Yeah, its just kind of lame to do that. I admit I thought about it, but it was to avoid getting fired. Instead I made a few lineup changes and voila avoided the ignominy of relegation.Support Local Sports

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Managing Celtic right now looking for my third consecutive league title. The suprising part though was my first season in the Champions league I somehow managed to make it to the final. Granted my draws that year were the easiest of the remaining teams before losing to Barcelona in the final.
Year 2 I got absolutely hammered by Man U in the first knockout round, and this year down 4-2 after the first leg against Real Madrid.
Making it to the knockout round in three straight years though has given me a nice budget to work with and I have made quite a few roster moves. Right now my top scorer is Mattia Destro. A 23 year old striker from Italy this kid has 28 goals in 32 appearances. My top Midfielder is Oskar Hiljemark a 22 year old from Sweden, and an AM that I got this season who has been great for me is 19 year old Will Hughes. Running a 4-2-3-1 with this team playing an attacking style and teams can't stop me in Scotland.
This season now that my starting 11 are pretty much settled I've been hunting for 15-17 year olds to add to my youth system for the future. With plenty of transfer funds I have some freedom to build for the future as well as keep winning now. I've been looking for guys that have expiring contracts so I can move some of my transfer funds into my player salary budget to keep my team intact.
Fraser Forster has been great for me as a Keeper, but I've got a couple young guys around that could be pushing him out in a season or two.NHL: Vegas Golden Knights

I welcomed Rangers back to the Scottish Premiere League with a 6-2 win at their place. Good to get the rivalry back in the league.
Through 7 league games my Celtic team has scored 26 and only given up 4.NHL: Vegas Golden Knights

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Just played my first epl match against.... Man U.
Lost 3-0 but had 2 shots off of the woodwork when my striker should have easily net them. Oh well, he's only like 21 or 22 i think.
Anyways, this will be a loooong seasonI used to put important things hereComment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Started a Milan save as I was inspired by their win against Barca. This is a team on a tight budget and a lot of players making ridiculous amounts of money. Long term goal of this save is to sign Italian players to develop or players 17-18 I can turn into homegrown players.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
That is a stacked youth team. Having 5* youth facilities myself and a stagnant/overpaid main squad makes me hopeful for the future but I am always hesitant to call up a current 1* ability player even if he is the real deal down the road.
Three years at my club I slowly burning through old/bad contracts and the youth are coming through. Definitely keeps playing with the same club enjoyable.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
It is my understanding that this is not true.
For European competitions, in order to register a full 25 player squad, you must have 4 players who have trained at your club for 3 years before age 21 and 8 players who have trained in the nation for 3 years before age 21. The time spent on loan within your country counts towards training in the nation, but not the club. Time spent on loan outside the nation counts towards neither.Comment

Re: ***The Official Football Manager Thread***
Hey guys - is there a way to watch matches without attending them or watching the full match highlights after the result is known in games being played where you aren't the manager of either team? I am building up to the World Cup and I'd like to watch a few matches instead of just blowing through it, and anytime I attend I get an email the next day saying I was "spotted at the game, nobody knows why and critics believe he's taking advantage of the club's generous budget," etc etc. Is this hollow criticism or should I be concerned it will ruin my standing with the association?
Sorry for the odd question. It seems like I have a billion of them (including the fact that I get to name a 30-man roster for the WC, but have to trim it to the final 23 before I get to play any warmup matches). But I digress...Comment
