Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
EDIT- Also, to be clear, if it ever did come down to it, I would choose her over FM anyday of the week and twice on sundays, FM is great, addictive, rewarding, frustrating, and laptop-smashing goodness in a text-based game, but yeah haha.Last edited by Suntan Superman; 07-07-2013, 12:04 PM.Support Local Sports

Hitting a rough patch form wise. Celtic was my Kryptonite as they beat me twice in the CL group stage.
Board gave me 84 million dollars to spend. Podolski is leading the league in goals, but his attitude can be annoying sometimes.
Considering getting Fellani and Jovetic in a month when the window opens.
Suntan, where does Ramsey play better, behind the striker or in central midfield?

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Started up my Rangers save. Best performance ever. Got through the Third Division with only one loss...yet I finish 2nd in Manager of the Year??? I feel robbed...also considering I only had two players make the team of the year. Probably me over-rotating the squad.
Season 2...didn't renew a lot of the contracts of the fringe youth guys. Was planning on getting rid of Bocanegra and Goian (2.4 million of my 10.65 million budget was tied up in those two). Goian helped me out by retiring. Boca however is still on the books and nobody wants him.
Waiting for this embargo to be lifted. Have the squad to win Second Division (and First Division). Need to start getting this squad ready for the SPL, as I struggle against SPL teams in cup competitions.Last edited by jasontoddwhitt; 07-08-2013, 11:44 PM.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Finished up my 3rd season with Shrewsbury Town FC and it turned out to be quite the season.
We won promotion to L1 and our goal was to avoid relegation. The 1st third of the season we bounced around from 6th thru 10th. The 2nd third was a complete train wreck and we dropped down to 17th. In the stretch of a week we suffered defeats of 7-2, 5-1, and 5-2.
During the January transfer window, I added Benik Afobe, on a free, and Craig Sibbald on loan from Stoke. Afobe played AML IF and Sibbald played MC AP. These 2 really seemed to spark our side as we played lights out over the final third of the season to end up 5th and in the playoffs.
We beat Oxford 3-0 on aggregate to play Charlton in the final. We beat them 3-1 to win promotion to the nPower Championship.
Afobe appeared in 17 matches scoring 5 goals and 1 assist with a 6.93 rating. Sibbald appeared in 17 matches scoring 3 goals and 3 assists with a 7.20 rating.
In 3 seasons we went from League 2 to the nPower. Goal is to avoid relegation, again!Last edited by jesmith29; 07-09-2013, 12:41 AM.'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. Aaaaand out of nowhere we are playing like absolute dog crap.
Some of these games we're losing are driving me nuts.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Pre-season of the 2013-14 season has come to a close and we achieved a 3W-2D-0L record against some decent competiton.
Our first match was a Capital One Cup tie against Yeovil. Last year they bounced us out in the first round and this rematch had given us the opportunity for payback.
We took our opportunity via a John Rooney missile from just outside of the box in the 44th minute. The only goal we needed as our defense played much better than I am accustomed to them playing. Hopefully this is a good sign for our nPower League 2 playoff/promotion hopes.
Our next match is against Southampton... honestly I'm going to rest my guys that day and take the AK in hopes of keeping my guys fresh for the league fixtures.
note: AK = A** kicking
EDIT: My keeper Seb Brown turned in an outstanding performance. He turned away quite a few early Yeovil chancesI used to put important things hereComment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
After a little break from the internet (thanks to the contract running out) I'm back with yet another save. I've taken over Guiseley as they're the 2nd highest ranked team that plays in Leeds. I'm determined to make this save stick. I haven't had a long-term save in a while.
We're predicted to finish 5th, so anything above about 8th will do for me. The tactic I use (4-1-2-2-1) is very temperamental (cue the Leeds/St Pauli save I had).
I've played through 7 games and I sit 4th with 13 points, 2 points behind 1st. Everyone is taking points off each other so judging by the start, this season could get quite interesting!Comment

The board gave 84 million for a transfer budget, so I bought Fellani for 38. Still on the fence if I wanna get Jovetic. I really despise Podolski's attitude. Also going to get another centerback.
Also bought out Squillaci's contract, and if I can't sell Djourou and Chamakh in the window I may do the same with them.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Just finished my second season with Spurs. We took a bit of a step back this season, finishing 5th compared to 4th last year. Got knocked out in the first knockout round of the Europa League again. Board was not happy about that.
Adebayor and Defoe are still going strong. I think Adebayor had 17 goals and Defoe had 19. Adam Maher, the young midfielder from Holland I bought last year seems to be progressing very well. He has consistently high match ratings and is now a regular first team player, he just turned 21.
Sandro wanted out, so I sold him to Man City in January. I was happy though, because I got $44 million for him. I was kind of depressed about losing him, so I impulse bought (and maybe overpaid for) Stephan El Sharaawy from Milan. After the season I bought Danny Welbeck from Man U, I needed a young striker, and he looks pretty solid ability wise.
I promised the board I would make the Champions League this year to get a little more money. Along with selling Dempsey for $8 million to Sunderland and Falque also for $8 million to Udinese. I have a decent amount of money to play with now, so I am looking for a LB.
I think I can make the CL this year. Maher can replace Sandro, even though he's more offensive minded than Sandro was, obviously. Hopefully El Sharaawy and Welbeck can mesh up front to score a few more goals.
I'm exited for my third season, for sure!University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey
