Gutted. I tried to get Khedira but he signed for Manchester City before I could Some great signings, young and will have you down for the future. I can see you with your youth and Regens with his money running away from me in future seasons. For now, I need to hold on!

No, I'm not wrong. Khedira is terrible (at the moment) and I'm glad he's gone. He is supposed to be a defensive midfielder or a box to box midfielder and Ancelotti played him in that position with very poor results. Maybe the guy was good a few years ago but that's the past.

He has never been a defensive midfielder. His favoured position since his time at Stuttgart has been an attack minded central midfielder. He was forced into the DM role and I'd say he's done a good job at it. He is an excellent player but I can compromise on this, he's not good enough to be a Galactico. Juventus, Wolfsburg, Arsenal. That's the sort of place he should go.

          League Match
          QPR 1 - 1 Hull City
          Hernandez 51'
          Zarate 74'

          MOTM Huddlestone

A game against a newly promoted side we really needed to win. We dominated the game and had eight shots to their three and 60% possession but we were not clinical enough. Butland made his debut and looked good, the shot that went in was a good shot that I didn't expect him to save. Abel Hernandez scored his first goal for the club. Huddlestone played him over the top and he chested it and then half vollied it to the far post. Zarathustra scored a volley as well. They had a corner that fell to him at the edge of the box and he hit first time into the bottom corner. A game I wish we could have won but we actually looked pretty good.

          Hernandez scoring.

          League Match
          Hull City 1 - 1 Stoke City
          Walters 23'
          Hernandez 43'

          MOTM Butland

A match that was evenly match the whole time. Stoke hit first through Walters who was played through with an excellent pass that split the whole defense apart and then smashed it past Butland as he slid to try and block it. Twenty minutes later we equalized when Abel got on the ball and passed two defenders and got to the goal line he pulled it back and cut in. He then had enough space to get a shot off that went in near post. The keeper probably should have saved it but had a good game besides that and we were unable to beat him again.

          League Match
          Aston Villa 2 - 2 Hull City
          Sanchez 12’ (OG) 72’
          Snodgrass 80’
          Dawson (OG) 90’

          MOTM Butland

Another disappointing draw. Aston Villa, despite not having their star forward any more, were much more threatening going forward than I anticipated. Directly after kickoff they were pressing and were awarded in the 12’ when a rebound fell straight to Sanchez who had an open goal from 6 yards out. It took us until the 72’ to get a goal. Hernandez tried to cross the ball to Benteke but Carlos Sanchez got in the way and deflected the ball into his own net. Ten minutes before full time Hernandez crossed the ball in once more and this time Snodgrass got to the end of it and nodded in to put us in the lead. It was obviously not meant to be though because right before full time Aston Villa had a shot that was going way wide for a goal kick that hit Dawson in the leg and rolled into the net before anyone could react.

          Butland making a fantastic save.

          Table:

          Starting Eleven:

          Bench: Aluko (72), Sagbo (70), Diame (73), Livermore (73), Rosenior (69), Chester (71), McGregor (73)

          My Thoughts:

We didn’t bring in many new faces, but the two we got on permanent deals will prove to be important this season. I really felt that the squad is pretty strong and that we should be okay. If we need to in January I can always strengthen the team then and for the most part I wanted to give the players that were already here a chance before they were sold off.

I was being criticized in the newspapers for selling N’Doye. I think it was fair for the fee that we got and the more than capable replacement. After playing with him for one game and then playing against him in another one he really didn’t look that good to me and Benteke has been much more threatening in the one game that he has played for us. Butland has already proved his worth and if he can keep it up we will be very grateful for it come the end of the season.

Looking at the positives from the games is that we didn’t lose. I wish we could have at least beat QPR but we could have done worse than getting the three points that we did in total. Our upcoming fixture could prove to be more difficult and I hope to get at least 4 points in league and just maybe beat Spurs in the Capital One Cup, which we will be playing a weaker side for.

          Fixtures:

          West Ham (H) - BPL
          Newcastle (A) - BPL
          Spurs (A) - CoC
          Manchester City (H) - BPL

Jose turned Diego Milito into a world class forward. Not the best idea to judge a player solely on his form under Mourinho. Khedira was a monster for Germany in the 2010 WC, which is why he moved to Madrid along with Ozil. It had very little to do with his overall skill; he was just bought on the back of a fantastic tournament.

I was just going to ask how much Boga played after you bought him in January. Two on a debut ain't bad. He's not been playing bad with Chelsea on their postseason tour. Scored a couple of times I believe and assisted one or two as well. What's his position on the game? I think he was playing as one of the three behind the strikes IRL. Now I'm eager to find out who your pre-contract players are! Get that update out ASAP!
Gonna be a while as I'm heading from Oslo to Finland, following which I fly in to the UK and then Moscow later this month. Good news is my company has helped with the relocation, so all my clothes and other non-valuables will be unpacked and set up by the time I get to my apartment. That includes my Xbox and entertainment centre. I haven't gone past the end of the first season, so it might be a few weeks before you hear anything from me on that front.

You make a good point but he was always tipped for big things and he still possesses incredible talent. I would not say he is world class but he is still a great player, and it seems like using sh*t is a bad choice of words when he would make almost any team a hell of a lot better in the midfield, with the exception of the best teams in the world.

I can say this from experience with Khedira. He's a quality player, and when I used him with Monaco he was the heart and soul of that team. He did everything. He scored many goals for me, He set up more than his fair share of goals(Clutch set up in the Champions league final against Dortmund for example.) He was a stud in the back and kept that back 6 in line.

I actually think that you and me are kinda in the same boat. Not completely, but just a tad bit.

You have a lot of good talent on your hands, with Hazard, Xhaka, Herrmann, Kruse, Depay, Sommer, Martinez etc. You are not in a bad position.

I have some youth talent aswell, with the likes of Draxler, Höger, Meyer, Bernard, Carvalho, Nastasic etc.

Regens is playing in a whole other field, as he has young talent and probably the biggest names in the game. Kroos, Hazard, Reus, Fabregas just to name a few.

And about Khedira; he is a fantastic player who has just been unlucky with injuries, that is atleast my opinion. World Cup always shows the best out of players who can handle it, because it involves pressure, and Khedira has shown himself to be a player who plays well in pressured situations.

This did however raise me a question, can you name me players, who have shined in the WC, and have gone on to be busts at bigger than their previous clubs?

But he has been a bit crap over the last couple of seasons. Maybe sh*t is too strong a word, and maybe it was down to Carlo's tactics, but he hasn't been at his usual level for a long time. Bad form doesn't last this long. I think injuries have taken their toll on the lad. Like you said, he would benefit from going to a team where he can be the heart of their midfield, perhaps in a slower league. Actually, he'd be a really good free signing for Juventus if they sell Pogba or Vidal this summer.

EDIT: Juve's chief executive has pretty much confirmed Khedira's signing, which basically confirms that Pogba is gone.

As soon as you said slow league, I thought of Serie A, haha. As you said Juve would be good if Pogba/Vidal leave. I wonder what he'd be like for Arsenal as a defensive midfielder. United kind of need a defensive midfielder too.

In relation to your season two post, that's grand! Enjoy Finland.

To be fair, I probably rate him too much and I think you've hit the nail on the head. However, I think he'll be back up and Pogba won't be going anywhere.

I think Khedira has already signed with Juve and apparently he is Pirlo's replacement. I'm still sticking to my words, Khedira is poor. After all he wasn't used too out of position. Kroos was also converted into a CDM and even though he isn't amazing there he did a good job.

Cruzerr A guy called Denilson was sold to Real Betis after a successful Confed Cup in -97 and he was a complete flop. There are many others but none come to my mind right now.

Thanks... yeah, Dybala just keeps scoring, despite his overall he is an absolute beast!

As for Khedira, I lean towards the Jamie boat on this one as I always thought he had some all around talent, but also I agree that he isn't the stopper type player that would be useful behind an extremely fluid and lethal front 5 for Real Madrid. Definitely much more suited to a Juventus, though I think he could succeed at Arsenal as he is rather large and strong, but would just need to stay healthy in the grueling BPL season.
