Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I'm so tired of getting accidental promotions. First with Port Vale to the Championship, now with Morecambe to League One. Don't get me wrong, I'm ecstatic, but the team isn't ready financially, or talent wise. I'll most likely be stuck in a crappy relegation battle that will make me lose interest, I have a 30k wage budget, and a 6k transfer budget, I tried selling off some players, but I couldn't even get market value for them. It's eternally frustrating when things don't go according to plan(I was hoping mid-table this year, top 8 the year after, then a promotion push, but nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, I can't will myself to lose intentionally so my guys rip off a 15 game unbeaten streak to finish in the final playoff position, then win 6-1 on aggregate against Chesterfield, and beat Oxford 3-0 at Wembley, the Wembley game I played "defensive" the whole game, with "take a breather" on as well, so next time I have a must-win game, that's apparently what I'll set it too.Support Local Sports

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
So, I started a first game last night using Baths and 3.4 hrs later, I still needed to take a bath and go to bed. To make matters worse, I only got through two friendlies, a youth game, and a scrimmage.
Is there a good place to learn more about this game? On some of the screens, I'm completely lost. Is the instruction manual worthwhile?Comment

I thought the tutorials helped, but the best thing is to just work your way thru and look at everything. You can always start over or pick different teams, so keep experimenting.

Woo! Won my Champions League group!
I was in a group with Bayern, Lille, and Anderlecht. My only loss in the group came in the form of a 2-6 thrashing in Munich, but I did beat Bayern 2-1 at home!
Almost to January and I am in 3rd place in the EPL, 2 points behind Man City and Arsenal, who are tied atop the league.University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

@Cod - It more depends on what speed you want to run at. Personally, I tend to the big 4 (England, Italy, Germany, Spain) and then whichever league i'm playing in. I do, however, make sure I have a custom huge database, so I clock in at around 100k players. I only do that because I spend far too much time doing my own search for players.
@Gyroman - In reply to the first, haven't tried it recently. I'm always a bit disillusioned with the game speed when having a multiplayer game so I end up getting frustrated. In your second post, the picture isn't loading for me.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Finish 6th in my first season at Granada ensuring a Europa League playoff spot. Got a hefty amount of money Bought Josh Gatt to play right wingback, Leroy Fer and James Mccarthy in the midfield. Those three have been amazing, highly recommend Josh Gatt as a wingback. Julian De Guzman has been a solid mid in the rotation, who I got on a free. I got through easily in a quailty group against the likes of AZ, Bayer Leverkuesen, and Dinamo Moscow. Ended up getting 2nd after resting my players in the final match which unfortunately drew me against Manchester United in 1st knockout round. Played them pretty tough but lost 3-1 on aggregate. Got Luiz Gustavo in the winter transfer window on the cheap who is solid but gets carded so much. First half was pretty tough as I was sitting around 8th with a lot of games to play though. Ended up going on a tear with a 10 match unbeaten streak which brought me over Real Sociedad. Now I've grabbed the Champions League playoff spot. Great progression over two seasons. Best I've done in FM really.Comment
