Re: How's Your FIFA Career Mode Going?

So I am going to be running a second career mode since I was going through my Sheffield United career pretty quick. This should keep me from getting burned out from it!

I'll post more about the team I choose later!

Anyone else finding it difficult to find time to play lately? Seems to be a match on every night in either Euros or Copa that I find myself watching.

Yeah I feel the same at the moment. I got a load of games that i've started playing too. I got Fallout New Vegas with all the DLCs for real cheap and i've got hooked on those (like I did with Fallout 3). Got another awesome game called This War of Mine and i'm back into FM16 and am replaying the stories of GTA 5 and Farcry 4 let alone all the Euro matches that are on!

Euros are going to keep me occupied as hell anyway, but I have somehow (like pretty much always?) lost a fire to play with Everton. Thinking of new ideas atm on how to jumpstart things yet again.

CM Davide Gavazzi, 67 Ovr, 29 years old, Italy

Gavazzi struck against Virtus Lanciano and Como, but his most important goal was a deciding 39th minute tally in a 1-0 win over Ascoli. Manager's Thoughts
Overall, a really good month as we got 4 wins and 2 draws to be sitting in a promotion spot. Our goal scoring slowed down near the end of the month, but we were still able to squeak out a couple of 1-0 wins. I hate that we blew a 2-0 lead over Pescara and had to settle for a 2-2 draw. 3 points against a direct promotion competitor like Pescara would have been huge, but we just have to move on. Also, a little disappointed in the 0-0 draw with Trapani, but they have a solid side that is just underachieving at the moment. In sum, for a side hoping to finish mid-table, I'm really happy with our progression as a club.

              Long-Term Injuries
There was some bad news on the injury front as we lost midfielder Eros Schiavon to a broken toe against Pescara that will sideline the 32-year-old for 3 months. At the same time, Assane Gnoukouri, who was just picked up on loan from giants Internazionale, suffered a broken tibia while away on international duty for Côte d'Ivoire and will be out 5 months. Losing two midfielders for such periods of time is certainly going to challenge a squad like us who don't have much depth.

              October 2015 - Fixtures
              10/3 - vs Cagliari
              10/6 - at Modena
              10/10 - vs Crotone
              10/17 - at Ternana
              10/24 - vs Vicenza
              10/27 - at Spezia
              10/31 - vs Brescia

A mixed bag for October as we play teams scattered all throughout the Serie B table. Obviously, the two biggest matches this month are versus 3rd place Cagliari and at 1st place Spezia. If we can take 4 of 6 points in those contests, I will be happy. It's hard to say we should win every other match, but that's what we'll be shooting for. Expectations are now high, even though it's still very early in the season.

2018 World Cup & '18-'19 Summer Transfer Window Update

Giovanni Marcelino's Finland was drawn into the same group as England, Ivory Coast, and China.

                Group Match 1
                Ivory Coast - Finland (2-0)
                Sara 12'
                Bony 45'

Unfortunate start for the debutants who played their African opponents evenly but couldn't show in on the scoreboard. An early goal by Saré put some added pressure on Marccelino's squad early on and then a beautiful free kick by Bony created what seemed like an insurmountable lead despite the fact both teams had 11 shots (IC 7 on goal, Finland 5)

                Group Match 2
                Finland - China (3-1)
                Eremenko 63' (Pohjanpalo)
                Huang Bowen 65'
                Pukki 86' (Salo)
                Eremenko 90+' (Salo)

A lot of history was made on this day as Finland scored their first ever goals in a World Cup and also netted their first victory ever in the tournament. They earned it too, edging China slightly in possession (53%) while vastly outshooting them (11 shots, 10 on goal vs 4/4 for China). With the win Marccelino's team gave themselves a fighting chance to move to the knockout rounds but they'll have a tough test to accomplish that.

                Group Match 3
                England - Finland (3-2)
                Rooney 19' (pen)
                Pohjanpalo 48' (Hetemaj)
                Walcott 51'
                Barkley 58'
                Riku Riski 90+'

Finland's time in the tournament came to an end as they were unable to earn a point vs a tough English squad. A questionable penalty call inside 20 minutes put Finland behind and their hard work to even up the score was wiped away with three minutes later as Walcott, who was a terror on the wings all night long put England back ahead. Barkley would put the dagger just minutes later making Riku Riski's late goal nothing but a stat.

Following the World Cup, Giovanni Marccelino turned in his resignation as the Finland head coach citing a need to keep all of his focus on Newport County.

                ___________________________________

Moving on to the 2018-2019 season, Newport County faces its toughest challenge yet under Marccelino's direction as they arrive to the FL Championship. Sources indicate The Exiles' board doubled their budget for the upcoming season, giving the Italian coach €2 million in transfer budget and €10K in wage budget. Despite the increase that still leaves Newport County with the lowest budget in the league, therefore the club will need to figure out additional ways to increase their budget in order to remain competitive this season. Reportedly the board is simply asking the team to achieve a mid-table finish and reach the Round of 32 in the domestic cup. We think Marccelino will be aiming for much higher than that, and perhaps convincing the board of this will net him a higher budget.

                TRANSFERS

OUT: Tafari Hunt (CB, 63 OVR), loaned to Dagenham on short-term. Daniel Seager (CM, 59 OVR), loaned to Leyton Orient for two years.

IN: Luan Garcia Teixeira, aka Luan (CB, 75 OVR), arrives on pre-contract. Sebastian Vegas (CB, 72 OVR), acquired from Audax Italiano for €1.8 million + Juan Komar. Cedric Diomandè Gondo (ST, 65 OVR), acquired from Fiorentina on a one-year loan. Youssef Feddal (CAM, 68 OVR), acquired from Olympique de Marseille on a one-year loan.

                Transfer Window Recap

The Exiles did not complete a lot of moves this summer which doesn't mean they weren't active during the transfer window. The team did want to shore up their central defense and they seemed to have accomplish that by acquiring Vegas, a Chilean youngster with great potential, to pair up with the newly arrived Brazilian defender. The team has been trying to sell Aaron Collins for a while now and hasn't gotten much interest but they solidified their desire to move on from him by acquiring Gondo on loan, an intriguing young striker from Ivory Coast who all but moves ahead of Collins in the pecking order as the sub striker for the B-squad. Feddal is a Moroccan prospect with great potential who will serve a role similar to Gondo's for the B-squad.

But transfer windows' biggest stories often are the moves that don't end up happening and this window for Newport County was no exception. Some of the best clubs in the world came asking for Bondz Moore, as Real Madrid (€ 3.4 million) and Bayern FC (€3.3 million) made bids close to Moore's estimated worth (€3.4 million) but turn away when The Exiles asked for a transfer fee close to three times Moore's current value. Some untouchables for the club also were looked into as Sunderland offered €5.5 for Clark Gordon and Brighton Albion and Leeds United both offered €6.5 million for Thierry Ambrose but the club quickly informed that neither player was available for transfer. Jack Giles created headlines during the window by refusing a contract extension after asking for it which made the club look into possible options to replace the disgruntled academy-product. They set their sights on Viktor Schennikov, an 18-year old LM from CSKA Moscow with great potential, but the Russian club was not interested in Giles in a swap so those talks ended quickly. We can also report that Newport County looked into several goalkeepers around Europe such Raúl Gudiño and Bruno Varela but found out they were out of their price range. They also looked into Jordan Pickford but he was scooped by Brighton Albion. Juan Pablo was one of a few academy-products without top potential was made available for purchase and was the only one to receive interest. However, Chesterfield FC's offer was only for half the player's value and they barked at a counter-offer doubling theirs.

                    FC Metz Announces New Manager

Gregory Proment has officially been unveiled as the new manager of FC Metz after their disappointing relegation from Ligue 1 last season. Proment is a name that is known and loved by the supporters already and this appointment comes with an unbelievable level of fanfare as they want to see him succeed. Proment holds the record for appearances with FC Metz with over 230 appearances in his time as a player. Proment came through the youth academy at the club before joining the senior team in 1997. He was a key player at the club through 2006 when he ultimately left to join Caen. In 2012, after seeing his childhood club fall in relegation to the third division, he made a return to the club to help them get promoted back to Ligue 2. After achieving that goal, he hung up his boots for good and returned to his old club Caen to accept a role as an assistant coach. After putting in his time as an assistant it was his childhood club that once again has turned to him to save them after another relegation. This time though, he will be taking over as manager. A fan favorite for his dedication over his time with the club, and his immense loyalty to the club that saw him begin and spend most of his career with made him an easy and popular choice to take over.

                    Proment's 5 Year Plan

                    Year 1
                    - Achieve Promotion back to Ligue 1
                    - Establish a Youth Academy
                    - Perform well in domestic cups

                    Year 2
                    - Avoid relegation from Ligue 1
                    - Promote a youth player into the senior team

Moose, if you want to play Payet on the wing in a 4-4-2 and still get the most out him, set his instructions to Cut Inside, Come Short, Stay Forward. He'll drift in and be in ideal position to help you set up destructive moves or for counter-attacks. Don't listen to this joker Rabbit who's telling you that putting Payet on the wing is a stupid move. His team aren't even in the Euros, what would he know about anything?

Love that they are keeping the trend of adding 1 per year it seems. Premier League, Bundesliga, La Liga, and then probably France or Italy next.

and FWIW I don't believe I said that about Payet. I believe I called out Moose because he critized Payet's form after he moved him to the wing and I pointed out how his form wasn't an issue when he was at CAM.

                              Get your facts straight, *****.
