Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
There could be outside forces at work here.
I have a friend who moved here from Scotland (his wife is originally from here) who was forced to break his game disc a few years back and isn't allowed to play anymore. Every time I see him, he asks me about my most recent save. I think this is his way of playing vicariously through me.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Get my intake of new regens and the report says that this kid Andy Grant is the best talent that has come up in a few years. He's a striker who with some training could play at AML and AMR.
First Under 19 match...scores five goals in 27 minutes.
I can't wait to develop this guy.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Went on a 21 unbeaten streak to end the year, 16 wins in those games. Finished with 80 points, yet finished 3rd in La Liga behind Real Madrid (99 pts) and Barca (90 pts). I guess that's what I get for choosing a team in La Liga
Made the CL for 4th straight year, I haven't done well at at all in CL. Didn't even get out of group stage for the past 2 years. Haven't done much in transfer market, brought in young Spanish players. I did sign Xabi Alonso for Madrid, that's about it.
Time for Euro 2016 with England. I'm in a tough group with Spain, Croatia, and Switzerland. If I do get out of that stage, I fully expect to lose in penalties.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
During that last run of qualifiers, I started up a USMNT save. It's a nice break from the rigors of club management. Yesterday I got a huge chunk of 2013 done. We won the Gold Cup - I brought the full squad because I'm still trying to instill tactics into the team (those bars are finally almost full, it was a rough start in the 3rd phase of qualifying). Freddy Adu had his breakthrough and was the player of the tournament. In the final against Panama, it was 0-0 until Jozy scored in the 116th minute just as I was about to make sure I brought in a good penalty taker with my final sub.
The Hex is very tight. I just took a heartbreaking home loss to Mexico on a late goal, 0-1. A win would have put us at 17 points with two to play. Instead, we lead the group on 14 points and Mexico and Canada are both on 13 points. I think 4th is Honduras on 12. If I get ambitious, I'll post screens before I fire up the save again.
I play a 4-5-1 with two wingers and either an AMC or DMC depending on the opponent or situation.
EDIT: Unrelated, but important setting I discovered. My computer isn't the latest and greatest (still on XP and love it!), and a simple change sped up processing times drastically for me. I'd venture to say that it's more than twice as fast now.
Go to Preferences and on the Overview tab, there is an option called "Interface Rendering Mode". Change this from GPU assisted to Software. I'm not sure if you'd notice the difference on a higher-end machine, but it sure made a hell of a lot of difference for me. I did not notice that I was losing any graphic quality after switching. I also have not had a crash dump during a match since I changed this. I did have one when processing a day, but those seem to be very rare. I think I've had 3 during processing in this version so far, but numerous during the actual match - especially when attempting to enter the tactics screen.
Not sure if this was common knowledge or not, but I'm pretty disappointed it took me this long to find it.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 07-05-2013, 09:43 AM.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
So I finished the season with Tottenham. Finished in 4th place. 1 point ahead of Man U. So I'm thinking: "Awesome! Champions League!" But I start the next season and I start getting Europa League notifications. I'm like wth? I checked the CL from last year and Man U freaking won it. So I got bumped out of the Champions League.
I better finish top 4 and get into the CL or Sandro is going to be pissed and bolt to City, lol. It's so nice to gave a rock like him in the middle.
I signed Luca Marrone from Juventus over the summer, and sold Huddlestone and Scott Parker. I have a nice little stable of young promising midfielders: Maher, Marrone, and Holtby. So even if I do lose Sandro out shouldn't be too bad. Might even sell him voluntarily to cash in and get a striker to replace Adebayor/Defoe.Last edited by gopher_guy; 07-06-2013, 01:45 AM.University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Finished at the top of the Hex 1 point ahead of Mexico and Canada. Honduras finished 4th and won their playoff, so they are in too.
I got drawn in a group with Chile, Turkey, and Ivory Coast. Could have been worse, but it's still a pretty tough group.
0-0 draw with Chile
3-1 win over Ivory Coast
0-0 draw with Turkey
That was good for 2nd in the group. In the second round we drew Mexico, both Bradley and Jones picked up their 2nd yellows in the Turkey match so were out. Annnnnd, Chicharito scored on a header from a corner in the second half and we went out 0-1. I want to break things.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 07-06-2013, 04:08 AM.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Currently in negotiations to get FM back. Right now it's looking like "when she's asleep" and "weekends" are the times I'm "allowed" to play. She took away FM, so I took away the Wii. Relationship warfare at it's finest. Haha.Support Local Sports
