading it past the keeper. Fifteen minutes after that Karim Bellarabi scored the third of the game from a counter attack and just a few minutes later Heung-Min Son got one from Salomon Kalou's pass. Right after the hour mark the Ivorian attacker got one himself from the penalty spot.

Hertha BSC 5 - 1 Red Bull Leipzig
                              Ramos 8', 53', 60', 65', 90'
                              Boyd 29'

Adrian Ramos is back in terrific style! Eight minutes into the game against the newly promoted teams he scored his first goal at the Olympiastadion of the season with a nice header to the left corner of the net. Under ten minutes into the second half he got a brace with another header and just seven minutes later the Colombian finished his hattrick from a counter attack. It didn't end there as Ramos went ahead and headed another goal five minutes after that and in stoppage time he finished his fifth goal of the game with a tap in from Bellarabi's pass. Oh, and Leipzig's Boyd scored at one point.

                              Werder Bremen 1 - 4 Hertha BSC
                              Bargfrode 4'
                              Ramos 40', 74' pen, 90', Calhanoglu 80'

Wow. Adrian f*cking Ramos went ahead and scored another hattrick, thus bringing his total tally of the last the two games to eight goals. Just wow. Things didn't start well for the Berliners as Bremen got the lead only four minutes into the game when Bargfrode's shot got deflected into the net. Half an hour later Ramos showed that he's even better than three seasons ago and he equalised the game with a very powerful first time shot from Draxler's pass. Half an hour after that he got a brace from the penalty spot and five minutes later Hakan Calhanoglu added one more to the lead from a counter. Ten minutes after that Ramos finished his hattrick with -surprise, surprise- a header.

                              Bursaspor 0 - 4 Hertha BSC
                              Kalou 40', 83', 86', Calhanoglu 45'

The first twenty minutes of this Champions League game against arguably the worst team of the group was tough for Hertha but Azeez's red card changed everything. Salomon Kalou scored the first of the night forty minutes into the game from a counter attack and five minutes later Hakan Calhanoglu curled one in from inside the box. In the 83rd minute Kalou finished a brace from another counter attack and just three minutes later he got a hattrick after stealing the ball from kickoff.

                              Hertha BSC 1 - 0 Borussia Dortmund
                              Son 17'

The first half went well for Hertha and they got the lead under twenty minutes into the game when Adrian Ramos played Heung-Min Son through on goal. After that the game slowed down until the final 20 minutes when Dortmund were throwing everything in attack resulting in huge pressure. The Berliners weren't able to clear the ball far away but their defenders had a very good game and they did not concede.

                              Player of the Month

                              Adrian Ramos

The striker who rejoined Hertha BSC in the transfer window picks his first Player of the Month award for his amazing performances in the month of September. The 31-year-old Colombian took no time to re-adjust to his old-new team. Ramos scored a whopping nine goals in September and he's the league top scorer at the moment. He has even stolen the starting spot from Salomon Kalou.

                              My Thoughts

September was an amazing month for us. Six wins, one draw, 23 scored goals and just four conceded goals is very good for me. If we manage to keep our form up the title will be ours before January.

Let's move to the transfers. How are they doing? Like you probably saw Ramos has been incredible. He is so overpowered especially in the air and he scores pretty much every header. Bellarabi has been good and I like using him. Max Meyer hasn't gotten too much playing time but he drops too deep for my liking. Goretzka and Krychowiak have been okay and Naldo has been a rock at the back. Leitner and Selke have made one appearance each.

Thank you for reading this post! I hope you have enjoyed it! Any feedback or suggestions will be appreciated!

Pretty good month imo, you just got unlucky in the last two months. Reading and Blackburn are pretty good teams, though. Automatic promotion is looking hard to reach now but it's still possible with a few good results. I think you need a centre back like you pointed out.

That was a very good month! Sad to see you lose to Spurs but it seems like they always cause problems to basically everyone here. Reaching the semi finals is a good achievement. The title race looks very interesting and you have a very good chance of winning it. You have an easy schedule apart from Bilbao.
