Previously Injured Alexis Sánchez Came On To Score The Winner
EMIRATES STADIUM -- A late Sunday afternoon Opening Weekend fixture from The Emirates, between giants Arsenal and Liverpool did not disappoint. Daniel Sturridge opened the scoring just 5 minutes into the contest as he ripped through the Arsenal defense. A resilient Theo Walcott earned the Gunners a free kick from just outside the box a mere 3 minutes later, in which Mesut Özil would curl into the top right corner to put the score at 1-1 just 8 minutes into the season.

Liverpool's summer signing of Sadio Mané proved profitable early in his Reds career, as he beat Petr Čech as well to give the lead back at 2-1 in the 34'. However, again, a resiliant Arsenal--which is something that has been lacking in years past under former boss Arsene Wenger, would find an equalizer from a Theo Walcott pass into an overlaping Héctor Bellerín, notting the game at 2-2 just before the break.

Arsenal brought on Alexis Sánchez at the hour mark--and it would take him just 17' before a Bellerín cross found the pacey winger turned striker, as he smashed it home past Karius--giving the Gunners a 3-2 lead, that they would not relenquish. Sánchez, who had been cleared by team physios to play was not selected by Hedges in the starting XI for precautionary mesasures, but did advise prematch that the Chilean superstar may see the pitch if need be.

Arsenal head to Leicester next Saturday for the Foxes' home opener at the King Power Stadium.
