It's $12.49 USD. Great deal for anyone who hasn't already picked it up.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Diving back into my St. Pauli save.
I'm in my second year, really hoping to gain promotion to the Bundesliga this season. Right now, I just got to the January window, and I am sitting in 8th, 4 points out of a promotion playoff spot.
I cheated a little. One of my better players wants out, and it's the last year of his contract. So the January window comes, and when I get the 6 month notifications for expiring contracts, he has no interest to negotiate a new contract with me. Ingolstadt offered me $1.5 million for him (he's worth $1.4m), I suggested $3m, and they just withdrew their offer all together. A couple days pass, I offer him to clubs for $1.5, but a team just swoops in and signs him on a free transfer for the end of the year.
So I loaded up one of the 3 rolling saves from before the transfer window, and cashed in on that $1.5m from Ingolstadt, lol.University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

And here I go to Arsenal. Hilariously, Henri Lansbury was their manager prior and he retired. They won the Capital Cup in 2039.
Needed some changes, so €145m out, and €175m in during the transfer window.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I've been on a good run lately, with 9 matches left, I've moved into 3rd. Which I believe is the promotion playoff spot.
I'm hoping to overtake that second spot so I don't have to play in the playoff, because IIRC, the playoff is between the 3rd from the bottom in Bundesliga. Who would probably be better than me; it would be a bummer to get 3rd and then lose that game...University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
First season of the SPL completed. Gave Celtic a run in the first half of the season, but a poor run of form in December cost me the title. Still, solidified my spot in second place (after the media picked me sixth) and qualified for the playoff round of the Europa League.
Did win the William Hill Cup after Celtic bowed out in the quarters. Blasted Partick Thistle in the semifinals 6-0 and Dundee United in the final 5-0.
Order of business in the transfer window...
1) Lock up my young stars (pretty much done)
2) Try and shed some contracts of some guys who helped me get back to the SPL (no luck yet)
3) Keep raiding Falkirk for their youth (lol, I've seemed to have signed several)
Other happenings...
1) Leeds United have finally returned to the Premier League
2) After a disastrous Copa America, Jurgen has resigned as US manager. I've applied for the job, though I have an outside shot according to the news article. Jason Kreis appears to be the front runner for the post. What has he done? I'm the manager of freaking Glasgow Rangers begging to be the US coach!!!
3) Board wants me to make the Europa League Group Stage...we only drew Standard in the playoff round. We may actually have a chance. At least we dodged CSKA Moscow.Last edited by jasontoddwhitt; 06-30-2014, 03:33 PM.Comment

Beat Standard 4-0 and 4-1 to advance to the group stages of the Europa League.
With the second worst UEFA coefficient left in the tournament, I knew this was going to get ugly....

After trying to start a game with the New England Revolution and losing interest as well as starting in the lower Australian divisions and having the same result, I decided to start a save at Tottenham. I figured I would be playing in the best league in all of soccer and have some names floating around that I would actually know since I'm learning the game of soccer.
It was nice to see a team with a legitimate transfer budget for once and a couple of my scouts showed me a kid that they really wanted me to go after. His name is Moussa Dembelé and at the age of 16 he looks promising. After some negotiations between me and Fulham, along with about four other teams throwing in offers, we were able to land the young star prospect! Here is what he looks like now:
I'm excited to see his growth under Tottenham's tutelage and hope he grows into a star for our senior squad.Last edited by R1zzo23; 07-03-2014, 05:07 PM.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I have a question for anyone managing a national team. I'm starting up my first one now with US and was wondering how I go about effectively managing a national team like how I go about getting good/great players in the future and stuff like that.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
It also helps to win things so that you can pick up some good players that are eligible for both the US and other countries.Comment

The US isn't as attractive as some other national teams, so I've cap-tied kids at 16 before they get called up by Germany. Sometimes it works, but I've been burned before by not cap-tying them (although they accepted call up, I neglected to play them).?The Bulgarian Brothers - a story of two brothers (Oggy and Dinko) as they coach in the NCAA and the NBA.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Playing in Europe is affecting my league form despite expanding my squad, but this more than made up for it plus all the times they ran me off the pitch.
Then we go into our first Europa League group match against AC Milan. I'll let the highlights tell the story, but I buried my head in my hands when Chris Lawson's last second shot got deflected by the defender.

After two fantastic games, we promptly sh*t the bed against Motherwell. Sigh.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
If I'm doing a tactics testing game, I'll only load up one or two countries and it'll zoom by.
If I'm playing a legit career game, I have like 80-90 leagues loaded and it'll take longer than most people would probably like.badComment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
I should rephrase my question. I wasn't talking about computer speed and how long it would take to sim a season but how long do ppl spend on playing and managing through a single season? I don't know if I'm moving too fast or too slow.Comment
