West Ham United - Episode #85: Just a Little Tease

In this episode, we try to avenge an early season loss to Crystal Palace as we head to Selhurst Park in the Capital One Cup Quarterfinals looking to book our place in the semis. Can we do it?

Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

Okay I have a question for you guys in regards to my Portsmouth career.

One of my goals is to pay of the £7M in debt like they did in real life. Obviously I can make money through the transfer market, and through competition prize amounts.

However, a big factor in how a club makes money is things like ticket sales and jersey sales, which are not in the game. One way I could replicate this is by pretending that my starting transfer budget are the club revenues from all of those non-represented items. I would maintain my policy of not spending more than I bring in until the total debt is paid off. Which makes my transfer budget effectively 0 anyway since it has to be funded through player sales.

Wage budget will not count into that total, and if I am forced to move any transfer budget over into wages then that is considered lost revenue.

So what do you guys think? Yay or Nay?

Any preference though? I don't mind going with either way, it will just change up my strategy a little.

I'm reading it as, you'll need to sell a player to have funds to buy a player. If that's right and you don't have a preference, well then go for it. An extra challenge to read about.

Soooo what you're saying is that your starting budget will not be touched (as it will go towards the 7m debt) and instead you will calculate your own available funds through the transfers of players?

EDIT: if that is the case, then I'm all for it. Initially when you first brought up the debt in your plan that's how I thought you'd be doing it. If that is not the case though, please explain lol

Nope you're right! That's exactly what I'm aiming at. The starting budget would go against the debt, and any profit from season operations would also effect it at the end.

Hey guys I'm back after getting lost on race tracks in project cars.

After the news of FIFA 16 I'm for the women's teams I just wish it was more. Also it doesn't look promising on more leagues being but we will see.

Now for Roma, we had a tremendous end to the season that saw us end up in Euro league semi losing to Shalke 04. But in league we got back into contention for league title. But in the end three crucial losses kept in third while Juventus wins Serie A again.

The new season will bring Roma back though will give you a taste of the new improved Roma for the third season. We have some major upgrades in some key areas, and tremendous depth in others. Glad to be back with you guys lets keep 15 going even stronger.

Hey, haven't posted on this thread since about page 500 . I have a few ideas for a fun CM that I want to share.

                        1) Parma Bankruptcy

Parma recently went bankrupt, so I had an idea. I took out all the good players and left the really old, really young and really bad. I wasted all my wages on a player who I then released, so I only had a few thousand € left. Currently in 2021, 11th in Serie A with some sick regens. Took me until 2017 to get promoted on Legendary.

                        2) Fortaleza

Take a team from the Colombian, Chilean or Argentinian leagues and put them in Liga Adelante in Spain. I chose Fortaleza, and replaced their roster with 55-65 rated Spanish players from the same league to make it more realistic. it just offers a change from the normal teams. Let me know if you want me to report on this one

I've noticed! Haha, first it was the potential upgrade on Jose Ramirez, was it? And now they throw this guy out!

                            Valencia CF

                            February 2015

                            Malaga CF 0 - 2 Valencia CF
                            Negredo 45', Bacca 90'

We weren't as dominant as last time against Malaga but we still managed to beat them quite comfortably. Negredo's header and Bacca's counter attacks were all that was required for the three points from the sunny city in the south.

                            Semi Final, 1st Leg
                            Real Madrid 2 - 4 Valencia CF
                            Kroos 62', Ronaldo 80'
                            Modric OG 31', Feghouli 48', Piatti 58', Bacca 90'

What an exciting game this was! Both teams attacked well and defended poorly but both set of fans surely enjoyed the game. Real Madrid controlled the first half an hour but our deadly counter attack in the 31st minute proved to be costly for them. Pablo Piatti played a low cross into the box but it hit Luka Modric's foot and bounced into the net. From that point we started to take control of the game and just three minutes into the second half Carlos Bacca played a defence-splitting pass into the box to Feghouli's feet. The quick winger took the ball around Casillas and curled it into the net to double our lead! Just ten minutes after that Pablo Piatti scored a third one. A few minutes later Toni Kroos pulled one back with a powerful near-post shot. The Whites threw everything at us and their pressure payed off in the 80th minute when Cristiano Ronaldo scored their second. They continued their hunt for an equaliser but it didn't work as Sofiane Feghouli played Carlos Bacca through on goal to net a fourth away goal. Things look bright for us going into our home leg.

                            RCD Espanyol 0 - 0 Valencia CF

A boring and dull game between our second squad and Espanyol. There weren't many chances and neither side deserved to win.

                            Semi Final, 2nd Leg
                            Valencia CF (7) 3 - 0 (2) Real Madrid
                            Feghouli 35', Bacca 57', 83'

I was expecting an even game and Real doing everything for a win but my expectations weren't met. We controlled the game in front of our fans and the scoreline shows it. Sofiane Feghouli got us into the lead in the 35th minute with a scissor kick to shoot a low cross past Casillas into the net. Twenty minutes after that Carlos Bacca doubled the lead with a rebound header and seven minutes before the full time whistle he got a brace with a top-net shot from a tight angle. We are through to the final where we will face Sevilla! We also lost Geoffrey Kondogbia for 6 weeks due to an injury.

                            Celta Vigo 0 - 2 Valencia CF
                            Bacca 31', 58'

Celta always seem to play well against top sides and they gave us a challenge in this game. Bacca was on top form again and his brace was enough to secure the win.

                            Valencia CF 0 - 1 Real Madrid
                            Ronaldo 38'

Our third game of the month against Real Madrid didn't end as well as the other two. This time they defended much better and we didn't create many chances. Ronaldo's goal in the 38th minute was enough for them to get the win. Our right back Antonio Barragan picked a red card for a brutal challenge on Gareth Bale.

                            Player of the Month

                            Carlos Bacca

After just one month month at the club Carlos Bacca has shown what a great goalscorer he is. In February he scored six important goals and assisted one more which puts his total tally for Valencia up to eight goals in nine appearances. The Colombian signing has slotted perfectly into the team.

                            La Liga Table

                            1. Valencia CF, 54 pts
                            2. Real Madrid, 50 pts (Game in hand)
                            3. FC Barcelona, 49 pts (Game in hand)
                            4. Athletic Bilbao, 45 pts
                            5. Villarreal CF, 43 pts
                            6. Atletico Madrid, 41 pts
                            ------------------------------------------------
                            18. Rayo Vallecano, 20 pts
                            19. SD Eibar, 19 pts
                            20. Granada CF, 12 pts

                            My Thoughts

Overall this was a great month for us! We progressed into the Copa del Rey finals, dropped some points in the league which means that RM and Barca have a better chance of overtaking us and Bacca scored a lot of goals. He has been very good so far and he's gone up in overall. Moya has been good in goal but he has problems at the near post. Iborra has been a good CDM so far and Sergio Rico hasn't played too much.

We are also suffering from injuries. The captain Dani Parejo is out for six more weeks and Guardado hasn't filled his shoes that well. Kondogbia is also out injured and even though he doesn't play that much he provides us with some depth. Combined with Barragan's red card we will have only one reserve player available for our next match against Sociedad. I could always recall some players from loan but they are mainly defenders and wingers. We will make it through this season but I'll have to make some adjustments in the summer. Also, I messed up with the ingame images so I used some real life ones.

Thank you for reading this post! I hope you have enjoyed it! Any feedback or suggestions will be appreciated!

I'd go with Fortaleza because of two reasons: Indi is doing a Parma career right now and Fortaleza sounds more exotic and exciting. Choose the one you prefer, though.

Yay or Nay?
I'm not completely sure what you mean but go for it, I guess.

Nice! I think you should do it that way then! It would make it more challenging on top of your policy of having to spend less than what you earned. The only downside I see is that it would be harder to start a youth academy since your starting budget will go untouched, but that's part of what makes it more challenging since you'll have to sell players/win prize monies to even start an academy. Looking forward to it!
