Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

I think it's time to finally do the only thing I've never done in FM. That's English LLM (lower league management).

The team is Boston United, also known as The Pilgrims. I chose them because of their badge, no other reason.

We won the Vanarama National League North (6th tier in England) quite easily.

We started the season ON FIRE, losing only one of our first 27 games which was absolutely amazing considering we were predicted to finish 14th.
Second half of the season was a bit of a struggle and we almost got caught with 6 games remaining, but managed to get a few wins in the end and secure the title with two games remaining.

WE did well in the FA Cup, reaching the 1st round where we couldn't beat a League 1 side which is perfectly understandable.

Our finances are very stable after the first season, hopefully I'll use them well and strengthen the squad for the upcoming challenges in the Vanarama National League, the 5th tier of English football.

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

      So, this just happened.

We've had one heck of a lucky run in the FA cup. Getting drawn Boreham Wood from VNL in the 3rd round. Who we beat 5-0. Then in the fourth round drawn at home against Bristol City (championship), who we beat 2-1, for the third time this season. Then in the fifth round drawn away against league 1 side Peterborough, who we beat 2-0.

Now after being FM'd in the last few minutes of this game we have a replay at home. We were lucky to even be up 4-2 to be honest. So them getting two goals in 1 minute I guess isn't much to be mad about. If we can manage to pull it off we will then face the winner of the Norwich and Fullham replay. Hoping its Fullham if we win. Since it will be an away game. Fullham is in the championship, and we've beaten and drew with them already this season.

Also this is the farthest I've ever gotten in any cup. So I fully expect us to lose by four at home.

Come on. Two games in a row to the same team. Really.

I made it a point to talk trash about their players and the manager in the post game conference. Hopefully it sparks a rivalry.

Switzerland won the Nations Cup before I took over. After I took over, I managed to get them relegated to division B in Nations League, qualified for WC2026, but failed to make it out of the group stages in a weak group.

So I resigned and took over Ivory Coast, much better chance at winning a trophy with them.

When we were working on shipping the Xbox One, hours were crazy and I was part of some boring meetings. Specifically, there was an all-up status meeting for a piece of hardware that was canceled. I'd go in, sit in the front of the room and angle my chair to face everyone else. Nobody could see my screen, and I'd load up FM13 on the slow-as-molasses Lenovo laptop from 6 years ago. Then with 5 minutes until the meeting was over, I'd hit save and wait 5-10 minutes for it to save, often walking back to my building with the laptop screen cracked open.

Given I was working from ~5:30 AM to ~5 PM with emails at night, I didn't feel bad about it, but also didn't want to flaunt it.

I love these FM stories lol. I remember when my son was 3-4 months old, I'd boot up FM 10 when my wife went out and asked me if I'd be OK. I was like, sure. I'd have my MacBook out on the kitchen counter, son cradled to my left arm and playing through match after match. Only thing was I couldn't do was cheer really loudly or jump off my chair to curse my laptop as he was usually asleep lol

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***

So I made a huge mistake, and now I am going to start over tonight. I bought the in-game editor last night.

I bought it for the dumbest thing too. I wanted to change a youth kids position. Because his stats were more suited for central mid, and he was a central defender. Which is super stupid I realized after I paid for it. Because I could have just trained him in that position.

Then next thing I know I've started messing around and changing way too much. Club details, financials, player stats, etc. So I'm starting over with a new save and disabling it to prevent myself from cheating late at night. Because apparently, after a few drinks, I love to cheat.

It's pretty easy to control myself over the In-Game Editor, I just pretend like it's not there until the beginning of the season when I change the kits. It's the only reason I use it.

Yes, FM is a great "rock the baby to sleep" game. I used to sit on a yoga ball, bounce my son to sleep, and play for hours (since he needed to be held to sleep). Lots of silent screams and fist pumps happened at 3am.

Yep, the only reason I get the editor every year (that they've come out with it at least, I used to use FMRTE before that I guess) is for the tactics testing games. Remove as many variables as possible when testing tactics.

So I installed the data pack to take England to level 11. But then after looking at level 9, 10 and 11. I decided to start in Level 8. Those county leagues look like they would be way to hard for me.

Also I love these league names. I went with Lancaster City FC (The Dolly Blues), in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Division One North.

Should be fun, but I'll probably end up getting fired. Goal is to take them to VNN, or as high as possible before getting a higher league offer. I am making some house rules in regards to leaving. I can only leave for for a team that has played in the Championship at some point in their history. If its in another country, they have to be in the counts top league.

Here is to not getting fired in the first season.
