Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Interesting. I never exclusively user player ratings to make subs.
Fitness and tactical decisions drive most of my subs. I understand players have bad days, but I've seen so
many times where either:
a) The player is rated poorly in the first half, but ends up having a ~8.0 rating after a great 2nd half (seen it in CBs a lot)
b) Rating is low, but from watching the game it's clear the player is creating chances and doing well.?The Bulgarian Brothers - a story of two brothers (Oggy and Dinko) as they coach in the NCAA and the NBA.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Like I said, it's somewhat rare... but every time it happens it's a fullback that it happens to. They just spend the entire first half getting burned. Just gotta chalk it up to the match engine and put in the backup, who plays solidly almost every time.
I'll set up a 3-tactic system (normally one being my base, one being defensive or counter-based, and one being attacking). I don't mess around with instructions at all during the games, since the players don't necessarily have the tactical knowledge to use it properly.
I'll freely switch between the three tactics (depending on the fluidity of them) during the games, but I'll never touch the team instructions themselves.badComment

Man, what a great feeling it is to make a substitution and watch them have a big influence on the outcome! In my Tottenham game I subbed in Harry Kane for Emmanuel Adebayor in the 75th minute and Kane buried a shot from outside the box to win it 1-0!Comment

I am AWESOME at getting draws
Whether it be under-performing all game, and getting a late goal to salvage a draw, or letting a team hang around all game, and then allowing a late equalizer. Ugh.
It probably cost me promotion last year, and now I've started off year 3 with a 1-3-1 record...University of Minnesota Golden Gopher Hockey

I feel you gopher. My first four games in the EPL I went 0-4-0 against teams that widely range in talent. I then got off the hump with a clutch 1-0 win over Man U that I mentioned above and promptly followed that up with an uninspiring 4-1 loss to rival Chelsea.Comment

Penalty kicks aren't very fruitful for me thus far. My best PK guy has taken three attempts and all three times the goalie has made a save on the shot. So frustrating.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
So I've picked St Lucia to start a new game up whilst I've lost interest in my Leeds save for now. I've pretty much got the entire CONCACAF region loaded so most of the national teams are manageable. On that note, I've decided to take control of the club side Northern United All Stars and the national team St Lucia.
I was just going to post what save I was doing, but had this enthralling first match in charge of the club side:

Does anyone know of any sales for the game right now? I really want to get this but I can't justify the $50 on this game when I know FM15 will be coming out in a couple months.Comment

You can, however, sign up for a price notification for it at Cheapshark.
That site is awesome for price aggregation.badComment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Wrapping up Season 1 with Southend United and the board is pleased with my performance. However, my contract still expires in a month so I asked the board for an extension and was denied at this time.
This is quite agitating as we have performed better than expectations in every competition and are $700k below budget in salaries.
I'm assuming they will offer at the end of the season (3 more matches to go).PS4 Username: grismosw7Comment
