Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
In addition to what was already suggested, make sure you look at recent form and morale when selecting players. For example, if a striker has gone "over 10 hours of competitive football without finding the net" and is suffering from a resulting lack of confidence, you might not want to start him in your next match or even call him up.Comment

All 4 CBs and both STs injured at the same time after having a great start to my 2nd season. Had to dip into my lower league affiliates so my young team just got younger. On a positive note however, Loris Karius is a beast between the sticks.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
As you can see by Giovinco's numbers, any good striker will score a lot of goals in my system. And it turns great strikers into the best player in the world. The real key to the team was Lars Bender sitting in front of the defenders blocking counters and making tackles. Plus his natural fitness is 20, so he can play 90 minutes every match. He didn't get the ratings love he deserved.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Bangor City signed me to a 2 year deal after I kept them from relegation in the final 4 matches - won 3, lost 1. It wasn't too hard, since the league splits the top 6 and bottom 6 teams after 22 matches. So I was playing some weaker competition, for the most part.
The New Saints(TNS) destroyed everyone in Wales. They went undefeated and completed the domestic treble - winning the league, Welsh Cup, and League Cup.
And here's how Euro 2016 turned out:

That's right, everybody. England. They avoided some of the tougher competition, with Holland and Germany suffering unfortunate defeats. Spain took a dump in the final and were playing half the match with 10 men. England played well, though.
Arjen Robben was named the best player, with Gary Cahill and Luke Shaw close behind.Huskers | Chelsea FC | Minnesota United | OmahaComment

Definitive proof that FM is a disgusting, evil being whose sole purpose is to torture all who come into contact with it.
I'm going to be severely punished the next time I fire up FM, aren't I?Huskers | Chelsea FC | Minnesota United | OmahaComment

Tread carefully my friend. Say 4 hail Mary's to the FM gods and maybe they will be appeased. Go in peace and may the FM gods smile upon you.Comment

I just got thoroughly dominated in the first leg of the CL knockout stages, on the road at Bayern. And yet, somehow, I managed to come away with a draw and a nice away goal.Attached FilesComment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
The date is November 16, 2016.
First full season with Bangor City. I'm currently 7th in the Welsh Premier, with 13 points from 11 matches. It's been a bumpy ride in league play, but I'm optimistic we can turn it around. I signed this 17 year old gem at CM in the off-season and he's been so good, an outstanding creator of chances...I just need my strikers to start finishing better(or I need to find better strikers).
Spoiler
The Welsh FA Cup ended abruptly in the 3rd round with an embarrassing 5-2 loss to a 1st division team. That hurt.
The League Cup has been absolutely thrilling. We entered in the 2nd round, facing Barry out of the first division. We were heavily favored, but Barry scored in the 8th minute to show they weren't messing around.
The match would eventually go to penalties, where my team went 5 for 5. My keeper made a huge save to give us the edge and avoid an early exit.
The next round saw us facing fellow Premier side Ton Pentre. They wasted no time by scoring in the first 30 seconds. WTF at my defense. Early goals/late goals are a real problem with this team.
Blah blah blah, stuff happened and it was tied 2-2 at the end of 90. Then, magic in the 117th minute. Substitute striker Toby Jones borrows lightning from Zeus and puts it on his foot for an unbelievable strike from almost 30 yards out. I held my breath for the inevitable late equalizer by my opponent, but thankfully it never came.
Through to the semi-final and we get the unfortunate draw of The New Saints, who have one domestic loss since I started this save and that was in January of 2015 in a league match. They haven't lost a cup tie since the beginning of this save, either.
TNS and Bangor City met in a league match earlier in the season and I lost 2-0, where I used a defensive tactic that didn't work too well. So this time I attacked them from the start, I wasn't going to leave anything on that field. This beast has to be slayed.
Here's how the match turned out:
THAT'S RIGHT! 3-0! We're through to the League cup final!! Nobody picked us to win, but my team played an outstanding game. Say good-bye to your precious winning streak.
We've got Aberystwyth in the final. I think we can do it, but the match is in January, so things can change. In the mean time, I've got to get this team to start putting together better league results. At the very least, I need to get 6th place to make the board happy.Last edited by NoDakHusker; 02-20-2015, 03:59 AM.Huskers | Chelsea FC | Minnesota United | OmahaComment

First year at Arsenal, managed to win the League, the Capital One Cup with the reserve squad, the Europa League, and lose in the final to Utd in FA Cup, in fairness to myself, my schedule breaks were more than advantageous to rotate properly.Support Local Sports

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Nurse his match fitness back up in the reserves and bringing him off the bench on the first team. First start....gets knocked out, but he didn't have an injury post match. Hold him out of the next match for fitness concerns. Second start.....boom, gashed leg, out for two weeks.
Luckily Liam Polworth has been doing splendidly as my playmaker. And with Billy McKay breaking his ankle after scoring 15 goals in 9 matches, I've had Sergey Kundik step up and bang in 16 goals across all comps.Comment
